Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim was spoiled last night. Her design space is not new for Orzhov. Rather the combination of a sacrifice outlet, starting 2 cmc and life gain enabler has its advantages compared to Ghost Council of Orzhova & Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter.
The theme of the deck is rather similar to Orzhova and Vish Kal; Sacrifice and recursion for incremental value and board control. Using the life gain to fuel more card draw.
Please let me know your thoughts or ideas for brewing.
Nice to see an Ayli list already up so quickly! I see you aren't using things like Blood Artist or Falkenrath Noble, generally they are very efficient sources of lifegain and even potential win conditions.
I think Blade of Selves is not reall good here, no one will let you equip that ashen rider, not a chance ... better add more ramp as the deck is mana intensive
Thanks for your suggestion, i never tried Black Market before outside of a token deck. What's your experience like playing with Black Market? Smothering Abomination sacrifice trigger might be too much unless I add in more recursive creatures.
Thanks, I might have to find some room for a couple of those suggestions. I am not sure about Test of Endurance and Felidar Sovereign, instant win cards are not my playgroup's cup of tea.
Try out rally in this deck as it allows for crazy life gain turns and with the aforementioned blood artist and zulaport cutthroat gives you some crazy burst
I feel like no matter what direction you take with Ayli, she's going to draw a fair amount of hate (probably after the second or third Utter End effect}. So, I might try to get some protection for her in the form of Lightning Greaves, Gift of Immortality, etc.
I recently tried building Ayli as a life-gain combo deck, but I'm starting to think she might make for a decent stax commander. Maybe not as good as Teysa, but gaining a bunch of life off recurring dudes and removing problems are pretty helpful to a stax strategy, and all the grave pact shenanigans.
You could also run this in a life gain = loss type shell with shenanigans like Defiant Bloodlord, Tainted Remedy + Soul Conduit, Arbiter of Knollridge, etc... I'm kind of convincing myself to build this, actually. Haha

Ayli would be an excellent combo piece if are you going the infinite life gain route. Would love to hear how it turns out.
Still thinking if I should put Karlov of the Ghost Council as he can become brutal and he is another removal beast, since Ayli is probably going to draw a lot of hate I think it would be nice to have Karlov together with him.
Karlov will draw even more hate, he is too easy to activate. I am running a deck with him at helm and it becomes archenemy very fast even when I am not the biggest threat.
I tried to use Karlov as commander once on my multiplayer day, hes too good, but he sure draws so much hate, because suddenly he is 10/10 capable of removing something from the table.
But he rocks 1v1 though, I made my friend rage quit playing against me lmao

I could see Karlov being really effective if you put more effort in incremental life gain. Let me know how it plays out. Also I need more win conditions in the deck.
I have Ayli as a commander but more towards a vultron/token deck so that I can boost her up as well as utilize her abilities. Though the issues I have ran into is that since most tokens I use come in with a toughness of one, so I have to sacrifice more in one turn so that I can reach the requirements of her second ability. Though she does do well once boosted with things like Argentum Armor and other equipment and enchantments along with her deathtouch. I also included sorcerys and other spells that help with the life gain

I do use her as a token general, too. If you have a pump-enchantment out like for example Crusade (most of my Token are spirits) and Blood Artist you're getting the ten life pretty quick.

Ayli would be an excellent combo piece if are you going the infinite life gain route. Would love to hear how it turns out.
Added:
Martyr's Cause as a durable sac outlet with upside.
Bloodghast & Reassembling Skeleton for recurable creature and more value.
Kothophed, Soul Hoarder Flying threat and works well with removal and sac outlet
Since I didn't test it yet I can't give a heads-up on how it is doing, but on mine I'm going to try some thigs like Archangel of Thune, Phyrexian Altar, the Exquisite Blood/Sanguine Bond combo, Yosei, the Morning Star to lock down someone and Phyrexian Processor as it can be really weird if this goes to late game.
