im wondering about people's experiences with the sanctum prelate? im thinking of setting her at 4 as another way of getting rid of most boardwipes and counterspells
I feel like there's just too broad an array of Wraths in EDH to rely on the Prelate outside of a blink deck like Brago. How do you feel about Recruiter of the Guard? Being able to fetch pretty much any creature in the deck seems like a good deal.
i have been considering it but with the price tag of $40+ at my nearby card stores i haven't really had the change to try it out. it is a great way to get silver bullets though outside of eladmri's call
i still play magic but i havent been playtesting much with sigarda lately. my group knows how scary she gets and always focus her now. ive been travelling to other stores in my area to test it out in an enviroment which doesnt see her as the must kill. as for other deck lists, i havent seen any other sigarda enchantress lists which tickle my fancy. I am working on my kaladesh discussion but since the set is artifact based, its not so much what can i put in as to more of what should this deck look for in the future.
I would not be so nit picky about certain aspects if I wasn't building a similar deck to this IRL, but there are quite a few things in this list that don't really make sense and I would appreciate if they were addressed.
- Academy Rector - The validity of this card in the deck has come into question quite a bit, so I won't give a long winded explanation as to why it's inclusion is in question.
- Aura Shards - The validity of this card in the deck has come into question quite a bit, so I won't give a long winded explanation as to why it's inclusion is in question.
- Flickerform - What does this card do for the deck other than dodge a black sun's zenith and some random "naturalize-style" effects? Sigarda's biggest concern is board wipes and this pretty much dodges a total of one of them that is commonly seen in EDH. As for enchantment destruction effects, flickerform will never dodge a krosan grip and will dodge an opposing aura shards once in most cases. This just comes off as mediocre in the face of (most likely) 3 other opponents. The card honestly feels way too niche and the slot seems better used by something like shielded by faith or any aura granting a "totem armor" effect.
- Mirari's Wake - In a deck in which the highest CMC is 6, this card just feels like you are asking to be blown out through overextending. I admit this card is great in conjunction with cards like ulamog, the infinite gyre or palinchron, but nothing like that is present in this deck. In this instance Mirari's Wake just comes off as a "win more card." With the addition of the rule that your commander can no longer be tucked, the likelihood of angels from sigil of the empty throne carrying the game is much lower. The main goal of the deck appears to be suiting up Sigarda (usually with shield of the oversoul followed by some other auras), get value off of some enchantress effects, and swing until you've dealt enough commander damage to win. In this context, Mirari's Wake is out of place.
As a point of note, this deck just feels like it wants more ways to stop opponents from interacting with Sigarda. Whether it be in the form of winter orb; hokori, dust drinker; rule of law; or any other lockdown effect, this deck's consistency would most likely go up if the game was slowed down after suiting up Sigarda. I get that privileged position is an enchantment and has synergy with the deck, but would it not be more efficient to just stop your opponents in their tracks instead of hoping you get the nuts with sterling grove? I'm not sure whether the originator of the deck does not enjoy this type of playstyle or hasn't gotten around to testing cards such as these, but I think they are at least worth a discussion.

Flickerform brings the creature back at the end of the turn, so it actually dodges literally every board wipe commonly seen in EDH. The only way to beat if is to stack another wipe on top of the effect at instant speed and even then if the Fickerform user has 4 mana open, they can just respond again. Yes, the form dies to Krosan Grip, but that's like saying Jace, the Mindsculpter is bad because he dies to Hero's Downfall.
Not really defending Mirari's Wake in this deck, but I do see value in it. The major value I see is that it allow you to keep casting you general reliably. Why is the likelihood of Sigil of the Empty Throne carrying the game much lower? Because your general can't get tucked anymore? Then with that logic you'll need mana to keep powering her out, but you just bashed the main two cards that let her keep a presence on the field outside of Shield of the Oversoul.
Once Sigarda gets established, I can see a rule of law coming down, or something like that (Eidolon of Rhetoric), but some of these cards are meta based.
That's what speed reading gets me, I did not see that Flickerform said until EOT. Thanks for the heads up!
If you are needing Mirari's Wake level of mana to cast Sigarda, then you are navigating the game poorly. You should never need that much mana to recast Sigarda. Your top priority should always be maintaining her and smartly casting her when she is not likely to get countered. Obviously you can't play the "perfect game" every time, but Sigarda is one of the more difficult creatures to remove in the game so its tough to even make an argument that someone is even going to keep needing to "power her out" to begin with.
Eidolon and Rule do not even come close to a meta-based effect, saying everyone can only cast one spell per turn while you have an established board is a universally good effect unless of course your meta does not cast spells.

