@Paragonweapon- Wurmcoil Engine and Kokusho (really anything that gains you life) are probably a bad idea in Marchesa because you never want to be "on the throne". Your ammount of 4 costs seems a bit high and maybe consider some more 2 drops.

Any suggestions of 4 drops to replace by 2 drops? What should I replace those 6 drops with?
After looking more closely at Solrunes list I noticed he also runs a ton of 4 drops so you might be ok. I would however cut Avalanche Riders because it seems underwhelming to me in a multiplayer meta.

All our tutoring needs to be able to get sneak attack. Yes, there are things that are situationally more important but if you picked a random moment in any game the thing we are most likely to want is sneak attack. This is why there is a focus on things that transmute with CMC=4. Also fleshwrither is crazy powerful in marchesa and has CMC 4 as well. So therefore solrune's list (and most of ours) overstuffs the CMC=4 part of the curve with toolbox creatures because they are the easiest things for us to get when we need them.
So paragonweapon first thing I would suggest - play those two. Neither is in your list at the moment. I would also cut stuff like Hero's Downfall and Dreadbore. Play creature-based targetted removal whenever possible, it's so much better in this deck. The only piece of targetted removal I'd really consider is Chaos Warp since its completely unconditional. But even that we cut for Nevermaker a while back (btw, play nevermaker, it's good).
Also you're missing Clever Impersonator. He is literally the best clone ever printed. He's a no brainer, needs to be in. I'm OK with Kokusho, the Evening Star, we play Gray Merchant of Asphodel and I like him better personally but they both serve more or less the same purpose - massive life-swing that we can abuse. Pick one and keep him. People usually find marchesa pretty threatening long before you start doing things like a constantly undying kokusho, keeping the throne is not actually that hard for us and we do need some lifegain at times to keep from dying. Wurmcoil Engine fills a pretty similar use case too and isn't as good at it as the others, I would cut it.
Olivia Voldaren is really cute but in practice she usually ends up being underwhelming. She was mentioned a lot over time and tested and I know rune cut her and I think a lot of others did too. Especially if you are running both Sower of Temptation and Dragonlord Silumgar already. Coffin Queen is a bit underwhelming as well. Tap abilities are a bit of a non-bo with marchesa since in addition to waiting a turn to use them you can't attack and get a +1/+1 counter if you want to use the ability. She's also a 1/1 for 3. She's not bad but I would cut her personally. Some particularly effective replacements:
Márton Stromgald - If you've never played with him you need to try it, he's one of the most broken creatures out there.
Necrotic Ooze - I had this guy cut for a bit so I understand underestimating him but he's really abusable and gives us some surprise combo wins with some regularity.
Eldrazi Monument - This card is just amazing. And we lose nothing to the upkeep cost. Your opponents either deal with it immediately or they lose.
Urabrask the Hidden - Haste is really important to us. Anger is good but I think that's your only one. You should have at least one more. I would also recommend cutting a land for Flamekin Village
After that there's a lot of preference choices. We always prefer things on sticks so you could cut one of the sweepers for Profaner of the Dead. Aura Thief is also really excellent if you've got opponents who love making pillowforts or play a lot of asymmetric enchantments. I personally have been really loving Glen Elendra Archmage recently, she's really effective and has saved me a bunch of times. We've also been trying out a number of things from recent sets as alternative card draw to Graveborn Muse, Phyrexian Arena and/or Necropotence such as Smothering Abomination and Corpse Augur.
Finally I would highly recommend replacing a land with either High Market or Miren, the Moaning Well for another land-based sac effect. I prefer the market since its free but you can see rune runs the well. Both work but I would add in one. Also it goes without saying but Diamond Valley beats both if you happen to have one although it's not so necessary in this deck that I would advocate shelling out the small fortune to acquire one if you don't.

Really need to get one of those Oona's Blackguards. Keep forgetting about that! But as mentioned, it's really hard finding slots in Marchesa for all the great pieces.
So let me ask about yet another one! Has anyone had experience with Brine Shaman? Sac outlet, repeatable (and non-tapping!) Remove Soul, and a low cost to slide in without any problems. It's certainly got potential.
Also, Clout of the Dominus seems good for Marchesa herself. Another way to get her protected, and a 5/5 shrouded haste can be rather dangerous. It might only get used on her, but given the decks' reliance on keeping her out..
Cool find, Brine Shaman, can't remember ever coming across that card! But then I'd think I would prefer Voidmage Prodigy over Brine Shaman if running it for the counter ability.

