So this will be my first ever attempt at putting together an original deck. More and more people are playing tribal in my group so I thought I'd join in! Here is what I've come with so far. At this point my wincon is to draw cards and beat them down with flyers (my playgroup allows no infinte combos or counterspells). With my commander being who it is I'd like to lean heavily on artifacts here so I can keep recurring them, still remember its a tribal deck. I'll be the first to admit I'm not the best deckbuilder so I need all the help I can get!
I totally just went through magiccards.info and picked sphinxes that looked good, some ramp, card draw and removal and the thread with the top 50 cards of each color. Haven't worked out a manabase yet (hardest thing ever for me to do). So as of now its a total mess of stuff I thought would work well in a sphinx tribal deck.
Edit: at this point 10.07.2012 I feel like I have too much ramp/fixing and not enough targeted removal also feels like my manabase is shaky. Also can I go more artifact heavy while still sticking to the sphinx tribal...
Other than that I think you have too many creatures and not enough interactive cards you need to be able to either interact with your opponents or ramp to start landing sphinxes faster.
Counterspells, kill spells, boardwipes.
Particularly you lack artifact and enchantment removal.

I need more mass removal than Terminus, Oblivion Stone (recurrable), Wrath, Planar Cleansing? I thought I was heavy already. No counters allowed in my group. So I need more targeted removal and artifact and enchantment removal eh? I also really didn't think I had too many creatures but I'll look again at my list. Like I said, this is my first deck I'm brewing myself so its something like a toddler flailing about in a pile of cards here!
I'd find space for Darksteel Forge. Makes your artifact beatsticks much more difficult to kill.
I don't see why you are not running Magister Sphinx. Such an amazing card.
Cards like Magisters Sphinx are not amazing...it's a 7 mana I win spell lol. My playgroup doesn't tolerate things like that. Thanks for the input though. Ill run Darksteel Forge when I have enough artifacts in the list to justify it for sure. At this point I want to make sure it stays a Sphinx tribal deck and doesn't completely shift to an artifact deck.
You will be suprised how hard it is to kill someone with 10 life.
Last time someone played magistrate sphinx in a game... it was cloned by the other players in the game and the game went for another two hours. #blue mirror matches

Because you have the potential to reduce an opponent to 10 life on turn 7. If I played that card I would get instantly focused down. I don't want to turn this into a debate about my playgroup but they don't look kindly on things like that.
Edit: Made a few changes. Hopefully I'm not too creatures heavy here. Still have no idea what to do for a manabase lol.
Tweaked a bunch of stuff. Cut some redundant ramp, a few creatures, put together my landbase, added Ethersworn Adjudicator for some recurrable removal.
Looks like a fun card to play in a tribal deck but I imagine the enchanted creature would get smoked the first chance my opponent gets, lol. I'll have to test er out!
i feel like pillowforting i.e. ghostly prisonpropaganda is a flavor win since sphinxes are traditionally gatekeepers and such and you have to do a task or answer a riddle to get past. i'm gonna start working on a similar deck so i'll be posting it soon but this idea excites me for sure

You kind of have an infinite combo then... Phyrexian metamorph (with M14 rules you only need any clone)
A single blood artist wins you the game.

Debitors Knell is also super good with cards like sphinx of Uuthun.

For tutors you should be running Entomb{if you can afford it) and Buried Alive. Reshape and Transmute Artifact are also powerful tutors.