In addition to dodging wraths, Flickerform can also be used in conjunction with Eidolon of Blossoms to draw an additional card(s) per turn. Just keep four mana up and activate it just prior to an opponent's end step.
I'm kind of confused why there are no cards that give vigilance in this list. I get that there are cards that limit the number of attackers, but oftentimes it just doesn't feel like enough (granted I'm not running moat). Would it not be nice to allow Sigarda to be able to block creatures and act as a deterrent, herself? You cannot expect to play against 3 other players who are just going to do nothing. I get that finding a decent enchantment that grants vigilance is difficult to come by (you pretty much have heliod, god of the sun, daybreak coronet, and vow of duty), but I would at least appreciate an explanation. Lastly, why do people keep claiming that daybreak coronet is a "win more" card? I'm struggling to find a time when I would hate to put an additional enchantment on Sigarda that grants all those abilities for that low of a mana cost, especially early on in that game.
I think you answered your question already about vigilance - there's no good aura that grants it. At the end of the day, Sigarda is only one creature, so even if she does get to sit back and block, in the best case scenario she's only dropping one creature per attack. OP's list runs Moat, Silent Arbiter, and Dueling Grounds, all of which do a better job of staving off attacks than Vow of Duty or Heliod.
As for Daybreak Coronet, there's only 13 auras in OP's list, and two of them go on lands. I'd rather have a card I can cast whenever I want then one that makes a good situation (i.e., Sigarda with an aura on her) even better.
I 100% agree. I made a few changes to the list that gave me a some extra spots, so I was looking for decent cards. I guess coronet was not the answer.
Also, am I missing something as to why flickering ward isn't in this deck? I saw it mentioned a few times. Is a single card that gives protection from any color as well as has the potential to draw and make angels for one mana not good enough?
ive been retuning the deck recently. when i have time im going to re-up the new neck list as it has gone through some big changes. the deck focuses more on sigarda now and has dropped off many of the other win conditions. for most boardwipes, its not really a problem as you can swing it back in your favor with something like a replenish, however mass exiles are the bane of all decks, and outside of an auratog, you are plain out of luck if someone evicts you (had that happen to me last night, was not a fun situation)

I'd be really interested to see some of the changes you've made. Sigarda has been sitting in a folder for a long time, finally decided to build around her and I love the enchantress theme. Some of the higher cost cards here I'll definitely struggle to fill (replenish, Serra's Sanctum etc) but I'm gonna see how it goes anyway. At the least it should be an interesting project.

I am also interested in your thoughts on some of the new cards. I have a more agro version of this deck, that runs less control then your list suggests too.
Hi, I'm Sunny's friend. Unfortunately he lost his log in info for the account and couldn't remember the email password which it was tied to. He said the thread should have been retired a while back as the mods had been msging him about it. However the deck has stayed almost the same with the addition of sigarda's aid and the satyr enchanter from m19. The c18 release actually had no impact on the deck whatsoever as none of the g or w cards in the deck were really that usable and if they were, they were in the deck already. I'll ask him for a copy of the decklist if you would still be interested in a quick look at what he has now, otherwise its probably better just to let this thread die.

Note: this only works with Eidolon of Blossoms as it specifies when an enchantment enters the battlefield, but not with cards like Argothian Enchantress or Kor Spiritdancer as these specify when the enchantment is "cast".
Still, it's small utility which sometimes goes overlooked. ETB The Gathering: Enchantment Style.
