hey all, sorry for my sudden absence. i dunno if you can tell by the location under my username but i live in puerto rico. the situation here has been catastrophic - especially my hometown, one of the municipalities where the eye of hurricane maria passed. i've been without water, electricity, internet, and cellphone service. it's also been impossible to efficiently obtain gasoline and food. it's been altogether completely impossible to get bottled water. i'm on a friend's phone right now who managed to get some service working at the capitol. not to mention the fact that i've been without electricity and internet since hurricane irma. oh well... anyways, it'll probably be a lot longer since i have any kind of normality. hopefully my threads still remain active because they're not simply here for my own opinions and ideas but the community's as well. so you can all still use them to help each other out. you can still ask me stuff, as well; i simply won't be able to reply anytime soon.
Don't be sorry, we can understand the urge of the situation, keep up !
You're right, your threads are a reliable source of informations, good advice and nice people

Thanks for the support! Some areas on the island finally have electricity, water, and internet. Although my area doesn't, my aunt does so I'm finally able to at least sit down for a couple of minutes and get my MtG fix in. Not enough to maybe play a game on 'Trice, but definitely to blow away some of the cobwebs I got on MTGSalvation.
Yeah, I'm glad my thread could be useful, it's one of the main reasons I strived for the primer status. I really want to maintain it. For the moment it's a bit difficult. I haven't been able to test out anything from Ixalan neither in real life nor in Cockatrice. I'm confident that the cards that tickled my fancy will be great. But whether experimenting will prove my hypothesis remains to be seen.

So far I've updated the OP to reflect my review for Ixalan and a few minor tweaks. Some recent changes that I've done in Cockatrice that I would like to further test are:
Interestingly, Protean Hulk underperformed in the deck. No one would kill it and it would take me a while to kill it myself if I lacked the sac outlets. Even when I was able to, I couldn't take advantage of it to the fullest. So I decided to swap it cut it for something better to see. In the main build I want to test out Taigam, Sidisi's Hand since I believe in its potential. In the zombie build Lord of the Accursed seems promising since it could give me some slight evasion in case I don't have any of the other evasion methods. Either way, it also pumps my horde.

Still no space for Growing Rites of Itlimoc?
Yesterday I couldn't really test it, because I milled it and won the game before I was able to return it. But I can say, The Scarab God is so much value. First I made a Ruric Thar, the Unbowed token, which I killed off when I needed to, after that I made a Viral Drake token that killed one of the players who already had 4 poison counters. Proliferate rocks. The other player didn't survive an attack from my other creatures. Also, Scry X is awesome.
I finally got myself an Ancient Tomb. Too bad, I didn't draw it yesterday. I hope that someday I will be able to perform the awesome play: T1 Ancient Tomb, Sol Ring, Chromatic Lantern; T2 Land, Teferi, Temporal Archmage, Sidisi, Brood Tyrant... Magical christmasland, but still...

I played it this friday for the first time after a few weeks, because it seems far too strong and everytime I play it, it crushes my playgroup. As we all want to have fun, I'm building new decks that aren't that strong but from time to time I'm coming back to Sidisi. So, testing goes slow but steady and I always have a lot of fun when playing it. The changes I made from your version (The Scarab God for Gempalm Polluter and Ramunap Excavator for Gurmag Drowner) played out really well and also my Liliana, Death's Majesty was worth including. At least better than Garruk, Wildspeaker in regards of helping the overall deck plan. I'm still playing Butcher of Malakir but maybe I will make the change to Taigam, Sidisi's Hand now. This change speaks to me more than Protean Hulk did before and I was glad, I didn't buy it for the deck, when you said it was underperforming.
I'm only 12 lands away from completing the manabase (or maybe less if I keep my bounce lands in) and the only thing I fear, when getting more and more nonbasics is cards like Blood Moon or Back to Basics.
And I'm still unsure what to cut for Razaketh, the Foulblooded.

Yeah, in the end I wasn't really surprised at Protean Hulk underperforming. I had to go through quite a couple of hoops to have it work as optimally as I has originally envisioned. Most of the time it would cheat into play at most 2 creatures. It's still an amazing card - just not for this deck.
Thanks to the new rules for planeswalkers, I don't have to worry about including others in the deck. I could have a Liliana tribal if I wanted to, now. So Liliana, Death's Majesty is definitely back for some serious consideration - especially for my Zombie Build. What has me excited for testing Taigam, Sidisi's Hand is that, due to the ratio of creatures to noncreatures, I can almost always get a Sidisi trigger thanks to it while potentially saving from the graveyard a card that's difficult to recur (planeswalker or enchantment). I find it to be a sort of Sylvan Library like effect that plays with Sidisi's main strategy.
Blood Moon and Back to Basics are hard to get around. But Cyclonic Rift gets it done. Or hopefully we can get rid of that player first before it becomes too problematic. Usually that player doesn't only hurt you in a multiplayer environment. So you can get political with the table.

