This list has been very helpful - I'm inspired to morph it into a Glissa gorgon tribal build. The ramp/control base works well with getting those big snake ladies out. Glissa's practically an honorary gorgon anyway (deathtouch with an affinity for rocks). And it lets me do the fun artifact shenanigans I liked about my Sharuum deck, hopefully without the giant target on my head.
Wow I was very skeptical about this deck list. I had been running a Glissa attrition style deck list and it just always felt... lacking. The eggs getting dropped, recycled, replayed, largely goes unnoticed and with a constant supply of answers the eggs recycle often even when Glissa isn't indestructible. It'd be great if Glissa had a nother way or two to stick around again and again but I haven't found any.
The only issue I've had is I wish Glissa had a bigger win. IE: I've won all my games through extort and draw triggers. While this worked, it wasn't very exciting. Maybe it's just me but I could see myself adding some mass grave reanimate kind of finish. If I make any substantial changes to the Original Decklist I'll go ahead and post. Thank you for a fantastic idea and an extremely fun way to play Glissa!
One change I did make is I included a voyager staff to accompany fleshbag, slime, etc... as well as just to protect Glissa. Paired up with anything that causes glissa triggers is extremely disgusting!
Glissa is very grindy but sometimes you can't win the late game. Basically don't forget to actually put some threats in your deck and not get stuck just trying to only draw cards and destory things. You are a green black deck and you can't counter anything if you wait too long to win you will die to exsanguinate, someone taking 5 extra turns or some combo. Against slower deck you have to repeatedly put up a threat get it killed or countered then play the next one over and over. the card draw is just to find your next threat so you can exhaust your opponents.
I have a Glissa deck that I started putting together a few weeks ago when my LGS co-owner started selling a bunch of his old stuff in bulk.
One of the really interesting cards I found that I like running is Tsabo's Web. It's a bit meta dependent for sure, but it works really well against a lot of the decks I play against. The only two lands you run that it keeps tapped are Strip Mine and Thespian's Stage, and it cantripping makes it really great with Glissa if you have a sac outlet (or if your table keeps trying to kill it because it taps their Academy Ruins et. al.)
EDIT: Also, have you experimented at all with Cloud Key or other cost reducers? I feel like making baubles cost 0 mana would be really useful both in the early game and if you get Recycle or another engine going.
Bringing back an older thread, but I am really interested in making an EGG deck with Glissa and with a new Artifact Block going on right now some new cards could fit the bill in this type of deck.
This is what my deck looks like now... lots of money and time has gone into this. Lots of new cards and reprints since last time I posted it. Crux of fate is there until one day they'll reprint Damnation.
I have 12 1 drops and about 6 baubles, I have about another 2 I'd want to use chromatic sphere/Urza's bauble, I am also considering Metalspinner's puzzleknot but the power of cards available to me is just so high now that it doesn't seem worth it.
As for Marionette Master she allows me to combo kill with nim deathmantle and it seems okay but I have sooo many 6 drops in my deck. perhaps I could be convinced to cut sheodred for it. I wish it was life drain like bloodartist then I'd probably put it in.
Hangarback walker is almost broken in this deck.
Meh on executioner its not an artifact. Hedron archive was in the deck for awhile but then I got my hands on Sylvan library and there is no comparsin there, I am also not actually ramping very much. in my version of the deck.
Burnished hart exists.
Obelisk is in instead of something like commander's sphere, with so many artifacts I actually don't need colours of mana that much.
etbs tapped, sacs for two not really what I am looking for I want to use my salvaging station as a back up glissa.
Yep, I think I'll just straight replace Junk diver. Flying is barely useful enough.
Aetherworks marvel is too hard to get running with no other energy generation, now it is a choice between boompile or Marionette master for the insta-win combo. leaning towards Master despite all my 6 drops. My deck is kind of a BG tokens deck at heart. I also want to put in Ironworks just for another sac outlet that works in the combo I am getting more cards that trigger off death all the time.
Hey all.
It's been way too long since I've re-visited Glissa (and even longer since I've put my reworks on this thread). I haven't been playing Glissa very much recently, as my Golgari staples have been wrapped up in Razz's Jarad deck which is more suited to the playgroup I'm with at the moment. That said, I have put Glissa back together a couple times since I last posted here, and in the very near future, I think I'll have a good opportunity to put my pet deck together again and get some real games in. For your consideration (and for my own reference when I finally put the pieces of paper in the same pile), here's what I would be running if I made the deck today:
I'm really interested in trying out Paradox Engine in the deck. Not sure if it requires more dorks, but I think the OP mana artifacts might be good enough, especially since a lot of the chaining spells will be 1-drop artifacts. I'd love to find room for a Birthing Pod chain but I want to be so heavy on artifacts that it's hard to justify. Artifact dudes + Survival will have to do. Green Sun's + Dryad Arbor would also be sweet but I don't know if I have enough green creatures to justify that, either.
I'm also wondering if this might be a Winter Orb/Tangle Wire deck. But that might be going too far in a new direction and maybe I'd just make a full-blown Stax deck at that point.
I think Commander's Sphere, Darksteel Plate, and the Fleshbag/Executioner seem kind of like bad cards, even though they have strong roles in the deck. We'll see how often the synergies just go nuts.
I also want to drop a land for something. I played 37 under the assumption that I'd be including 4 cycling lands for Loam, but settled on just the two. So I've got at least one slot to mess around with.
IRL I'm not going to get a Mishra's Bauble (stupid 45$ card), but I should get a Mox Opal soon so there's that.

Inventors' Fair
Marionette Master
Fortuitous Find
Foundry Inspector
Noxious Gearhulk
Filigree Familiar
Aetherworks Marvel

Also since this has not been updated in awhile some other cards that could be good
Hangarback Walker
Merciless Executioner
Commander's Sphere
Hedron Archive
Wild-Field Scarecrow
Unstable Obelisk
Terrarion

Hope to hear about an update on this deck to see how it changed!
Also, How many EGGs are too many??
I am still not 100% sure what to cut. Noxious Gearhulk is 100% in Verdurous Gearhulk is harder to decide if it is good enough.

I'm really interested in trying out Paradox Engine in the deck. Not sure if it requires more dorks, but I think the OP mana artifacts might be good enough, especially since a lot of the chaining spells will be 1-drop artifacts. I don't think Aetherflux Reservior is an achievable goal, since I plan to be paying life to a number of things, but who knows. For now, I'm on the Engine + Null Profusion/Recycle plan. There's a chance of whiffing, but I think mostly it'll just draw your deck and end up with an arbitrarily large Exsanguinate. That said, I'll have to play around with it.
If I feel like I'm having a hard time winning, Marionette Master is definitely on my radar. I think I'm on the 'slaver lock or paradox shenanigans plan first.
I also have my eyes on Grim Monolith, Sculpting Steel, Sword of Feast and Famine, Hedron Archive (I'd play it over Thran Dynamo, and I like Thran Dynamo), and Foundry Inspector.
