Also, Glacial Crevasses is another benefit to Snow-Covered Mountains. Fogs down the board, making it easier to get Daretti's emblem.
Didn't see it discussed earlier in the thread through searching. Posted it in rockondon's thread, but this thread seems better for general Daretti discussion. Didn't see this thread before, heh.
Library of Leng is interesting for the draw spells, but it seems to be a dud for Daretti himself, unless you are just looking for the counters. Narrow is a good word for it, but if I did go with all those discard spells then it would be a lot more usable.
Glacial Crevasses is kinda interesting - never honestly thought about it. Would you suggest a card to make room for it? I don't run many deter attack cards, so it would have to come in by cutting some other form of utility.

There's actually a couple Red anti aggro type effects that I've seen brought up the last couple days and I'd thought about trying them in Daretti. I'm blanking on their names now though. One is Mudslide I believe but there was another cheaper one that I liked better.
I want to play Snows and all the snow technology but the investment is high and I like how perfect the Adam Paquette RTR Mountain is for Daretti, lol.

They didn't care that he was the savior of Fort Keff, the great hunter of Ondu, the champion of Kabira. To them, he was just another piece of flesh, a thing with life to be drained away.
Tangle Wire seems like the closest equivalent, or Silent Arbiter for lists that run him. Crevasses is more political than either, but much harder to recur (would need something like Codex Shredder)). Still, generally harder to remove than Arbiter, and Tangle Wire seems like it would work better alongside something like Contagion Engine to make it scale better (although it is amazing to help with an early Daretti emblem).

One of the best arguments I've seen against running the Snow package is that the rest of the table will assume you run Extraplanar Lens which will get you immediate hate. I don't run it, because you easily get 2-for-1'd, and it can be painful to recur several times.
Also, I prefer the Richard Wright RTR/Ravnica Mountain. Gives you a better sense of looking up from the depths of the city, rather than a skyline. That being said, Adam Paquette's gives a better sense of size and epicness, while Yeong-Hao Han's might better depict Daretti's homeplane of Fiora (more Renaissance era, less city-plane).
I tested Silent Arbiter for a bit but I wasn't all that impressed with it. I think it's just a bit too expensive for me. Tangle Wire is a house though, at least in my 1 on 1 games.
Smoke was the other card besides Mudslide I'd been seeing lately.
I actually went with Adam Paquette's because he also did the art for Paliano, the High City and I thought it looked passably Renaissance-y enough with the domes and arches and stuff.

It is much more political, in that it doesn't affect people swinging at other players, and you can choose to save other people. It also scales better in the mid-late game. That being said, its cost is also definitely higher, even if you manage to have Crucible out at the same time.
All being said, I think it being an Enchantment makes it a poor choice. It is best dropped when you have some other support to go for the emblem, then switch gears and turtle up. Think I'll stick with Silent Arbiter or Tanglewire.
I am thinking of doing up a more prison based daretti for early game control and maybe late game lockdown. any recommendation other than tanglewire and smokestack? I am looking more for artefact based prison that allow me to manipulate the amount of prison effects. please recommend cards.
Anyone considering running Conjurer's Closet, in order to reuse all the sweet ETB triggers this deck has? Sadly Spine of ish sah isn't a creature, but you can still use Karn, Silver Golem to make it a creature, blink it and have it return to the battlefield as an artifact and destroy a permanent of your choice.
But Closet is damn good for all the token-making creatures.
If it works for you, sure, my problem is I run maybe 15-20 creatures, and that requires alot of setup, and doesnt mesh with the gameplan at all. It just is cute stuff. Which in that case, I'd rather run portcullis because my problem is opposing creatures giving me trouble, not a need to make my own (and the few I have that could benefit outside of a 1/99 named Karn) more useful.
Vash, how has Tawnos's Coffin been working for you?
Currently testing Static Orb/Clock of Omens. I must say I am very impressed with it thus far.
It's had some good moments, but currently I am on the fence with it - sometimes I am not in a position to abuse the card. I am thinking I should sub it out for something like Recoup for more uses of key spells.
I took Clock out awhile ago because I just didn't see a use for it - how consistently are you getting artifacts where you need to untap them?

I mostly use it for Static Orb. I'll either hold it or pitch it until I get it. But I may also use it for mana rocks or give a creature or two pseudo-vigilance.
I couldn't really tell you, as I don't/won't play Duel Commander, and I'm sure it's still playable, but I feel it is VERY watered down. You lose most, if not all, of the good mana acceleration. You'll only be able to get a turn 3 Daretti if I recall correctly. Just doesn't seem worth it to me.
There is a thread in the 1v1 section where you can take a look at the list and read some of their thoughts.
Duel Commander tends to also push counter magic a lot harder so its likely that when you go to cast Daretti, it will be met with counter magic a good bit of the time. Commander build arrounds can be rough in Duel Commander due to the spot removal / counters.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
How good is this deck in duel commander ? Is it even playable ?
Thanks !
I honestly stay out of the duel commander realm, so I can't comment too much on it other than I imagine my current list would fail miserably - in that realm, the STAX/MLD route would be far better (if you're even able to get those casts off).
Snuck in an update and fixed a couple of issues on the post since the recent forum update.

In: Recoup
Out: Tawnos's Coffin
Reasons:
I hate seeing a really expensive card being cut from my list, but Tawnos's Coffin really was very situational in my list and not providing enough awesomeness on its own. Recoup is also situational however it has been great because it has allowed me to not have to hold onto my big spells all the time.
It makes Wheel of Fortune, Reforge the Soul, Faithless Looting, Tormenting Voice, and Wild Guess more flexible. Effectively phrasing them like Daretti's +2 (Discard up to...).
It is another Reliquary Tower effect.
It protects against discard effects from our opponents, although this doesn't pop up very often.
It makes effects like Gamble, Burning Inquiry, Goblin Lore, Control of the Court, and even Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded safer to run because we can choose to put those randomly discarded cards on top.
However, I suspect it just doesn't do enough on its own, unless you were running all of the above cards (well, still don't run Tibalt).
Narrow, but a good card to use! I imagine it becomes better when you use many of those D7'S and D4's. It's also some prime Daretti fodder!
