I do like Hanweir Garrison and Hanweir Battlements, but I don't think they make the cut..
Especially since the tokens do not benefit from the dethrone ability at their first attack:
508.4 If a creature is put onto the battlefield attacking, its controller chooses which defending player or which planeswalker a defending player controls it’s attacking as it enters the battlefield (unless the effect that put it onto the battlefield specifies what it’s attacking). Such creatures are “attacking” but, for the purposes of trigger events and effects, they never “attacked.”
Stensia Innkeeper is too costly at 4cmc for what it does, unless you have a meta full of cradles and coffer's. But then again, if that's the case just run Avalanche Riders.
Speaking about Avalanche Riders, that card still seems pretty broken with haste and a self-sacrifice mechanism! Really gotta try it sometime..
I dunno. I run Flamekin Village and so Hanweir Battlements seems like a pretty straightforward swap. From there Hanweir Garrison seems like a pretty simple inclusion, though slots are getting really hard to come by lately.
The list i have posted is still remarkably close to the version I play to this day, its about 7 cards off. With such a versatile deck you can really just slot whatever strong creatures you want into it and it should run well. I don't know how competitive your meta is, but in a slightly cut throat meta, I do just fine most of the time.

thank you very much, that were great! by the way - the twin combo should be a natural fit here, right? with so many ETB effects? it puts a target on your head though.
Ya it does. I play french marchesa more then I do multiplayer (I play that too) and an almost dedicated Twin Exarch list just did very well on mtgtop8. It got 2nd place out of 118. I was playing a more agresaive variant but now I'm thinking of switching over to the full on combo list. I digress. Anyway the exarch combo works well here because Marchesa makes it harder to disrupt and the deck synergises with the pieces outside of the combo too.
French questions might be better aaked in my thread but I think so. I mean we still have access to black tutors and blinking Imperial Recruiter in and out of the GY with Marchesa can set up the combo too.
Meant to ask this question when they changed the mulligan rule, but how many lands/mana rocks should I run since you can no longer partial out big stuff out of your hand and keep lands. Right now I'm running 37 lands and 5 rocks is that good cause I've been having some issues to where I have a 2 land hand and then mull cause everything is around 4 and then get another 2 land or worse. Am I just playing bad cause from solitaring my deck it was happening around 1/5 games and imo that just isn't good.
Are we still discussing Hanweir Battlements and Hanweir Garrison at all? Battlements will probably go in because it is a colorless version of Flamekin Village that comes into play untapped, but Garrison seems a little weak compared to our other creatures. I may give Garrison a try just for the meld aspect.
I don't think the meld is worth it. It interacts poorly with Marchesa (no dethrone) and if it dies you get your 2/3 back. Lackluster for me. I have many more cards I would rather play.
I was looking at another forum and saw Mindclaw Shaman and thought that this card would be pretty good for marchesa any thoughts?
It's an interesting effect and reminds me of Dualcaster Mage. I'd rather have Dualcaster because I can flash it in when I want to rather than guessing someone's hand to look at. Dualcaster can also give you a copy of an X spell and Mindclaw can't.
Mindclaw is a bit RNG and for its cost its risky. I've been considering it but as my list progresses it's becoming more casual. I have less and less faith in any deck that needs to turn a dude sideways to win, but Marchesa has always been my favorite to still do so. The effect is super unique but maybe not worth the slot for what else you can do at that mana cost. For competetive focus, I'd assume anything beyond five needs to be in some way a win condition or disruptive enough to put the rest of the table behind.
Long time coming, but I finally updated the OP with my current decklist. It does not have the most recent set because I have not gotten my hands on anything in it yet.

So first of Chasm Skulker is amazing in this deck. There's no chance I could cut it for any of those cards. If you aren't playing with it then please try it, it's a giant PITA by itself and its a monster next to marchesa. Second of all we want creatures. Lots and lots of creatures. Especially cheap creatures whose power to mana cost ratio is efficient. Therefore generally cutting creatures that meet this bill for non-creatures is a bad idea.
Of the cards you mentioned the only one I'd really even consider is Lightning Greaves since it equips for free. I'm sure some people play it in their marchesa deck, personally I don't. Marchesa's protects my creatures, I don't need something else providing protection. And I much prefer my haste effects to also be creatures or take up a land slot, not non-creature non-lands. Retribution of the Ancients I personally have no interest in. I don't have problems with dealing with my opponents creatures and if I did I wouldn't play an enchantment that only does something if I have a built up board full of counters. I'm probably winning in that case, not sure what that adds to the picture.
I used to run Chasm Skulker and for me it never did really anything cause I have a lot of quick spot removal and graveyard hate. I think its just my meta to where I need my creatures to give me good immediate protection. I have to play against zur, 8.5, and kaalia normally and they all play a crap ton of gy hate R.I.P., leyline, etc. So normally I can't do any graveyard shenanigans and retribution has very often ended up letting me win games by acquiring a board state and getting counters on 2+ creatures and then being able to kill anything that comes out onto the board from my opponents while still leaving them with counters in case of a board wipe. I really think that if chasm skulker had when it leaves the battlefield rather than when it dies I would be sold, but because of the prevalence of black and white in my meta there are just too many exile spells that make me not want to use stuff that has the dies clause. Although Pain Seer is a creature I never really did test with but I probably should put it in.
Is everyone else as in love with Queen Marchesa as I am? I'm not sure how she compares to the origonal. Better? worse? on par? I think the whole monarch mechanic will be a lot of fun in casual environments.

I think she'd be fun to play, but I wish she'd stayed Grixis and complemented The Black Rose.

I think I actually prefer the Mardu colours. I found that blue doesn't really bring that much to the table and sometimes I've wished she were mardu instead.
She may not have board presence but I really like her for STAX or control applications. You can wipe the board, and even when the wipe kills Marchesa you're still "The Monarch". I don't think they are worlds apart in viability. Just in strategy.
I didn't say viability, just worlds apart. As in, theres no realm to really compare the two besides lore. I'm probably going to end up building her and keep this, I totally agree with stax and Mardu really hasn't had a good lead for it until now, which is pretty great.
They are both incredible in their own dedicated decks, which play drastically different. I don't understand the color transition, but I am cool with it.

Do agree the art of Hanweir, the Writhing Township is awesome though