I really love to see it becoming stronger over time with new cards I'm adding to it.
As I said before, I think Protean Hulk is boring. I'm glad the deck kinda agreed with me in this point
Liliana often enough gives me two zombies or functions as a boardwipe when situations are getting too risky for me. Also the recursion she provides is really nice, especially combined with The Scarab God because she makes a zombie out of the creature she got back.
Yeah, Taigam sounds like fun. Although you won't use his activated ability very often, I guess. But in some situations he can save you as well.
I've cut Garruk because you did cut him. I think he is good, too, but not as good as Teferi, Temporal Archmage or cards that really help the game plan more. And there are lots of untappers in the deck, so it isn't a big loss.
What do you think I should cut for Razaketh, though?
Damn! That list is super tight. I can see why you're having trouble finding a cut for Razaketh... The only thing I can think of is Chromatic Lantern. And even then it's a tough call due to all of the lands that only provide colorless mana.
My YouTube Channel: The Commander Tavern - a channel I just started where I'll post deck techs and gameplays. Please support by checking it out. Maybe you'll like its content and subscribe! Thanks!
I really don't want to cut Chromatic Lantern, I fear that is too risky. Potentially, the weakest cards I could think of to cut are Embalmer's Tools and maybe Champion of Stray Souls. I literally never had him in play and when he was in graveyard I didn't have the mana to put him on top of my library... For Tools... It feels like it belongs more in the zombie build than in the competitive build since I don't have that many activated abilities in the graveyard and I can only tap zombies. Sure, it works out with an army of zombies, but when you have an army already you are probably winning without it, while with Razaketh you can tutor out options if you can't win through combat damage.

I concur with your choice. Champion of Stray Souls is a card I have on the chopping block if a broken card comes along that would be an auto-include.

I guess, it's settled then. I will cut Champion for Razaketh.
Embalmer's Tools will probably be the next card I will take out, when something clearly better is there.
Thanks for helping me!

No prob! Embalmer's Tools is actually a good card. It gets better when your deck is more devoted to zombies. Once fine-tuned, it's very difficult to cut/add cards to the deck. That's probably why I have two versions (and a budget version), lol.

I didn't say it's bad but I think it doesn't really belong in the competitive build, at least not as much as in the zombie build. That's why I would cut it next, once there is a better option that is not a better version of a card that's already in the deck.

After making the changes, I tested it again. I played three games and in one I could bring out Itlimoc. It performed great, giving me 10 mana at one time. I only lost because of my own stupidness because I forget that Altar of Dementia can mill other players, too, not only myself for Mortuary + Narcomoeba... dementia, I guess
I won one game, but that wasn't something special, just the normal Opposition taps blockers thingy...
I really need to play the deck more often to avoid making mistakes. Interestingly enough, I didn't have a chance to play Razaketh, even though I had the mana and him in my hand. I just had other things to do.

Lol, yeah. The deck isn't easy to pilot. With so many things happening it can be quite difficult to be aware of everything. The good thing is that the deck not receiving major changes with every set release means that you could always polish your skills with it. In fact, you make another interesting point with the deck. Sometimes so many things are happening that even broken cards in your hand don't even need to get played.
On a side note, I'm really loving the cards being spoiled for Unstable. If WotC does make rules for Un-Formats then I will definitely consider making a section where silver-bordered cards could be included in the deck for an Un-EDH? I think it could bring a fun factor to the deck for when someone wants to shake it up a bit. Of course, this isn't for everyone, but if I want to maintain the primer then I should at least try and touch as many bases as I can.

I just stumbled over Sakashima the Impostor. A clone effect that can copy Sidisi, effectively doubling her ability. Or even Sheoldred. It also has the ability to bounce itself at the end of turn so you can copy something else/better. What do you think of it?

I use Sakashima to much success in my Nekusar, the Mindrazer deck (the main purpose for copying Nekusar, of course). It would be pretty interesting to also include Sakashima in Sidisi... In any case, it could copy Sidisi and double the amount of triggers, as you say. It also protects itself if I leave the mana open. It'd be interesting to test. Have you tried it already?

