Okay, so this has been a pet project of mine for some time now and at this point, I need to make a Junk Superfriends list. I tried doing it with my Teneb list, but it didn't work out in my meta. Now that I have a established Commander deck for competitive nights, I need to get this deck made. I brainstormed a while with ISBPathfinder, but we eventually scrapped the project due to the problem with ramp constraints and consistency. Then, Daghatar was spoiled.
This man was met with criticism, overshadowed by the already popular Ghave, Guru of Spores, who would be the ideal choice for a Super Friends Commander, due to his ability to manipulate tokens and counters, as well as be a center combo piece. But I saw something in Daghatar that Ghave doesn't have. Daghatar is under the radar. No one pays much attention to him. But vigilance, paired with some counters and buffs from 'Walkers means that he can deal a lethal dose of damage. His ability can manipulate counters all over the field, as well as take advantage of 'Walkers who utilize +1/+1 counters. Also, Daghatar is just a lot cooler than Ghave. That Armor, mace, flavor, and of course, the mustache. Daghatar wins in the style section.
It is a shame that no one has tried to make a deck around him. There are some lists floating around that utilize putting counter on opponent's creatures, and then stealing them. But I feel this is much more fun and exciting. So here we are: my first draft of the deck. It is quite rough and has a lot of things going on. Mainly, I want to emphasize the Planeswalker theme along with an Enchantment matters package. Plenty of removal and tax effects to protect myself while I use advantage to grind the game out. Tell me what you think and please, shoot out some suggestions. This isn't exactly intended to be a competitive deck. It is just pure insanity.
Maybe you realize this, but you can't do nearly anything in this deck... Planeswalker's Loyalty counters don't count as +1/+1 counters, so you can't move them around or do anything Daghatar... So this list is a little bizarre.
This is far from an optimal deck. This is totally a 75% deck, with a lot of planeswalkers. Daghatar doesn't move loyalty counters, he moves +1/+1 counters. Ghave would totally be superior. This deck isn't suppose to be a OP power deck, just a fun Superfriends deck.
Why Daghatar at the helm of this deck? Because Mustache, thats why!
I've been looking at Daghatar and yes I believe function wise Ghave is better. However, I also notice a few advantages Daghatar has over Ghave:
1) Daghatar is cheaper and requires only one color to cast.
2) Daghatar has vigilance.
3) Daghatar can steal +1/+1 counters from opponent's creatures.
4) Daghatar is a Human Warrior
Mana isn't usually an issue in EDH, neither is Vigilance. Daghatar's stealing ability costs 3 mana, which is not particularly impressive either. However, I do like the fact that Daghatar is a HUMAN, and going a well supported tribal creates interesting shenanigan that Ghave cannot, like Angel of Glory's Rise (combo-able with Fiend Hunter and Cartel Aristocrat), Riders of Gavony, Xathrid Necromancer (+Conspiracy), in addition to lots of tribal friendly cards like Harsh Mercy.
Ghave is overall stronger still, but Daghatar has potential in the right decks.

Moving a +1/+1 counter for 3 mana is not as useful as the other things Ghave can bring to the table.
