I recently acquired a Eureka and tossed it in for fun. It's lost me one or two games - but it's usually outstanding and great at wrapping a game up quickly.
I'm still loving playing my similar build of this deck all the time.
Ah, the last of the enchantment block, Journey into Nyx. Been busy recently (not playing mtg much) hence the lack of updates, but I feel that it won't do justice to this thread if there isn't any update at all, so here it is.
Like Born of the Gods, I'll list down cards which I find interesting to include in the deck. For this new set G has significantly more bombs than the other 2 colors. Felt a little disappointed not to see an enchantment version of Phyrexian Metamorph in the set, oh well.
Eidolon of Blossoms
YES! Our 5th enchantress for the deck. A must include if you ask me. The spirit works slightly differently from the normal enchantress as it works on ETB rather than on cast. Really good when paired with cards that puts enchantments into play like Wargate or even better, Replenish (which also coincidentally replenishes your hand, nice name). It also makes flickerform a more worthwhile include.
Minimum slot change: 1 Card's synergy with deck: 10/10 Inclusion rating: 9000+/10 (Power level over 9000, just include no questions asked.)
Market Festival
Dawn's Reflection copy no.2. By right it is an auto include but I leave it to you guys to balance the number of 'mana enchantments'. 1 extra 'rock' = 1 less protection/kill spell.
Amongst the 3 fonts released in Journey into Nyx block, the G is the best. It is an enchantment based rampant growth, which is good for thinning the deck a little bit just to increase our chances of drawing more enchantments. Font of Fortunes is more situational though, costing 4cc in total to yield a +1 card advantage. The white one is too weak imo, running Contemplation is much better than the white font.
Minimum slot change: 2 Card's synergy with deck: 7/10 Inclusion rating: 5-8/10 (8 for Font of Fertility)
The Dictates
The 2 flash enchantments, really situational if you ask me. Dictate of Karametra stands out more as a mana booster, but we do have quite a fair bit of mana doublers currently (Heartbeat of Spring, Mirari's Wake, Mana reflection). Dictate of Kruphix functions more like a Howling Mine, flashing it end of turn means we can get the extra draw first. However it pales in comparsion to staple blue enchantments like Rhystic Study and Mystic Remora.
Time for a little thread necromancy... ahem "I agree"
So I built Derevi a month ago based alot on your build. It has been SUPER fun to play and even wins quite often.
Though my playgroup tends to stay away from infinite combos so I am not taking full advantage of your build, Instead I am going ultra synergistic with Gaea's Cradle and Serra's Sanctum (Just short of infinite haha) and more weird stompy by using Gods
But my friend asked a question, why am I not playing Aura Thief...why in the nine hells am I not playing with Aura Thief? I am already playing enchanted evening and have enchantments that sac creature via Fanatical Devotion and [card]Martyr's Cause[/card. So have just added it, I am sure it will be halarious once or twice before my friends catch on and Enchanted evening becomes a kill on sight card
What are your thoughts on ending the game via stealing everyone's everything (Except auras, way to fail Aura Thief)?
Thanks for liking the thread, the main reason I don't use Aura Thief is more often or not, the thief in the end won't be me. For most of the time, Aura Thief will get copied, or controlled before the other combo piece is out, making me lose all my enchantments. A bad case scenario is when an opponent successfully resolved a Bribery, targeting the Aura Thief in my deck, and sacrificing it to his High Market.

Hi Burntgerbil, how's Eureka been working along for you? If I remember correctly your build is more of a resource control type of deck? Won't the card Eureka go in the opposite direction with cards like Land Equilibrium and Back to Basics?
Curious to see a current build of this deck. I started throwing it together, missing quite a bit still but managed to win two of the three multiplayer games I've played with it so far (although how much of that is the others not realizing what im doing yet im not sure).
I do have a few additional enchants of the pillowfort variety still here, mostly because I just dont have everything yet. Detention Sphere seems like a basic inclusion, as I dont play so much anymore I was wondering why it doesnt get a spot here. Maybe I am missing something.
Anyways, love the list, cant wait till I have it all the way done.
Hi there - its definitely been awhile since I've checked back here but out of the dozen decks I play, my Derevi enchantress remains one of my top go-to picks.
Eureka has been taken out of my build - and I'm not playing so much resource denial anymore - mostly accellerants and utility.
Its unfortunate that we didn't get more from Theros block - I was hoping for a bestow wild growth and a few other things.