No, I just heard of the card and found it to be interesting enough to test it out, maybe instead of Clever Impersonator (because the only real downside is that you can't copy any nonland permanent and when is that a big deal?) but I wanted a second opinion on it, first. There are many broken creatures besides Sidisi that can be copied (Sheoldred, Whispering One for letting opponents sac more and letting us reanimate more, The Scarab God for his upkeep ability, Taigam, Sidisi's Hand for his upkeep ability, Kozilek and Ulamog for their annihilator and even Craterhoof Behemoth every turn because you can return it to your hand and don't need a sac outlet) so it shouldn't be that hard to include him.

Now that there are more legends added to the deck I can definitely see the appeal of Sakashima the Impostor over maybe Clever Impersonator. It could be worth testing. However, I mentioned my Nekusar deck earlier, I run both Clever Impersonator and Sakashima in it. They're both equally good on their own merits. So maybe instead of an either or situation, it could simply be a matter of outright adding Sakashima for something else. The deck is always wanting to have creatures slotted into it.

Speaking for the main build: Personally the ability to copy non-creatures with Clever Impersonator has been invaluable in my games, and I can't see myself ever taking it out for Sakashima the Imposter. The deck runs almost no removal, so often times the next best thing is to be able to copy a problematic or powerful permanent. Also, I almost never cast the Eldrazi Titans because it's too easy for it to come back and to bite us by taking part of our graveyard protection away and putting them on the battlefield. Besides that, when you copy them you lose out on the effect you get for casting them. I really can't see any Legendary Creature in this deck that is worth copying at the cost of not being able to copy opponent's Artifacts, Enchantments or Planeswalkers, or even our own. Our own Mesmeric Orb alone is worth more than copying Legendary Creatures here because it speeds us towards the end of the game, as opposed to The Scarab God which can end up doing nothing much of the time. Double Sheoldred is pretty painful, but that's about the only worthy reason I see here.
Now if we wanted to run both, I would personally think about taking out Narcomoeba or Grimgrin, Corpse-born. Narcomoeba is a classic Dredge staple, but hasn't ever really impressed me in EDH so far - I get more tempted to take it out every time I draw it because unless I'm milling it into the graveyard I don't have any other reason to play it or reanimate it over almost any other target. Grimgrin for me has been about the same as far as how often I want to actually cast him or reanimate him over any other target. He's a sac outlet that happens to be a Zombie, but I've been playing the deck for about a year now and haven't ever found much reason to pump him up and attack with him. There's definitely better sac outlet creatures out there that are also cheaper cost that have better utility. They might not be Zombies, but that's about where I feel like his utility ends. I just never find myself making him larger to attack with and there's plenty of other creatures I'd rather cast or reanimate (or copy for that matter, for the sake of Sakashima).

You make a good point, which is something I realized as I was typing the reply. I wouldn't make a swap but maybe an addition. Narcomoeba is part of a very broken engine and although fine on their own, its pieces are in no way stapled etched in stone for the Main Build. Sakashima may end up being winmore, but it could still be worth testing. The only thing that worries me about Sakashima is that its main purpose would be copying a legendary creature. So unless you have the ideal situation, it'll probably be stuck in your hand or graveyard doing nothing until you're ready to use it. Grimgrin hasn't been super impacting in games but it is a form of creature removal in creature form which is good to have because we want all cards to be creatures. As time progresses and better cards are being released, I'll try and analyze which cards aren't as impacting in games to have a sort of cutting-block list.

What I like about Garruk Wildspeaker is being able to untap two lands (which could be Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, Gaea's Cradle, Itlimoc, Cradle of the Sun (should I find space for Growing Rites of Itlimoc), and Cabal Coffers in any combination of two of them while gaining loyalty counters. If that weren't enough, his ultimate is pretty much an Overrun, which can really help seal the deal against an opponent.

Back to Basics is kind of okay to get around with Seedborn Muse, but Blood Moon is hard to get rid of without Nullmage Shepherd or Cyclonic Rift. But being political in games is awesome even though sometimes it backfires.
I've cut Garruk because you did cut him. I think he is good, too, but not as good as Teferi, Temporal Archmage or cards that really help the game plan more. And there are lots of untappers in the deck, so it isn't a big loss.
What do you think I should cut for Razaketh, though?

I concur with your choice. Champion of Stray Souls is a card I have on the chopping block if a broken card comes along that would be an auto-include.

True. I could see myself cutting Champion of Stray Souls and Embalmer's Tools next. So long as what I swap in are creatures.

(Also known as Xenphire)
