Heh, yea, he's pretty mean. Though from the colorless deck perspective I'd rather face him then the cards I face now like Stony Silence, Null rod, Shattering Spree, Vandalblast, Ruination, etc. At least I most likely get my stuff back. I think letting them borrow some of my artifacts for a turn is a fair trade for pumping out a kozilek. Besides, some of them don't even untap for them (Mana vault, Grim monolith, basalt monolith)
What i don't like about Treasure nabber is that people will take and grab my cards. Some people are filthy when they're playing, chips and chocolate etc.
What i don't like about Treasure nabber is that people will take and grab my cards. Some people are filthy when they're playing, chips and chocolate etc.
I run azor's gateway I really like it. I don't use it to try and flip it into a mega land, I use it to filter lands out of my hand after kozilek casts. Its saved me a few times when launching into the metalworker/staff of domination combo as you need 3 artifacts in hand.
Totally agree with the 'dirty players' comment. I carry 20 top loaders with me when I play and when another player steals a card I stick it in solid plastic and pass it over. Then say something like "I'd hate for something to happen to the card that might mean you have to buy me a new one" in a jokey way. Except I'm serious. Deadly serious.
My Kozi deck is 97% foil lol
Didn't really consider that aspect. There's a ton of control changing in my meta already so this guy was just one more in that regard. I double sleeve all my decks already so I'm not really bothered handing them over. Once someone did even spill a drink on a few and the double sleeves fully protected it so I generally feel pretty confident with my level of protection there.
Although I realize it is a bit of an unfair comparison. I have zero interest in foiling out my decks, I go for the cheapest versions of cards almost every time. Once in a while I'll "splurge" with a promo copy if its only like $1 more and I like how the promo looks. Or if the oracle text has changed so much between the old and new version that playing with the old copy is borderline impractical at this point and its worth an extra $1 or $2 to save people from doing lots of gatherer lookups during the game. But that's a rare exception. Not to say I don't get nervous about some (there is no such thing as a cheap copy of an original dual land for instance lol). But still, its clearly different since most of my cards are cheap. I just want to play the game, I don't care how my deck looks.
I've actually been debating whether to just sub out all my expensive cards with proxies to further reduce this risk. My group is super cheap so we let anyone play with proxies freely as long as they take the effort to actually print out the card (so its nice and readable) and sleeve it up with their deck so it looks like any other card from the back. Hand-written post-it proxies stuck to a token or playing card with just the name aren't really acceptable. But as long as we can play normally without looking stuff up all the time as if you really did have the card we don't care.
I personally try to make sure I acquire at least one copy of every card in all my decks so if I ever went to a store event or something I could make one or two of my decks legal. But that still means there's really no reason to carry around the real copies most of the time when we're playing around food/drinks, in bars/restaurants, or just risk my backpack being stolen in transit.

There's still comparison but i got stung once and it made me not trust other players I didn't know with touching my cards.
I had someone drop a sylvan primordial back when it was legal and he went around the table jamming his fingernail saying 'pop' to everything he was destroying. Made a very noticeable and permanent dent in my doubling season. I was fuming.
I've had too many theft players roll for damage on a mana crypt across my cards with heavy dice so now whenever a card gets taken, it goes in plastic solely because I don't want to have to have the 'you're paying for the damage to my card' talk with them.
I don't mind theft as a strategy, I think it's great but I just hate my cards being controlled by someone who's not got respect the cards they've taken.
It's a shame that the kind of ramp we play our cards are more appealing to steal than most others on the board!
I agree with Rasputin, but i've never employed the toploader strategy.
I have just like you almost an entirely foiled out deck. There's some people at my lgs that are just... loud and often comes with bad hygiene. Suddenly they break out the bag of chips and my eyes can't really believe it.
This dude took like, a foiled Metalworker or whatever and slammed it to the table and the like, even you know, taken a card and done a bunch of gestures with it and whatever.
i was fuming, like you said.
Or when i talk about a card that got spoiled and show it on my phone while i hold it so people can see, this one guy grabs my phone when i show it to get a clearer view.
I just clenched my fingers, he asked wtf i was doing and i just said: No! I don't want to let go.
Some people... you're friendly to them and they try and take your arm off.
And having a fully foiled deck full of inventions, expeditions and judge foils comes the need for your opponents to grab at your cards with greasy fingers.
If I could shuffle it I'd put my entire deck in toploaders! Lol
Fair enough. I added paradox engine recently and played combo for the first time the other day and it felt clunky. Seems like it might just have been me not knowing what I was doing.
Here's my deck, I know I'm missing some of the expensive stuff. I've only just added paradox engine/planar bridge since the group I started playing with are all hyper competitive and combo is what they all do. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
OK, so you're running th strong combos.
Rings + basalt
Metalworker + staff of domination
Spine + ironworks
Darksteel forge + nev's disk
Buried ruin + Crucible of worlds + mindslaver
And the synergies
Unwinding clock + Planar bridge/ring of three wishes
Among many others lol
I sit on Paradox engine in my hand until the timing is right,
You need low cost cards in hand, rocks on the field and maybe a sac outlet.
Tap everything, drop the engine, then drop a 0,1,or 2 mana card, tap out, cast small, tap out, cast kozilek.
90% of the time you can pull it off quite efficiently but if you've not got enough cards in hand you'll drop the engine and fall short.
I run a few more 0 and 1 drops for things like Paradox angine and krarks clan ironworks.
Also if you draw into erratic portal its game over.
Tbh it looks like you're running a pretty tight build but you just need to remember to hold something back to feed the Paradox engine. It's an amazing card for us but by no means infinite on its own. If you run out of steam if ends up dead on the board. If you play it too early you'll get hated out too fast
Well, for Ancient Stone Idol to be cheap, you nned to face something like an edgar markov or krenko, mob boss horde, and then, it doesn't do anything to help you agains that... Or I'm I wrong?

