So I did some changes to my deck, making it more mana consistant. Play tested one game and "accidently" killed the entire table on turn 6...
Man, I love when that happens. That's why I run as many pertinent mana rocks as possible.
Lately I've been thinking of transitioning my Nekusar into Kydele + Vial Smasher. Anyone else considering this as well? I've had the Nekusar deck since that Commander product came out and I've always been playing with it, fine-tuning it, and evaluating new cards for it. So it does get old after a while. Maybe Kydel + Vial Smasher will breath new life into the wheel and pain strategy of Nekusar. My fear though is that the mana base will become increasingly more expensive. Also, it's pretty much the same strategy. The only difference being that the deck will have one less card (and Vial Smasher the Fierce isn't really that good a card in this strategy - she's just there for the partner colors) and access to G.

I also added in a Mizzix's Mastery. It seems that an overloaded mastery could win on the spot. Has this card been discussed yet? If so, what was the consensus?

I think the most important skill with the card is stacking the spells in the correct order since you have to choose which ones you want to cast at resolution.
Mastery is insane. Staple in all wheels strategies.

Ah, now I see, the may is not for the entire effect but for each spell. Wooo! Thanks for clearing that up!

What looks good to me about it is that it looks better than Yawgmoth's Will. We get the effect of our spells, without the downside of the discarded cards getting exiled. Plus it also seems more mana efficient than the Will plus an immediate effect, where-as Will is a -1 itself

I cut some more subpar cards to make way from some instant-includes from Amonkhet. So I swapped out the very slow cards like Minds Aglow and its ilk for the Amonkhet gems. Also added Paradox Engine and it has been ridiculously broken. Being able to untap my mana rocks after casting a wheel means I have all that mana readily available to cast another wheel and secure the win in a lower amount of turns than usual. I added Phyresis just to end the games quickly. Sometimes I can lag behind and then win it out of nowhere with Phyresis and two wheel effects - sometimes only with a single wheel effect.

Nice update to the list. I keep playing Nekusar basing on your list and he never fail me in fun and game winning. But since my meta is filling with wipe and destroy spells, so I reduce the number of creatures to a minimum amount, keeping only "Fate Unraveler" and "Psychosis Crawler", but I am using atlas + MOM as a supplement. Talking about creatures, I came to notice this one recently: "Abyssal Nocturnus", I don't know if it had been mentioned before or abandoned long time ago, but with this guy on the battle field you can just kill one player with just one wheel, may be it worth a try I guess?

Thanks! I'm glad they're useful!
If you want to avoid creatures or keeping your creature count low, then you really shouldn't be considering Abyssal Nocturnus. Besides, I wouldn't consider because
1) it has to connect to actually do damage
2) it can only kill one opponent at a time
3) summoning sickness
Creatures like Fate Unraveler do much more damage to opponents from wheeling than Abyssal Nocturnus or creatures like it ever could. And, they can do it the turn they enter play to all opponents at once.

Nice update Kirby. Just wondering if you ever tested As Foretold, and if so, how was it? I just one from a pack and also got an Archfiend, which for some reason I didn't see as viable until now...

I feel that As Foretold would be too slow. However, Archfiend of Ifnir is just super broken here. One wheel practically wipes the board. I've been recently testing it and it has been amazing.
On another note, I'm working on an even more cutthroat version of Nekusar that doesn't run most of the permanents and is more spell-slinging. I'll try and post that version when I have the time. And why I made the changes that I did.

