Here is a quick budget list I threw together. Clocks in at about $200. Not sure if that is considered budget. Almost all the cards are under $6. Elesh Norn being the biggest exception. Because a lot of the best hate cards (Teeg, Linvala, Null Rod etc) are pricey and almost irreplaceable it was really difficult to fill the list. You'll also notice the list is missing 7 cards. These last slots could be used for a myriad of other budget options.
Some suggestions to fill the last few slots: Anthems maybe Overrun effects? Anything to make your hatebears and dorks a bit more deadly.

Do you have a budget version of your deck that a newbie player may start with? I'll be buying the pieces one by one but until then, I was hoping to get a budget list that stays true to the core of the deck list you made. Thanks in advance.
I did a similar thing in my Oloro Primer, but I'm not sure I ever really got into the end zone with it. I know budget builds are something that's been requested in the past, and with time I do plan on doing it. It's actually quite a bit easier with this deck considering I'm playing 5 reserve list cards. I'm not the world's greatest budget builder, that's for sure.
So may I ask for a rough draft of the budget list? I would love to play your list and rough working draft would do me fine.
At risk of overextending myself here, which cards in particular do you need replacement for? Anything over $10? $20? Or a completely budget take on it? Because I live in the middle or nowhere in Virginia, no internet. I use my cellular phone data to communicate, which often times makes it rather difficult to do wholesale revisions to the deck list. My personal issues aside, I live to serve and help the budget conscious, established and new players who use this as a resource.
Hmm. Well, anything more then $15 per card would be expensive for me I guess. I do have the following cards though:
I've been eyeing this deck for a while and I want to build it. The only issue is that both metas I play in are basically Battlecruiser magic with Eldrazi and the like. What hatebears do I use to combat against this?

Well, Meta #1 has the following:
Omnath v.1
Omnath v.2
Gitrog
Teferi (Creature) (With all Eldrazi in it)
Maelstrom Wanderer
Sigarda Voltron/Angels
Xenagos
And Meta #2, while way more lighter on bigger dudes, has:
Mayael
Rosheen (Hydra Tribal)
Omnath v.1
Omnath v.2
One thing I did consider was Mazirek+Cataclysm, but I'm always wary of the Path to Exile stopping me from winning.
Edit: The two lists do not represent the entirety of each meta, just the ones with "big guys". The list for Meta 1 makes up for 50% of the group, while the list for 2 makes up for roughly 20%
Well Action's list is already equipped to deal with these kind of commanders (mayael especially) so you shouldn't have to change much, if anything at all. If you're getting attacked more often then maybe run 1-2 more Ghostly Prison effects like Peacekeeper ect. If all of those green decks are ramping by pulling lands from their libraries instead of artifacts or dorks, you could add Leonin Arbiter in place of Ethersworn Canonist or perhaps Dosan (As it looks like there is no storm in your meta there are only 2 blue decks.)
But otherwise I think you should just play the base list and you should be fine.

This is a pretty close approximation of the list I would have come up with. Thank you for the assist.

Battle cruiser style magic is a bit easier for this deck, I suppose. Removal like Maelstrom Pulse and Pernicious Deed against the overlapping strategies can 2 for 1 important pieces. The key element is time, and time for the most part is on our side. By taxing and restricting our opponents, and outright ending it with Living Plane + Linvala, Keeper of Silence.
A typical multiplayer game without turn 3/4 combo wins are a space where the list as is is designed to flourish. Primarily we are "good" against strategies that go wide or tall. We can beat both fair and unfair decks, but it also has drawbacks (which can be overcome by adding specific hatebears for areas of weakness). It is all in how you make it, I've found the lower curve, creature heavy list to be preferred, some may want to smash a Dragonlord Dromoka into people can still have fun.
Conspiracy 2 review is up! How is everyone doing with their Sanctum Prelate? I'm completely in love with it so far.
Unfortunately, I haven't gotten my hands on a copy yet. I just ordered one, and I can't wait to play it! Any note-worthy situations you've been able to use it?

