MTG Salvation

So I decided that I wanted to make a cheap EDH deck. Most of my other decks have an unlimited budget, so I decided to come up with a restrictive budget. I was also motivated to do this as it may help other, younger people, who are just starting the game, to look at the format, and see that you can make a good deck, that isn't just one of those 99 lands and general decks.

So to make the deck, I took the mid-price on tcg player for each card, other than basic lands. For basic lands, I valued them at $0.03 each. I did this, because if one is trying to buy basic lands, one would buy them in bulk, unless they are buying the rarer basics (judge promo, un-basics). I found them sold in many places for at about $0.03 a land for bulk. I built the deck a on 6/24/15. Boy has inflation messed up this deck :(. It now costs 59.14.

I would love to hear any suggestions that you guys and gals may have for changes. I am sure that this deck can be better with the budget I have set for this deck. At this point, since I don't want to dedicate my time to figuring out if prices inflate, and I need to change stuff up, Make sure the addition costs as much or less than the card you want to suggest adding. If you don't know a cut, keep the price of the card to $0.50 or less. Yes, there are a few cards in the deck that cost more than that, but a large majority of the cards cost much less than that.

Other than that the deck is really cool. I personally don't know if it is any good yet, as I just built it July 8th, 2015. So without further delay, here is the deck.



Some cards that I would like to add, but have no idea if they would be good or able to be added given the price of them:

Void Maw is just bad, Avatar of Woe is cheap and great and Exquisite blood is mostly a combo piece with sanguine bond both of which you should likely run unless morally opposed to combo or something. Speaking of which have you though about the triskelion/phyrexian devourer/necrotic ooze combo

If you're playing the Necrotic Ooze combo, Buried Alive is a must.

Wow, how did I miss that? Now that I am thinking about it, I should probably also have Jarad's Orders in the deck.
Do you have any idea for cuts from the deck that are around the mid-price of the cheapest buried alive on TCGplayer? I love that card and can't believe that I forgot about it!

I thought it would be a card that would be decent at getting cheap pumps for little cost. I can see why it would be considered garbage though. It is from coldsnap. Lol.
So Exquisite Blood also works with Jarad's ability, not just as a combo piece with Sanguine Bond. That is why the card is up for consideration, but sadly it is probably too expensive for the deck. Also I am not opposed to combo as you can see in the deck already. Also sanguine bond would pretty much just be in the deck for Exquisite blood.
So phyrexian devourer is not the best. It doesn't really have any utility outside the combo. Quillspike on the other hand has utility outside being a combo piece as it can give me more sacs out of persist creatures in the deck (for which I only have two currently). Also, when I was first thinking up this deck, black sun's zenith was in the deck instead of decree of pain. Another issue with the devourer is the cost. I think that some of the other cards that in that price range are much better for the deck in more situations than just to combo.
Thank you for the suggestions though. I had considered them too, this was just the logic I used to justify cuts and stuff.

Can you explain? I mean exiling the card is kind of a nonbo, but is there a stacking thing where I can put the effect on the stack a bunch of times and wait for the last one to resolve so I could thing sack it to Jarad and have everyone lose a lot of life? If so, then yes, please explain to me how it works so that I could use it. Your help will be much appreciated.

Yeah. So Phyrexian Devourer has two abilities. One is an activated ability and one is a triggered. You can activate the ability, have Phyrexian Devourer's power go to seven, and put the sacrifice trigger on the stack. Then, you can respond to the sac trigger by repeatedly activating and resolving the activated ability. Still before you have to sac it, you can activate Jarad to burn the table for the total mana cost of your library.

Hmmm. I didn't know that you could do that. Interesting. So I guess I do need to add that card to the deck. Now to make the cuts.

No corpsejack menace? Him + Solidarity of Heroes makes Jarad's ability ridiculous.

So I made some cuts to make this deck less than $50 again and I took some of the advice I was given here. I have to thank you guys a lot for your suggestions.

- Eternal Witness (too expensive)
- Wound Reflection (too expensive)
- Ashnod's altar

+ Pharika's Mender
+ Buried Alive
+ Phyrexian Devourer

So Eternal Witness just got too expensive for the deck, as did wound reflection. The mender allows me to get the cards that I care most about getting back, so it is a cheap replacement. Buried alive is a great addition, especially since I am adding in the Devourer as well.

@Fonzi: Corpsejack Menace could be great. Do you have any idea for cuts? I am not a huge fan of Solidarity of heroes, as it seems really situational.