Nah, you're right. Our meta is usually ramp RUG wanderer or monoblue control (the more competitive meta)
But im gonna get it just in case
I run cloud key and I don’t run semblance anvil.
Whenever I play a semblance anvil it gets taken out which takes out two of my cards.
I’d rather run the key which has less impact than the anvil and it be a target.
I used to run foundry inspector but he’s a bit fragile being a creature as well, but ironically, works really well with semblance anvil.
I’m liking geode golem though so will have to test him for a while.
isolated watchtower is great if you’re running a wastes deck but as I only run 3 Wastes, that a 1 in 33 chance that its ability pans out for me
So, its finally updated... what do you guys think?
Yeah, im still running Kozilek, the Great Distortion as the general but i've always posted here. Sometimes i switch them out.

Yes i do. Batterskull is there for some lifegain and comboability. Sword is there for value and well, winter orb. Before i also had Static Orb, which made it even better.
I guess one can say that my list probably has some nonoptimised choices.
Rasputin101, I really liked your decklist. I play Kozilek, the Grest Distortion in a meta where infinites are verboten.
I am using ISBPathfinder's Kozilek, the Great Distortion list as a guide. I understand that his list and yours have major differences. He is playing a lot more spot removal cards and none of the combo enabling cards that you are. Still, I am comparing the lists to find cards that are good for both.
"My issue with it outside of infinite combos is that it costs kind of a lot to cast it and then you sort of need to have played a bunch of ramp before you played it and have some cheap plays to follow it up with. It seemed like the kind of card that to me honestly seems VERY hit or miss based on the situation you get it if not going for infinite plays. Every situation I could come up with myself that made it seem good seemed like I was cherry picking like... best case scenarios rather than how I actually expected it to work. Blinkmoth Urn for instance was a card that I very early on tested and assumed would work great but it was always super awkward and slow. The cost to play it and the speed of return was always awkward for me..."
My question is outside of combo has either Paradox Engine or Blinkmoth Urn justified the high cost and spot in the 99?
Have you any experience with Avarice Totem? Late game this card can be used to permanently switch an opponent's permanent with yours if you have 10 mana and they do not have five mana to respond to the switch.
Pathfinder is not playing Mirage Mirror. Have you found this card to be good? I am playing this card as a quasi replacement for Avarice Totem.
Have you tested Storm Cauldron? Winter Orb has been an all star for me in just the short time I have played the deck.
I'm in two minds.
Yes, that card is amazing BUT it won't be foiled so I'm completely torn!
I will most likely run it as its an easy peasy T2 drop

I removed cards like Myr Battlesphere, Myr Turbine, Conduit of Ruin, Staff of Nin, Ward of Bonesand Tormod's Crypt.
Added: Azor's Gateway , Memory Jar, Cloud Key, Strionic Resonator, Welding Jar, Karn, Silver Golem
The one card im really missing that i previously had is Mana Crypt.

I am using ISBPathfinder's Kozilek, the Great Distortion list as a guide. I understand that his list and yours have major differences. He is playing a lot more spot removal cards and none of the combo enabling cards that you are. Still, I am comparing the lists to find cards that are good for both.
Could this deck be competitive in a non combo/infinite environment? If so, what changes would you make? I can guess that Staff of Domination, Eratic Portal, and possibly Paradox Engine would be cuts. Rings of Brighthearth and Basalt Monolith are played in ISBPathfinder's list because they are both good on their own.
ISBPathfinder had this to say about Paradox Engine and Blinkmoth Urn:
