Fair enough, Firebrand is pretty sweet but Lightning Berserker is good all on its own since you can dash it to get haste if your graveyard is empty and/or got exiled somehow. It wouldn't hurt to run both I suppose

I need a few more games with Atarka Pummeler (I've only seen it once, and it was in a 1v1) to make a decision on it, and then I'll swap in Lightning Berseker. After than, I'll make my decision on what's being changed.
Because it is likely going to take me some time to figure out what I want to include/remove from this deck, I'm going to do a small update with the cards that I've decided are a guaranteed change. I'll do a second update once I've figured out what else I want to include; I'm looking at Lightning Berseker, Atarka Pummeler, Warren Instigator, Torpor OrbVulshock Battlemaster, and World at War.
I haven't gotten much use out of SDT, unfortunately, so I'm going to cut it. I'll also be upgrading Act on Impulse to Commune with Lava, the latter being much more flexible in my opinion.
Berserkers' Onslaught has been fantastic for me as well, having a second mass double strike effect has won me a few games already.
Im curious how the games have been going recently.
They've been going pretty well! I've made my decision on nearly every card I wanted to play test. Only Lightning Berserker is still up in the air, because I don't think that it's impactful enough.
The other thing I was curious was have you tried Spinerock Knoll?
Somewhat. The number of non-basic lands I'm running is a concern, as I've Vientiane got Smoldering Crater in as well, and it's most likely going to stay. I can certainly try it though, once if find a copy!
I'm swapping Thran Dynamo for Gilded Lotus, as I feel the colored mana is worth the extra mana it takes to cast it.
A while back, ISB recommend that I run Warren Instigator as a cheap sword carrier. Having obtained a copy, I'm swapping it in for Mind's Eye, which I don't use to it's full potential in this deck as is.
Side Note: I am pretty sure I might try to make this deck and play a goblin sub-package. Have you thought about that espically since Piledriver has been reprinted?
Flameshadow Conjuring looks really good for a deck like this as well. Considering that Lovisa gives each of her friends +2/+2 its possible that Chandra's Ignition could be worth talking about as well because assuming most of the creatures you run a 2/2s or bigger you could drop it on Lovisa and sweep up the trash blockers. It would really depend on the situation of when you drop it though as to if it would work or not.
Goblin Piledriver is probably not so great here because most of the goblins you would have to run to make him worthwhile are not worth running in this deck. It would be surprising if he really got much buff for tribal buff at any time. I don't think its worth the money nor do I think it would be very good.
My thing with piledriver would be there would need to be a goblin package that would have to be run to make him worth it and I was curious if She had thought about. In my hypothetical version of this deck currently my goblin package is:
The problem as I see it is that Goblin Piledriver really cant rely on having more than like +1 other goblin without investing so heavily that those creatures are lesser picks for the deck in general. If you get a large package of goblins that you feel are worth running without the piledriver then I think its fine but when you start adding cards to interact with another specific card that isn't your commander I get worried about it.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Fair enough. I see where you are coming from on this. I won't be able to ensure that I have more than 1 other goblin out most likely but in my little package I feel like they all are worth inclusions, the only 2 that don't play with Lovisa are Kiki and Matron, both of which serve a purpose with having a package. So I don't feel like any of them are taking space other than Beetleback Chief but that card is a bit of a pet card. So I'm curious which ones you are worried about taking spots from other creatures?
But yeah I feel like Piledriver will probably never be more then a 5/4 in a game but hey that's 5 damage to that blue players face. XP
EDIT: I might actually add Goblin Chirurgeon back in instead of beetleback for the regeneration. IDK I'm planning on solidifing my list tonight so I'll have more of an idea.
I haven't looked super in depth at all of the new releases yet, I do set reviews for all of my primers/primers in progress, so I'd rather do it all at once, but the cards that really caught my eye for this deck were Enthralling Victor, Scab-Clan Berserker, and Chandra's Ignition.
Enthralling Victor because tribal theft effects aren't super common. Also, because of the art. Yay for abs, and the goblin in the right corner is hilarious.
Scab-Clan Berserker because it kind of fits a similar area as Ash Zealot, and I can definitely get some use out of its ability in my play group.
And Chandra's Ignition for similar reasons that ISB lists below. I like a psuedo board wipe that can hit the problem creatures in my play group, as well as potentially leave my board alive.
Side Note: I am pretty sure I might try to make this deck and play a goblin sub-package. Have you thought about that espically since Piledriver has been reprinted?
Again love to hear your thoughts.
I've thought about throwing in a goblin package for cards like Krenko, Mob Boss, but it would take a lot of moving cards around to fit that kind of thing in. I'd almost rather build a goblin tribal deck. Wizards has also started to print a lot of versatile warriors, so I can see the room for that kind of package shrinking as more sets are printed.
That said, it could probably be doable, I just like what I'm running.

That's what I was thinking, and it removes most of the threats in my play group.
Flameshadow Conjuring is one that I'll have to play with, I'm not really sure what to think of it without play testing it first. But, it is a super aggressive card, so there's that.
So I here is the list I am thinking of running. Currently I cut a couple cards due to budget reasoning aka Cavern of Souls. Any Suggestions for changes from you two veteran Lisova players?
Its probably also worth mentioning that its not worth running Chandra's Ignition unless you are already running Mizzium Mortars (im not checking anyone's lists just stating in general) already as its a lot less niche and fragile. I think its possible to run both of them though to decent effect.

I like that Chandra's Ignition can scale, by casting it on a creature bigger than Lovisa. It'll wipe your board, but it's flexible. And, while it won't come up super often, it does work with things like infect/life link/double damage/etc.
The next few times I play, I was going to keep am due on the size of everyone's creatures on average, and decide from there.
Hey! Awesome list! I've been checking it out for a bit now, getting ideas for my own mono red list. Its been really helpful, so thank you!
What do you think of the new set? I feel that red got a lot of great engines that would be worth looking at. Would Sword of the Animist be worth it in this build?
Also, as a red player I have had some trouble with blue deck. Not just counter, but Cyclonic Rift is a total blow out. Have you considered cards like Red Elemental Blast, or is it too cute? Also, what do you think of Reiterate as a counterspell for counterspells? I was looking at those recently and they do seem really strong, especially Reiterate since you can buy it back. What are your thoughts?

My own opinion of the new sword is that its an equipment that matters for long game decks that need big mana. By the time it gets online with creatures to attack with it you don't really care all that much about your total land count.
Defense for cyclonic - don't worry about it I guess is my thought process on it. Its too much work to add situational cards that might matter to a deck that needs to come out fast swinging. Rebuild afterwards is my suggestion and or kill the control player first. You will end up becoming too slow if you try to keep narrow responsive answers to specific strategies in a deck like this.

I see your reasoning. Also, it may add unwanted attention swinging at other players early in the game just for a land drop. But you do need to look into the fact that it does thin your library. That in itself maybe worth looking into.
Its a little hard to ignore it. I mean, there is the mentality of don't attack into 7 mana, but when the mana is always open, how to you play around that? I do agree situational cards are clunky, so I wonder are there cards that can be versatile, one of their functions being stopping disruptive magic.

Well... if you really want to play responses vs control I guess I would consider some of the following:
Obviously some of those are better and or worse than others. I like the Price of Glory and I think the Citadel of Pain / Manabarbs plan still punishes fairly good for mana hungry control decks. I guess more than not attacking the player with 7 mana in blue up I would try to refrain from tapping out in your first main and attack them with mana up to replay your board first. The super narrow answers to an answer are just going to be too narrow to run if you ask me.

Thanks! I'm glad that you found it helpful.
What do you think of the new set? I feel that red got a lot of great engines that would be worth looking at. Would Sword of the Animist be worth it in this build?
I've liked some of the cards that I've seen, but I haven't really looked through the spoiled cards for this deck yet (being sick kind of put a damper on that). Sword of the Animist seems good on paper, if not a little slow. I definitely want to try it. My group usually has larger games so it might help me out when the games inevitably go longer.
But, I'm going to reserve judgement on it un to l I can try it out.
To be honest, I haven't put too much into this deck to deal with counter magic other than Cavern of Souls, because even when I get a fast start, this deck doesn't usually draw a lot of attention. My opponents have bigger fish to try (that'that's honestly how I've won most of my games with this deck ). I pulled out all of my copy effects because there really want ever any good targets for them. My playgroup is also fairly controly, but a lot of that is removal. If you think that you can get some milage out of it though, I say go for it!
As for Rift, board wipes that bounce are actually my favorites, because they're easy to recover from, thanks to Lovisa granting haste. Of course, my philosophy for stuff like that is to make my opponents use it on my terms, and not theirs. I'd rather the blue player Rift to keep my from killing them than to clear the board so that they can set up for a win.
ISB have some really good suggestions though. I particularly like War's Toll and Prove of Glory from experience.
Okay! So, I ended up having bronchitis, and not the flu, so I'm only just starting to really recover. Because of how long I ended up being sick for, I don't think I'll end up doing a set review for Origins unfortunately.
However, here's a quick run down of what I'm testing out:
I'm not sure what I'll actually add to the deck out of these, but there were some interesting effects printed in this set. It may be a little while until I can get to an actual update, though, due to the amount of cards I'm interested in.
So excited because today I found out about salvat magic which was a very old and kinda hard to find handout in europe and our girl, Lovisa Coldeyes got printed in it. Now whats so different from another Italian card?
So I may have wasted 4,38 euros on it but man its pretty in all it's white bordered glory.

So far the main two that I think could be interesting for your deck are:
Scab-clan Berserker: Mostly because of your high density of creatures.
Enthralling Victor: Seem like it could be fun. also Abs...
But I'd love to hear your thoguhts.