I finally got Maerchesa together and got a few games in this weekend. I read the entire thread over the past couple weeks during brief periods of downtime at work. The deck performed pretty well except when Night Soil and similar cards shut me down. I'm still missing a couple of the more expensive cards: Sneak Attack, xiahou-dun, the one-eyed, Imperial Recruiter, Entomb, and my manabase is fairly low budget but did perform well.
I found myself wanting sac outlets often and being very happy when I drew them. I currently run:
I think I need to work in the High Market that I'd initially left out because I was worried about too many colorless lands in an already greedy manabase. I'm also considering adding:
Other miscellaneous thoughts:
I might try out greaves/boots as my opponents were colluding on how to keep Marchesa dead and I did lack haste more than I'd like. Chasm Skulker is bonkers with Marchesa. An alternative source of counters and token generation broke the stalemate. Fleshwrither looks super cool foiled. Death Cloud is an a lot like Jokulhaups in this deck. It straight up wins with a decent board state.
Odyssey filter lands (eg: Shadowblood Ridge) were good for turning colorless mana into something usable. It helped with Ancient Tomb mana and painlands that tap for colorless if I didn't want to life loss. Ancient Tomb into a signet turn 1 is pretty explosive.
@Hakim: flesh Carver seems good for the deck at first glance but takes a lot of time to get going. The Mana cost to active his ability will get annoying as well. Overall if you put time to get him going you can probably shell out a 4/4 every few turns (if not bigger) but there is so much more you can be doing. (btw this guy got cut from my deck very early after playing with him a few times). if you are looking for a new sac outlet Falkenrath Aristocrat all the way

Hey guys! I'm interested in building Marchesa. Can anyone direct me to an updated list (it doesn't need to be budget). I'm probably going to run a bigger control shell with some counterspells, since I can't for the life of me play EDH without them.

I suggest about six pages back or so, some folks have posted more control oriented lists, but this is indeed a perfect deck to get out of your comfort zone.

Mirrorpool, definitely a strong contender, this set is already looking strange if these are real.
Absolutely although a lot depends on how the <> symbol works. If we have a snow-land situation then I'm probably not interested. It's good but not basically adding a 4th color good.
I'm not sure if we can use Mirrorpool. You know how we can't use any card with a G or W symbol on it? I wonder if we can legally use any of the new waste coloured cards in an edh deck without the waste mana symbol in the generals colour identity.
I'm pretty sure that symbol is just the newly established way to display actual colorless mana. The "colorless" mana costs in cards is actually generic mana, meaning mana of any color. This new symbol could be a way to actually require colorless mana. So mana rocks and stripe mine would be producing <>

I think if thats how it worked there would be some rules text on the card to explan how it works kinda like how the phyrexian and snow symbols do.

BChainer, Dementia Master(Big Mana/Reanimator)

The 6 drops I would replace with cheaper cards because you really don't want more then 4 or 5.
Cards you could consider:
- Oona's Blackguard
- Pain Seer
- Sage of Hours
- Fulminator Mage
- Burnished Heart
- Necroplasm
After looking more closely at Solrunes list I noticed he also runs a ton of 4 drops so you might be ok. I would however cut Avalanche Riders because it seems underwhelming to me in a multiplayer meta.BChainer, Dementia Master(Big Mana/Reanimator)

The 4-drop army is there for two reasons:

I found myself wanting sac outlets often and being very happy when I drew them. I currently run:
- Carrion Feeder
- Dimir House Guard
- Grimgrin, Corpse-Born
- Viscera Seer
- Disciple of Bolas
- Helm Of Possession

kind of counts too.I think I need to work in the High Market that I'd initially left out because I was worried about too many colorless lands in an already greedy manabase. I'm also considering adding:
I wasn't too impressed with Grimgrin so he might be replaced with Falkenrath Aristocrat or flesh Carver. I was really happy with Viscera Seer and I've enjoyed Vampiric Rites a lot in other decks.
I also felt I would've been better off with some more recursion, although maybe that's just how I'm used to playing. I only have Living death and Phyrexian Reclamation. Maybe Phyrexian Delver or Cadaver Imp?
I won off of Spinal Embrace tutored by Sidisi, but that's a metagame card as there a Skullbriar, the Walking Grave deck and an Ob Nixilis, The Fallen deck that I play against often. I'm not sold on it being better than something like a Zealous Conscripts if I have a sac outlet though. Gaining 20 life was nice.
