I've been having so much fun with this deck and a recent card that's been an all star for me Portcullis. With such a creature heavy meta it absolutely changes the way people play. Combos very well with Mishra's Factory.
Portcullis is a piece of tech i totally stole from a friend. He put it to stupidly good use in a staxy pillow fort deck, and i thought it would be a great defensive card for Mishra that didnt nonbo our enterthebattlefield creatures. God what a glorious card. I have been running it for about 8 months or so and it is perfect for this deck. My favorite game opener actually featured Portcullis.
I was playing against 2 friends in a three-for-all game, one of them on ruric thar, the other on bruna.
I could hardly believe this draw. Utter insanity. Who even needs a library with hands like that?!
Turn 1: Workshop -> Metalworker.
both opponents draw land pass.
Turn 2: Tap workshop for 3 mana. Tap metalworker, reveal hand except for forge(dont recall what i drew); 8 mana. Total of 11. Play sol ring, tap it, 12 mana. Play wurmcoil then portcullis then torpor orb.
Opponents grumble but stay in it; both are saying things like, "welp, we gotta go after Mishra now." Play some stuff like signets and other small effects, then pass again.
Turn 3: Tap out (workshop 3, sol ring 2, metalworker 4 thanks to some new artifact in hand + forge) and drop forge.
Immediate scoops around the table. Fastest win the deck has ever had.
Edit: I know that metamorph isnt technically an ETB effect, and that copies occur before entering the battlefield, but he often copies creatures with enter the battlefield abilities for big splashes.
Game 1: Playing Storm Module in a 4 player game. Little did i realize that one of my opponents grabbed Grand Arbiter Augustin IV..aka FU Mishrastorm!
Opponents:
Game went mostly smoothly, but due to GAAIV dropping both his general and Aura of Silence, never got to go off early. Lingered in the game a long time, and basically lost. I did eventually go off, but at the mercy of one of my opponents who saw what I was up to, and could've easily stopped me.
I didn't realize that the GAAIV player transitioned his commander over to Medomai the Ageless, I made a quick swap out to the stax module for fear of getting locked out again. This module performed brilliantly. Dropped an early Winter Orb with a Mishra's Workshop, and followed that with a Tangle Wire, Smokestack, and then a phyrexian metamorph copying tanglewire. At this point Medomai was doing damage to folks, but quickly was stymied by having to sack permanents at an increasing rate. Game was closed after i choked down the board for quite some time; winning with unwinding clock + myr turbine with smokestack on 3 soot counters.
So I ever since I mentioned watching a friend play my Mishra deck I have been trying my best to learn play it more aggressively. (Admittedly difficult cause I tend to lean more towards a control deck mentality.) But the attempts have paid off. I have lost 1 game out of probably 10 via playing more aggressively. Granted I intend to use that knowledge as needed not all the time, as my local play group tends to be pretty casual, but there are a few people at my local shop who have turn 3 edh decks. (One guy has like five turn 3 decks. Coincidentally I refuse to play against any of his decks.) But they don't always show up. And when they do they often draft instead.
Going to quote myself to respond to you phoenixbro:
Phase three: End the game
Don't be afraid to make your move. Blow up the board, infect damage people to death, commander damage, March of the Machines, Bludgeon Brawl. There are lots of ways Mishra decks can win, but this part of the game is the same in all decks: play to win and close out the game. If your plan falls through, step back down to phase 2, or in the worst case scenario, treat the game as reset. You will win some, and you will lose more. This is not a deck who can take on 3 players by itself, Mishra simply isn't that strong of a general. Play to win and if you lose, learn from it.
I am a firm believer that in EDH if you wait too long, you wont be able to win because someone else WILL stop you. When you have a chance, take it! Good on you man for playing more aggressively and getting such a fantastic win rate. Its always hard to go for the juggular when you are playing an incremental advantage deck, but once you take the shot, if they dont stop you then and there, you will rake in rewards. If it doesnt work? who cares?! you just played with Mishra, and probably had a blast of a game getting there, not to mention - Mishra isnt an oppressive general, so if you had a shot to take at winning, that means you played a good game of magic.
Currently experimenting with Mox Opal and The Abyss in the 75% build. They might make the deck too strong, so only time will tell on that front.
Apologies to the community if people have been looking for updates. My first child is due within a month, and it has minimized my EDH time a little bit, since I haven't been going out as much as we wait for the arrival of our kid.