Yeah, I too was hoping for more enchantress bombs in Theros, especially a enchantment clone (similar to Phyrexian Metamorph).

I do also run a drenchantress deck.
Thanks for this primer it has been a great inspiration.
As a kill condition i run blasting station.
You could give it a try!
Any intersting cards in m15?
Would you guys mind posting your current lists?
@Wittox, thanks for liking the thread. I've updated the post to my current deck list. Yep blasting station is a very nice card to combo with Derevi. For my case I would like to keep the win cons of the deck to enchantments, as this deck is enchantment themed.
For M15 there is only 1 card which caught my attention: Genesis Hydra. This is really a staple for all decks that runs G, apart from spell-slinger.dec.
Notes:
Quite a fair bit of changes to the deck since it is last updated, tried out some cards here and there and the above are the changes. Took out Misty Rainforest mainly due to me selling off my entire playset @$96 each. Now hopefully is a good time to buy some of them back. With the new Eidolon of Blossoms, Recycle seems to lose its edge, being a 6cc high cast cost enchantment. Burgeoning feels very out of place as the deck doesn't have a good way to tutor lands into hand. Mana Bloom is replaced with Font of Fertility.
Lands count is also reduced by 1 to 34 lands as the deck generally has quite a low curve of 2.98avg cc. Also reduce the number of non-colored lands as the deck is generally very color intensive.
Notable Inclusions
Copy Artifact -> Energy Flux
Since the deck only has 1 artifact, this is a good card to run, slows opponents who rely on artifact mana down. It also provides a target for opponents to kill off rather than them taking out my other enchantments.
M15 and Conspiracy
M15 Bomb - Genesis Hydra
The best card in M15 for Enchantress.dec. Generally used to dig further into the deck for combo pieces and works nicely with Derevi's infinite mana engine and Cloudstone Curio. A must include!
Awesome updates! I've been tweaking my list a little at a time lately and its good to see what you got. I run the ravnica karoos, lotus Vale, soldevi excavations (for their synergy with mana reflection). Because of this, I'm testing Oath of Lieges.
Land Tax seems better than oath to me. But I haven't tested that. I started my list with sky bind and took it out...put it back, then back out again. Just never worked right for me, but it seems like it should be great.
Thinking about it, if you wanted to try a different approach you could run oath and land tax with back to basics and hall of gemstone and other mana hosers, could be sweet in some areas....although people can get mad when you mess with their mana.
I also don't know if I could afford to drop wheel of sun and moon...I also run rest in peace, gy hate seems too important and they both also work with the energy field I still run.
Mana bloom is one of my favorite cards in the list, don't think I'd switch to the font. Different approaches I guess. I still like my slightly more tool box mode, lol..it might be worse but it let's me interact more and adapt rather than playing pure combo. I still run the combo pieces you have here because I think they are amazing, just slightly different paths to get there.
I am really intrigued to see how your deck lists looks like souloflight and Burntgerbil, do you both mind posting your deck list? Yep, I've added back Mana Bloom after testing out the green Font. Both of them actually worked quite well in the deck. Plea for Power and Parallax Wave are disappointing.
Wheel of Sun and Moon is dependent on the meta, there are currently not too many reanimators in my meta, making the card feel like 'useless' apart from targeting myself in the deck. Artifacts however, are prevalent hence the inclusion of traditional hosers like Stony Silence.
Recently discovered a 'new' combo which I left out in the deck, kind of overlooked it due to the errata on the card.
Oracle rulings for Dance of Many:
When Dance of Many enters the battlefield, put a token that's a copy of target nontoken creature onto the battlefield.
Can't believe that I failed to realise/missed out that Dance of Many is a 2/2 non-token enchantment "creature" under the effects Opalescence after playing for so long. Oh well, good to learn something new about the deck everyday.
Been thinking of ways to make the deck have more interactions and functions other than just playing hosers and comboing out. Anyone has any ideas?
I really enjoyed reading through your mini-primer here. I've been working on building Enchantress for a while now, and I'm thinking of moving into Bant colors. This build has been a nice inspiration, but there is the problem of my playgroup generally frowning on infinite combos. If you were in such an environment, how would you recommend going about building/retooling Derevi?