I got the live the dream of Sanctum Prelate for 3 and Gaddock Teeg. Got a collective eye roll from the playgroup.
What's the feelings about this? Seems strong and proactive
I just saw it as well and thought the same thing (though I'm building towards a Karador Boonweaver instead of Anafenza hatebears, but they're similar).
I feel like it is strong against Storm, notably against Ad Nauseam as it takes away so much of their reach because they need to cast what they are digging for and have effectively less life to do so. Also works against anything else where your opponents are paying a lot of life to win. If you don't see those decks, it's probably a decent value play, but doesn't hurt enough to turn people off of whatever they are casting, I would guess.
Action_Mane, thanks for this primer. I've wanted to build an abzan hatebears deck for a long time, and never did because i wasn't convinced it would make sense in EDH (primarily what we play). after months of gatherer and just looking through my collection, i decided to google it (should have done this first i think) and came across your primer. within a week i went from a stack of cards that kinda meant nothing to a deck. here is my list now:somedumbjerk's deck
it killed it against Leovold. i basically made this deck because one member of our playgroup makes super degenerate decks, and boy does it feel good to punish him. Kambal is definitely going in my list. i'm struggling with room in my list. i'd love to up the mana count, either land or dorks, and i need to make room for Eternal Witness. only played three games with her and she is one of my favorite decks! i'll attempt to better document any interesting interactions. especially since my playgroup tends to play some strange stuff. basically, thanks for all the hard work. especially since your situation doesn't make it the easiest!
I've gotten Kambal, Consul of Allocation out in one game so far, and he did a decent job, netting around 20-26 life and keeping me in a game I would have quickly lost otherwise. He needs more testing before I can comment on whether he's earned a permanent place.

I was thinking maybe he could replace one of the Glowrider/Thorn of Amethyst taxing cards, since they cover the same territory. Glowrider isn't amazing, and Thorn is a non-creature spell - and Kambal doesn't affect us whatsoever.
My main concern with Kambal is that the deck works so much to prevent noncreature spells that he feels redundant. Like when you're already playing Thalia/Vryn Wingmare/Glowrider/Sphere of Resistance/Lodestone Golem alongside Gaddock Teeg and Sanctum Prelate, your opponent casting noncreature spells is such a liability. The lifegain can be important though as this deck eats a lot of life and is a target a lot of the time but I think there's better ways of doing it.
Personally, I've been playing Brisela in my deck. It's pretty sweet with Survival of the Fittest. Pitch a creature, tutor Gisela, pitch Gisela, tutor Bruna. Next turn, cast Bruna, reanimate Gisela, and you have Brisela easily. They're both solid creatures on their own too and Bruna is like a bigger Karmic Guide that gets around Torpor Orb.
The description for Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury doesn't appear to match the card at all. Did you accidentally paste the blurb for Trinisphere under Freyalise?
On that note, I've found Trinisphere is great against Omni-show, and 1 turn faster than Dream Halls, though not very useful otherwise.
Also on the subject of Freyalise though, why is Freyalise listed under "fixing"? Isn't that the one thing it doesn't do?
One last question: can I get advice on tuning this deck for my meta? We have a lot of reanimator (Jarad, Gisa+Geralf, Meren, Deretti), combo stuff (Riku, Mishra, something UR storm, Azami), and cheaty stuff (Narset, Zur). No tokens (except maybe 1 deck I haven't seen much). I'm wondering if I should drop the spheres for e.g. Trinisphere and Chains of Mephistopheles, and the Maelstrom Pulse (and other token-targetting cards) for more anti-card-draw.
Not sure if this thread is still active. I sat down an massively updated the list I posted a few paged back. I have the link below. My only problem is I feel like I have a decent build going but its just not pushing itself over the edge to seal the win. Any ideas?
Athreos/Karador put in work for me. Also i highly recommend trading, saving, selling a kidney for living plane and linvala. You're already running Armageddon, so might as well go for it. Also i notice you are going stax-ish but i'm not seeing the seedborn muse or other untap and recursion to go along with it. what kind of budget are you looking at playing with? here is my list. by no means amazing but it's doing okay. i think i need tutors. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/anafenza-hatebears-3/?cat=cost&sort=
Mine? I don't have a budget. I've ran this list. Had to drop several elements like stax and try to work more on increasing the tax. Kept it HB at most part but actually toss in the persist wincons mentioned towards the third or fourth list due to meta (Shop keeps didn't like my T7 Prossh wins) until I figure out what I can do next and personally I love it a bit more.
What are your thoughts on Aluren? Seems absolutely broken in this deck, and you can easily break parity against your opponents with it. Heartwood Storyteller is another one to consider, though it's potentially dangerous depending on what you're facing (but it's a house in the right meta)
Two others to consider, though the cmc is likely prohibitively high... but they do help stabilize/toolbox in the midgame/lategame: Wild Pair Lurking Predators
Been awhile since an update, and nothing has really changed. I haven't had the opportunity to really dig into the new stuff, but a stretch goal of mine is to get all of these set reviews done before Amonkhet.