Tapped Metalworker, generated 10 colorless. Lead with Tezzeret, -3 to fetch and straight into play Master of Etherium. Then drop Lattice + March to sweep all opponents lands and have a massive army myself.
As soon as I passed turn i saw it. Was so mad at myself.
All in all, the creature variant works, though its not my favorite way to play the deck.
This deck looks absolutely awesome, but looking at cards like nether void and the more expensive dual lands make me choke. Are there any budget options you would suggest for those cards?
This deck looks absolutely awesome, but looking at cards like nether void and the more expensive dual lands make me choke. Are there any budget options you would suggest for those cards?
So when i first built this deck i didnt have nether void, no the abyss or any alternative. Another thing to recall is that if you run less effects to pair with Mishra, you have access to black to use tutors as wildcards to fetch your Mishra synergies. Also, if you run less effects, if you are looking to play an incremental, control style of play, I would recommend trying cards like Crystal Chimes; which works brilliantly with our artifact / enchantment based strategies.
Some budget options that are golden synergies with Mishra and prevent your opponent from playing spells as per usual (aka, nether void alternatives):
As for the original duals, those have slipped into my deck over a long period of time, and the fact that I was a legacy player before edh, so I have a several duals in my collection. I would recommend you replace them with basics or duals that do not enter play tapped. Most pain lands like Sulfurous Springs also can produce generic mana without hurting you, which is perfect for Mishra since our deck is mostly colorless.
Since the deck is mostly colorless, you will find that mana fixing isnt really so much a problem, as long as you avoid cards that requird 3+ colored mana symbols. Those tend to get stuck in our hand.
Welp. They got me. I put in a preorder for one. Who needs food?
*Raises hands (Reason being is that I bought the Judge Mana Crypt for $50 when it first came out :D)
I really love this deck though. I have a blast playing it (even without some of the more expensive cards *cough mishra's workshop *cough). It brings me back to a time when Time Spiral first came out and I built a deck around Mishra that ended up being fairly successful.

As for my deck it is in pieces. I'm currently in the painstaking process of rebuilding it. While also trying to save up for a Guarding Beast and a Gaea's Cradle. But i will post my deck list (probably here first) once I get my deck to a decent list together then once I test and refine it I will post my own thread for it.

I think the key will be artifacts that reduce his clock while also adding forms of evasion. Swords of X and Y for example decrease his clock, give additional effects, as well as provide good evasion sources for us.

I am currently building a stax variant of this build. I found Mishra after looking for something a bit toned down (and different) from my fairly extensive animar build. Does anyone have a strong stax list I could take a peek at? I have found a pile of resources online but very few focused on the stax side (vs the storm side).

Yeah, looking at Hatred too for cheeky wins, you know, swing with nothing equipped, make an 'oh **** i dun goofed' face, then let them declare no blocks for a bit of social engineering fun.
@Shivaess -
Yeah, Bur has a great decklist available for stax. Have you played with your list at all? These are my thoughts:
Semblance Anvil is a cool inclusion, I hadnt considered that for my stax deck, but it serves as repeatable mana in an artifact deck, I think you will profit greatly from that card.
Commander's Sphere is good mana, but I prefer Coalition Relic. 2 Mana on your turn in a pinch trumps the sac card draw for me.
I REALLY dont like Mizzium Transreliquat. It seems ok, but you have to remember that you MUST pay 6 total mana before it effectively clones an artifact. Sure it can change later, but its very pricey for what it does. Prefer to run Copy Artifact or Sculpting Steel.
Tezzeret the Seeker is a great piece of search tech - if you can find room, hes a great include.
Not sure if Orrery / Shimmer Myr are really valuable in a stax build, great cards of course, but not 100% sold they are worth 2 deck slots.
Hope these thoughts are useful to you!
EDIT - something to keep in mind - my stax list has a lot of evolving to do, its still less than a year old, and my playtesting for it has suffered due to maintaining so many different variants of this deck - each one gets its own playtest time. Guess what i am trying to say is, I am not the end all be all of information, my list is simply what has worked for me so far.

Very long story short, I had 1 opportunity to take a win with the creature variant. First off, Thopter Engineer+Metalworker is a sick awesome combo. Unforunately, I misplayed a hand containing Mycosynth Lattice, march of the machines, Wurmcoil Engine, Tezzeret, the Seeker, Thran Dyanmo, Gilded Lotus, and Lightning Greaves.
What I did:
Tapped Metalworker, generated 10 colorless, dropped lattice, wurmcoil, lightning greaves, and guilded lotus.
What i shouldve done:
Tapped Metalworker, generated 10 colorless. Lead with Tezzeret, -3 to fetch and straight into play Master of Etherium. Then drop Lattice + March to sweep all opponents lands and have a massive army myself.

Some budget options that are golden synergies with Mishra and prevent your opponent from playing spells as per usual (aka, nether void alternatives):
Planar Chaos - This card never ceases to amaze me how much it bogs down opponents.
Possibility Storm - The best card in the deck in my experience. Instant and insane value, while locking out opponents.
Ice Cave - So insanely strong in this deck that my playgroup petitioned me to remove it from my build. Oppressive with mycosynth lattice and unwinding clock
Nullstone Gargoyle - Flying lock out engine.
Chalice of the Void - Great card in the deck...but not really as budget as it once was...
