Do you like playing creatures? Do you like playing Mardu? Do you like beating your opponents into a pile of quivering blood?
Well do I ever have a deck for you! Presenting Alesha, Queen of Combat.
Your creatures will always be swinging around for the old one-two, taking extra combat steps and all led by the Queen herself who picks those fallen soldiers back up for round two.
Fast mana to get online and swinging before your opponents can blink. Creatures with good ETB abilities to keep on coming back with Alesha. Plenty of searching and removal to open up the attack paths and enchantments to protect and buff your little dudes.
Win-Cons: Brutal Hordechief + Mardu Ascendancy + any number of non-token creatures: This is probably the simplest one to get, play hordchief, activate his ability and swing, make everything block a 1/1 goblin that the ascendancy just made and laugh maniacally as you drain and damage them to nothing.
Hellkite Charger + Sword of Feast and Famine: Another super easy win-con, equip the Hellkite with the sword and swing all day long. Bonus points if combined with the Hordchief to kill everyone in one turn.
This may not be the best deck, or even the most powerful, but it will be fun to lay the smack down and that's the aim of this deck.
(Disclaimer: May not be fun for your opponents.)
Nice deck! I was wondering how you had found Mardu Ascendancy to be? Do you find it to often be too slow / win more? I would also consider cutting some of your high cmc cards like Plague Wind and in Garruk's Wake, which are very slow while there are cheaper options such as Toxic Deluge which can also fulfill the same role.
Going to be honest. I threw this together in about ten minutes at 2am so there's a lot of cards in here that I would question. Most were just things I could remember off the top of my head.
I do run mardu ascendancy in my current alesha deck and it's actually been the difference between winning and losing a few times
Totally forgot about Reveillark, it's good even if you aren't trying to combo out. I ran Grenzo for a while in my list and too often it would just send random lands or other spells to the grave rather than something it can bring back. It certainly fits but my experience is that you'd be better off with another creature that does something when it enters or a graveyard recursion spell, Debtor's Knell would be a good card for a more reanimator style deck.
Well, if you feel like you're putting things you can't use into your yard then you are missing things.
For example, Crucible of Worlds for lands. Yawgmoth's Will for lots of things. etc.
