I've been in the process of adding my decks here on MTGSalvation for comments and suggestions and almost forgot my Vorosh, the Hunter Voltron deck. I play this primarily as a 1on1 deck, but since EDH is primarily a multiplayer format, I'm looking for some suggestions that will allow me to expand this deck into the occasional 4-6 person game and not get completely blown out. Currently the deck plays very well in a 1on1 setting, and is capable of getting out Vorash and swinging through for the win within 7-8 turns consistently with the right ramp and protection. In a 3 person game it invariably is determined by who is the first player to become the target in what typically always turns into a 2on1 until someone dies. (This is my biggest problem with 3 player games and why I don't consider them to be true multiplayer, but that's a conversation for another thread...) Anyways, on to the deck:
As with just about any Voltron deck, the basic idea is to get Vorosh on the field, turn him sideways with or without equipment, and win through general damage. Vorosh has the added bonus in that hitting the opponent makes him bigger even without equipment due to his ability. That ability turns out to be just as big of a down side though because after a couple swings he's clearly the biggest threat on the table in a multiplayer game when he can start one-shotting opponents for the win.
This another deck I built a few years ago and am now getting around to trying to make it more focused and competitive. I just added the DEN and switched out Cryptic Command and Spelljack for Rewind and Spin into Myth. Even though this deck can ramp well and rarely can't make any of its colors on demand, I've lost a couple games due to that triple U so they had to go.
I've been thinking about trying to get a Batterskull for more Lifelink and a Whip of Erebos for additional creature recursion. I'm open to any ideas, opinions, and suggestions for the deck, so let me know what you think.
If you're going to add more lifelink, I would add Necropotence and possibly Sword of War and Peace. You say you ramp well, but I don't see any ramp at all besides Sad Robot and Sol Ring. How about Oracle of Mul Daya and some traditional Cultivate/Kodama's Reach? Just glancing at the list, your average cmc is probably around 4, so you will want all the ramp and card draw you can get to ensure you hit eery land drop. Plus, with a 6-drop general it's vital that you never run out of mana. Speaking of mana curve, your creatures look pretty solid. Have you considered Birthing Pod?
Birthing Pod is a great idea! I haven't messed with this deck in quite some time, and I was realizing the ramp issue playing it Friday night. This was the first EDH deck I put together, and it was a few years ago before I understood proper ramp. I definitely need to optimize the rezz effects as well like using Regrowth. This deck was mostly designed for 1on1 play, but as I play much more multiplayer now, I need to try and make the voltron strategy a little more resilient to multiple threats. I'm thinking of trying to squeeze in Asceticism and maybe some wrath effects like Damnation or Toxic Deluge. This deck is going to be my next revision project as soon as I get a couple cards for my Samurai deck.
