When the shards merged, Mayael found herself the general of Naya's mightiest army.
It's a Mayael deck and my first EDH deck running more than two colors! Go heavy on the creature count, cheat big things into play, and then proceed to smash face. But with the way that the deck is typically constructed, I decided to build it around one of my favorite cards: Primal Surge. I originally had Ring of Three Wishes and Planar Portal to help fetch Primal Surge as well as other cards to help me find these, but I decided to take them out. It actually got really old and boring to just find and ramp into Primal Surge every single game. I (and my friends) find it a lot more fun to let luck and probability take its course and top deck into it.
When I do resolve Primal Surge, I added some things to virtually guarantee a win. The most direct route is burning everyone with Purphoros, God of the Forge/Warstorm Surge triggering off 25+ creatures entering the battlefield. If players are still alive somehow, then just enter combat and swing in with all that hasty power. When someone asks if you have lethal power on board, just direct them to Avenger of Zendikar + Craterhoof Behemoth. But getting Fogged puts a massive damper on winning through combat damage. In that case, you could just sacrifice Oblivion Stone or sink mana into Scourge of Kher Ridges while you have Stalking Vengeance on board. Naya gives me access to Gisela, Blade of Goldnight who cuts your work in half and can often win games on her own. Aside from damage prevention, Time Stop and being forced to draw cards are the main things you have to be careful of after resolving Primal Surge.
I also had the same concerns about Fog effects when this deck was still just RG. Purphoros and Warstorm Surge help immensely, usually killing everyone at the table when Surge resolves. Blowing up my own board with Stalking Vengeance in play is usually lethal, too. Although now that I have Wvacyn, I'd need to sac her first. Grand Abolisher stops shenanigans, but I have Dosan the Falling Leaf and City of Solitude on hand if I feel like I need them. Leyline of Punishment is something I've been meaning to get, too.