@TribalElfMage:
Thanks for liking the thread. I am too facing the same problem of "no infinites" with a new playgroup I've joined recently at my LGS. Derevi is generally frowned upon in that playgroup, be it the combo enchantress version, the stax version, blink version or prison version.
There is no way to drop off all the infinites in the current deck list, it will make combo enchantress lose the combo factor totally. However, we can reduce the likelihood of getting an infinite mana engine resulting in a straight infinite win by reducing the number of key cards and adding more "enchantress~cy durdle engines".
Note: the following is conceptual, testing needed
The key offenders to remove are the following 5:
Earthcraft
Parallax Wave
Angelic Renewal
Martyr's Cause
Blind Obedience
With these 4 gone, the chances of comboing off are reduced by quite a fair bit, and we lose one of our combo game-enders.
Next is adding cards which are on theme and will aid us to win, which is now mainly through the aggro route. The very first card I would recommend is Dismiss into Dream. Extremely powerful card, prevents opponents from equipping their voltron commanders and it makes Derevi into a 4cc instant plowshare. It also combines nicely with Skybind allowing us to permanently kill off opponents' creatures while we cast enchantments. With some tricks it can become really, really political.
It is always nice to give power to your opponents and watch what happens.
We also need to bolster our fighting ranks. Apart from Opalescence, the aggro power of enchantress deck is generally very pathetic. Using creature tokens is a nice way to help increase our battle power. Replace one of the mana auras with Awakening Zone, drop Wheel of Sun and Moon for Nightsoil. Creature tokens come in all sorts of flavors, soldier tokens, spirit tokens, pegasus tokens, centaur tokens so on and forth. I'll highlight the important token enchantment cards and what synergy they bring.
Bant's most interesting tri-color token durdle engine:
Followed Footsteps creates a creature token of the creature it enchants. Parallel Lives doubles the amount of tokens that ETBs. Both are good cards that aid the token strategy.
Qn: What if, Followed Footsteps is enchanted on an animated Parallel Lives? How many Parallel Lives tokens will we actually have after 3 upkeeps, assuming opponents are oblivious about it? (Which I think they shouldn't lol)
The last 3 cards which crossed my mind in the token strategy are:
No shrieking drake? We can replace it with the Rancor + Faith Healer combination.
My list is fairly close to yours I guess. I do run solitary confinement and energy field though asmeans to protect myself. There are just some times when I can't get dovescape/humility to be the right answer. Solitary and to a lesser extent energy field are catch all for all sorts of problems. Energy field works well as it combines nicely with either wheel or rest in peace which I also run. I don't run concordant crossroads because at times it helps the opponent and I find that when I'm combing out its pretty irrelevant whether I win now or the next turn after my opponents are locked out of the game. Otherwise I don't really have much tech for yah outside of hypothetical ideas for later testing. You were the answer to my quest to do something with derevi that wasn't so obvious. I've got a nice semi competitive playgroup I'm waiting to play this with, gonna catch them napping I think ;). The deck is defiantly great though for causuAL crude I find though too..you can determine pretty easily how aggressive you want to be in combing out. It is very easy to play this deck as the political "hey look I'm screwing up your enemies for you" guy at the table as you can really pack all kinds of general hate cards in here, and since they effect everybody you aren't seen as a direct threat, until you are ready.
I'll try to post a list up tomorrow after work.
Oh and I'm still a fan of parallax tide. Sure it is sorta unnecessary since we can bounce derevi to just tap lands in the combo, but it's good if derevi gets tucked, and I certainly find myself short term removing key lands to buy myself time fairly frequently.
Besides the obvious impersonator has anybody else seen anything from khans I'm maybe missing?
Also, on an off note. I didn't notice any talk of course of kruphix. Seems like it could work. It might not be optimal, but curious if anybody has tried it out.
Fuji Xerox-man (Clever Impersonator) is what we call it in our meta is a 100% in for the deck, or rather for any EDH deck with blue in it. There are no other cards from KTK set that really catches my eye.
Have not really tested Courser of Kruphix, same with Burntgerbil I will probably add one after they drop in price. Currently they don't really add much value to the deck and increases "solitaire" time quite substantially by forcing us to reveal every single card on top of the library as we draw.
It is now hard for me to get more games in with this deck, the playgroup I'm playing with seems to dislike decks that take really long turns when combo off. They rather combo players have Kiki-Zealous wins than looking at 1 player making plays over 10 mins just to earn the win. The only chance I can get to play this deck is when I meet up with my old EDH group, which only meets up bimonthly, sighz.
I live outside the metro DC area and I get the chance to play a few nights a week - with a few different shops at each. My derevi is particularly notorious for table vomit.
I'm fiddling about with a few cards in my deck currently:
They're all great so far. Stellar. My list is packed tighter than a fat guy's lunchbox right now - And I'm sure there will be one or two cards in CMD14, too.
Courser wouldn't change too much for me since I'm already running futuresight. Sinice I'm loving that card, having another sorta similar effect seemed maybe worth a shot.
One really interesting thing to highlight is Frontier Siege. The dragon ability can be used as a pseudo sacrifice engine for Derevi if you have a mana engine going but no way to sacrifice Derevi. Eg...
Opponent Prereq: Opponent controls an Avacyn/Ulamog/or any other big creature with indestructible
Self Prereq: Frontier Siege with Dragon choice, Land that taps for WUG1+extras
Effect: Infinite mana
Commander 2014:
Commander 2014 gives us Song of the Dryads, a really helpful aura that helps a lot in controlling problematic permanents.
MTG: Origins
MTG:Origins is slowly becoming the enchantress happy set, Theros was such a disappointment since it was supposed to be an enchantment set (well, besides the green Eidoleon). Starfield of Nyx, Evolutionary Leap and Herald of the Pantheon are all-stars that deserve a slot in the deck.
Notes: Energy Flux[/card[ and Stony Silence is out, though they are good prison enchantments, they paint an extremely huge target on my head once they are out on early turns. The 2 cards also don't really contribute much when comboing off. Genesis Hydra so far is a hit and a miss, but basically it is not really worth investing a big amount of mana just to get another enchantment out. With the change in commander tuck rulings, Bant Charm loses its utility and is replace with a more efficient Venser, Shaper Savant.
Plea for Power is mediocre for this deck. Works better in spellslingers.
Notable Inclusions
Venser, Heavy Lifter
Venser is a star card in this deck, I really wonder why I didn't include it in the decklist in the first place. He just do so much and have so much synergy with the entire enchantress.dec. Here is a list of what he enables besides countering spells and returning a permanent.
Venser mana engine
Pre-requisite: Earthcraft + Dawn's Reflection(+ any other land aura combination, land that taps 5cc with UU) on a basic land Effect: Infinite colored mana
To achieve the 5 mana land pre-requisite, enchant a basic land with land auras. We can do it in a few different combinations, like Dawn's reflection + copy enchantment, or overgrowth + fertile ground + utopia sprawl. Just mix and play.
How to use the combo:
Cast Venser
As Venser's ETB is put on the stack, targeting himself.
Tap Venser in response using Earthcraft to untap the 5mana+ land.
Resolve the untap trigger
Resolve the bounce trigger, returning Venser to hand
Restart from 1 until you get infinite mana of all colors.
Other Notes:
Coincidently this works pretty well with Recycle too, but the deck is just too tight to have space for it.
Venser in Parallax Opalesence
Pre-requisite: Earthcraft + Dawn's Reflection(+ any other land aura combination, land that taps 5cc with UU) on a basic land Effect: Bounce all opponents permanents, return all opponents spells, basically an "I win" combo
How to use the combo:
Refer to opalesence combo. Choose to bounce Vener for the ETB effect.
MTG Origins
Herald of the Pantheon
Finally an enchantress cost reducer after so many years since Mana Matrix (Cloudkey not counted). Obvious synergy with the entire deck. Gives tremendous value when paired with cloudstone curio and mana bloom. Basically Bloom is self-cast with Herald on the board.
One of the most powerful G creature tutors ever printed in enchantment format imo. This fits into Derevi enchantress more than Survival of the fittest or any other enchantment creature tutor. Basically when you have a land that can tap for WUGG1 and Evolutionary leap in play, you get to "tutor for all the creatures in your deck". Will post up in the combos section in a while.
Minimum slot change: 1 Card's synergy with deck: 9/10 (due to Derevi as a commander) Inclusion rating: 10/10
Starfield of Nyx
A much weaker Opalesence with built in recursion. Not really sure whether it is a good include since we already running Opalesence.
I find Willbreaker to be an excellent addition, though my list is slightly less combo-centric and contains a few more auras. Still, Derevi does a fine enough job of triggering it.
I noticed you don't have Sol Ring or Mana Crypt? I'm absolutely in love with the idea of this deck but is there any reason you don't include any of the cards that many seem to consider staples?
I'm looking to make it as competitive as possible!