I would be highly interested on your spellslingery take on that deck (since I try to do exactly that).
The current version I run is this - but i am not very happy with it yet:
In a more competitive meta every wheel gives your opponents more options to combo off. So I tried to add ways to chain wheels together, so we are able to end the game in one turn, after having set-up sufficient pain effects. Mind over Matter could be another way to allow us to loop, but I am afraid that I never hit 4 U.
Furthermore I noticed that a lot of my wheel effects only draw as many cards, as the opponent had before. If everyone just dumps their mana rocks T1/2, then the maybe only draw 2 to 3 cards per wheel, which isnt much.
Also I need more mana rocks to make Paradox Engine more reliable. This would maybe also allow me to drop all but 1 of each basic land (and still be able to play around blood moon and back to basics). With only one of each card tainted pact and laboratory maniac are another wincon.
Initially I added laboratory maniac, because I was afraid that helm of the ghastlord mills to fast.
Your build doesn't seem that bad - it just needs to be more fine-tuned. If your worries are meta-dependent, maybe iron out the kinks due to that meta. What are they playing? What problems may arise? As for wheeling independent of opponents, remember that sometimes the one that needs to be drawing the most is you. Either way, if your opponents have an empty hand, Windfall and Whispering Madness will have them draw into a lot of cards if your hand is full.
I'm currently building a version of this deck with Vial Smasher the Fierce and Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix in order to have access to G. G isn't something completely necessary but Kydele does provide some insane mana acceleration. You also have access to cards like City of Solitude and Splendid Reclamation. That being said, I'm building it online because I don't want to deconstruct my Nekusar deck just yet. However, I had the same fear you did so, even though I can't run City of Solitude with Nekusar, I can run Conqueror's Flail. Not only does it give Nekusar a nice boost of +3/+3, but it has a pseudo City of Solitude effect. So as long as your opponents don't already have things in play that can disrupt you, they won't be able to cast anything during your turn; so you're free to play as you please.
I'll try an upload a list of my current experiment with Nekusar which is designed to be even faster - albeit more risky and chaotic. So it requires ways to protect yourself like Laboratory Maniac and Platinum Angel.

I feel that the locust God has too little of a board presence. We win outside of the attack phase, so the tokens are just chump blockers. Anything big enough to attack us will just rofl-stomp them. 4 mana to draw/pitch is not worth it. It's a really fun card, but I don't think it's worth the slot here.
Long time Nekusar player, but the first time finding this board.
I was thinking about how to include The Locust God in the deck while also trying to include some fun things to do with it, and the best I could find was adding Reprocess into the mix. This, The Locust God, and any wheel effect seems like it could pretty much draw your entire deck, especially combined with something like Consecrated Sphinx or Yawgmoth's Will. There's enough "may draw" clauses that we should never run out of cards, and with something like Library of Leng, it's no problem at all. I could be talking crazy, but I'll be testing it out myself for sure, and I'd like to know what other people think of it as well!
First time posting here but i've started building my Nekusar list since before he was spoiled and i really like it!
I mostly built it to "help" players that didn't have the carddraw to get into the game and to counter tutoreffects from my opponents. Its been working great and has quite the reputation by now.
Its now also combobased, but after looking at some of the recent lists posted hére i definetly lack manarocks haha.
Either way, i love the deck and i guess we're running a similar sort of build/ground.
I have only one infinite combo, Curiosity + Niv but its just there because i have a foiled guildpack version of him. He definetly could be something better, i find he's too big and doesen't get too much value.
And as you guys can see, i've cut Mana stones because well, i want to fill it with more fun cards (and well, ppl complaining about it being too consistent and fast).
But its fun, even if ppl often say: "Its just boring wheels".
I would love to hear what you guys think about the deck! ^^

1x Curiosity
1x Everlasting Torment
1x Liliana's Caress
1x Megrim
1x Spiteful Visions
1x Waste Not
1x Blasphemous Act
1x Decree of Pain
1x Descent of the Dragons
1x Reduce to Dreams
1x Rise of the Dark Realms
1x Sickening Dreams
1x Stench of Evil
1x Stone Rain
1x Wash Out
1x Worst Fears
And yes, we're allowed a 10 card sideboard, they also have to obviously be unique and may not occur in the 99.
It usually wins with Mana Geyser and Waste Not, Sickening Dreamsetc.
I love using Final Fortune, it has become quite the petcard of mine, taking a turn before an essential opponents turn.
I have only one infinite combo, Curiosity + Niv but its just there because i have a foiled guildpack version of him. He definetly could be something better, i find he's too big and doesen't get too much value.
I could use a Leyline of Anticipation in the deck.
And as you guys can see, i've cut Mana stones because well, i want to fill it with more fun cards (and well, ppl complaining about it being too consistent and fast).
But its fun, even if ppl often say: "Its just boring wheels".
I would love to hear what you guys think about the deck! ^^
Who needs Colours?
My most played EDH deck:

Really, all you had to do was explain to him the popularity metric, not give him the lemming hunter manifesto...

Lol, I've been slowly evolving my Nekusar deck to Kydele + Vial Smasher. But there has been activity here and there.