Wellbreaker is a good card. My concern is if the deck goes off, I would rather willbreaker be another enchantment that keep the combo going.
I noticed you don't have Sol Ring or Mana Crypt? I'm absolutely in love with the idea of this deck but is there any reason you don't include any of the cards that many seem to consider staples?
I'm looking to make it as competitive as possible!
Personally I would prefer to keep this deck as thematic as possible, recently I just removed cloudstone curio from the deck list, making it artifact~less. Sol Ring and Mana Crypt are really powerful ramps, my recent games all lost when the opponent has them in their early turns. Some opponents managed cast out Maelstorm Wanderer as early as turn 3, powered by the the 2 rocks.
If I can only put 1 artifact into enchantress, the card would be Candelabra of Tawnos, no contest. The only problem is the price of it...
For an enchantress combo deck to function, it needs to keep a certain threshold of enchantments. Putting in staples of Bant like prophet of kruphix, deadeye navigator etc, is going to dilute the deck by a lot. Even with 40+ enchantments, it is already hard to keep the draw-play combo going. Played quite a number of games with Derevi over the past couple of weeks, more tweaking to come. The deck has a bit of inconsistency especially in the ramp aspect, it is very hard to race against other decks that runs many many mana rocks. Will have to look into adding more ramp.
Monastery Mentor is a good replacement for Ajani Chosen, it can be brought back by Sun Titan and is easily casted with just a single W in the cost.

EDIT: I picked up a Candelabra a few years back for Karn and I'll vouch for it's greatness in this list. It's truly astonishing here.

Also, on an off note. I didn't notice any talk of course of kruphix. Seems like it could work. It might not be optimal, but curious if anybody has tried it out.

I'm fiddling about with a few cards in my deck currently:
They're all great so far. Stellar. My list is packed tighter than a fat guy's lunchbox right now - And I'm sure there will be one or two cards in CMD14, too.
Coming off from where I left off...
Khans of Thakir block:
The KTK block (all 3 sets) brought the 3 sieges (Frontier Siege, Monastery Siege, Citadel Siege) and Sheltered Aerie. But in all it didn't really add much to Derevi Enchantress.

- Font of Fertility
- Energy Flux
- Genesis Hydra
- Plea for Power
- Bant Charm
- Stony Silence
+ Mana Bloom
+ Venser, Shaper Savant
+ Clever Impersonator
+ Herald of the Pantheon
+ Evolutionary Leap
+ Starfield of Nyx
Notes:
Energy Flux[/card[ and Stony Silence is out, though they are good prison enchantments, they paint an extremely huge target on my head once they are out on early turns.
Pre-requisite: Earthcraft + Dawn's Reflection(+ any other land aura combination, land that taps 5cc with UU) on a basic land
Effect: Infinite colored mana
To achieve the 5 mana land pre-requisite, enchant a basic land with land auras. We can do it in a few different combinations, like Dawn's reflection + copy enchantment, or overgrowth + fertile ground + utopia sprawl. Just mix and play.
How to use the combo:
Other Notes:
Coincidently this works pretty well with Recycle too, but the deck is just too tight to have space for it.
Venser in Parallax Opalesence
Pre-requisite: Earthcraft + Dawn's Reflection(+ any other land aura combination, land that taps 5cc with UU) on a basic land
Effect: Bounce all opponents permanents, return all opponents spells, basically an "I win" combo
Minimum slot change: 1
Card's synergy with deck: 10/10
Inclusion rating: 10/10
Evolutionary Leap
One of the most powerful G creature tutors ever printed in enchantment format imo. This fits into Derevi enchantress more than Survival of the fittest or any other enchantment creature tutor. Basically when you have a land that can tap for WUGG1 and Evolutionary leap in play, you get to "tutor for all the creatures in your deck". Will post up in the combos section in a while.
Minimum slot change: 1
Card's synergy with deck: 9/10 (due to Derevi as a commander)
Inclusion rating: 10/10
Starfield of Nyx
A much weaker Opalesence with built in recursion. Not really sure whether it is a good include since we already running Opalesence.
Minimum slot change: 1
Card's synergy with deck: 9/10
Inclusion rating: 7/10

Wellbreaker is a good card. My concern is if the deck goes off, I would rather willbreaker be another enchantment that keep the combo going.
