Yes, it is indeed. I'm not running Timetwister since I don't have even close to enough money to buy one. Also it causes you to shuffle your graveyard and hand into your library, so it's not nearly as useful for filling graveyards as Windfall.

I actually don't want their graveyard filled as it's possible things could be reused in theirs. Also, windfall could potentially net 0 cards. (Although unlikely).
Just thought I'd ask, any updates to the budget list you'd suggest with the release of some of the newer sets? Also, expanding on the Budget list, what would you say are some good cards to add that would improve the budget list massively, and what would you remove first? (Lets say I wanted to add, I dunno, $40-50 to the budget list)
Really like your list, but totally new to Mimeoplasm builds
I'm also curious to we if there have been any recent updates. I'm looking into a new deck for my meta (it's pretty competitive, not Azami competitive but pretty cutthroat). Gotta admit, I'd be a little worried playing a deck so graveyard focused. If your opponents just keep the graves cleared aren't you sucking?
Hey guys, sorry that I haven't been posting any updates or changes to this deck. The biggest reason is that I simply haven't gotten to play much EDH lately. The other is that with the few times I have gotten to play, I haven't been playing this deck. My playgroup has gotten quite tired of playing against it, and I think it was just a little too good for most of our games. With the banning of Sylvan Primordial, I will have to rethink the decklist a bit, since a card like Flash was mainly intended to play a turn 2 Sylvan and let me ramp way ahead of everyone else. Losing him leaves me with too few great targets, since it doesn't work with the Praetors, and just playing an Acidic Slime or something isn't that good.

Like I said above, I haven't really been making many changes the last couple sets to either the main list or the budget list. The budget list could definitely use a Prophet of Kruphix thought. As for a few more expensive cards you could add, the best ones in my opinion are Intuition, Survival of the Fittest, and Entomb.
I'm sorry, I don't have strength to go through all pages in this post.
But these cards I will recommend for consideration: Lotus cobra - Make really nice mana ramp with fetches and/or additional land drop Forbid - It's buyback is one of most useful discard I know. Counter, discard fatties and (get back a counter - so you have lost only one card). Pupeteer's Clique - This can be really huge threat to your opponents. It can run ETB effects, remove from their grave and get you fattie with haste. Melira, Sylvok Outcast - When you are playing Glen Elendra Archmage and Pupeteer's clique (with sac engine as high market) it's pretty worth playing Bloodghast + Skullclamp - When you play Burried Alive and have Skullclamp, you can dump Bloodghast and each turn you can hit him with Skullclamp (with fetches even more times a turn) Mystic Remora - This can be pretty cheap draw and total draw in multiplayer.
Consider Out: Sylvan Primordial - It has been banned on official Commander
On your list of cards to add, I see a lot of value engines and such, which is the kind of thing I cut a lot of when I moved towards the more reanimator focused build. I don't have time to go through and talk about them card by card right now, but I will come back and edit this post with more detail later. As for Sylvan, I know he has been banned, I just haven't updated my list since the banning.

The deck is definitely weaker when there is a lot of graveyard hate around, but it's not too hard to play around, and we also have cards like Voidslime and Krosan Grip that can answer just about any form of graveyard hate they throw at us. However, if you are very worried about grave hate, you could play it as more of an ETB value engine deck. Mine used to play more that way, so if you look through the change log you may be able to get some additional ideas.
What is your strategy when there are 1-2 other reanimation decks in the game? Do you find that people get to reanimate bombs from your GY?
Been a while since I last posted on here. Haven't been able to play much EDH myself as I'm a new daddy and started a new job a few months ago that has different hours than many of my friends.
It has been a favourite combo of mine for some time as a backup to a big skittles but I recommend adding Lord of Extinction, Nether Traitor and/or Invisible Stalker. It isn't nearly as cut throat as a turn 2 flashed Sylvan Primordial. They don't really offer any good value to an opponent's reanimate deck either. The number of times I have killed a player with a Nether Traitor/EoT Invisible Stalker + Lord of Extinction is too hard to count. It does rely on a low amount of graveyard hate to an extent but it isn't hard to Intuition or Buried Alive it and still be able to get it into play before any hate comes.
Well Lord of Extinction will pair rather nicely with Sage of Hours. Going to enjoy this addition
Yeah that was the first interaction I thought of when I saw Sage. Unfortunately I haven't really thought about this deck for like 4 months. I should probably retire it from primer status, which makes me a little bit sad, but I don't even have the deck put together anymore.
That is a shame but you must do what pleases you. I just post on this primer as the other primer has basically no relevance to my build as it is admittedly just BUG reanimator where the author states that he rarely casts his commander.
Just figured I would share the deliciousness that sage will add to my build
This thread has now been officially retired from Primer status. There hasn't really been any discussion here in months, and I no longer play this deck at all. I also haven't updated the list for the last few sets, and it's getting more out of date all the time.
So I went through and made some updates to the decklist. There were so many changes I wanted to make that I ended up at 103 cards, so if anyone has any suggestions for what to take out, I'd love to hear them. I'm not sure that I'm going to put this list completely back together, but seeing the new Sultai Charm and Clever Impersonator out of Khans got me excited, so I figured I would at least update the deck.
I'd cut Notion Thief, he was underwhelming for me unless I had timetwister.
Sounds crazy but levithan has been good enough with enchantments that I cut Cyclonic rift
Also, do you need 3 clones? I'm thinking of removing mine and just having the clever impersonator instead

Hey guys so I've actually moved on from commander on to 60 card decks so I don't have any commander decks.
Anyway I've started my own gameplay channel in which I play games (Magic also)
And cool to see the deck turning more towards reanimator, I agree. I also took out most of the ETB plan from my deck, as most of the time it felt like a underpowered bant deck, which is a stronger color combination for that gameplan.
You could also cut Venser, as generally you won't need all the utility he gives and for the specific targets you may need him there are usually more mana efficient options.
I'd also run more counters. My plasm deck got much more consistent and powerful when I went to 8-10 counters.
I'd cut Pact of negation, never know when your mana base could explode.
Without fetches I wouldn't run Deathrite shaman, just not worth it, maybe try out Bloom tender. I do love that card
Under looked cards like Preordain and Ponder are great in this deck for filtering through and you have enough tutors to make them work, maybe even brainstorm
Lastly, the cycle lands Lonely sandbar,Barren moor, and Tranquil thicket are great ways to draw through to an answer and get extremely better with Life from the loam

I have definitely upped my counters from where they were, but I guess I could add a few more. I'm running 7 right now if you include Venser, Shaper Savant and Glen Elendra Archmage. I still like Pact of Negation, but it's only really used for emergencies. I'd love to replace it with Force of Will, but it's not exactly the easiest card to get ahold of.
I'm not sure what exactly you are looking at when you say "without fetches". I'm running 8 fetches and I'll be adding the 9th one when I get it, so I think Deathrite Shaman should be fine. I'm not a huge fan of Bloom Tender in a deck like this because we don't really keep that many permanents on the field, and almost all the ones we do are monocolored.
Brainstorm is already in, I was thinking about using Ponder as well, but I figured I'd be better off with more looting spells instead.
The cycling lands are indeed awesome with Life from the Loam, but I feel like they are a bit slow because they come into play tapped. Even if you are using them as a draw engine, it's a little too slow for my liking in a deck that wants to come out as explosively as this one.
I need to make a few cuts before I can really add anything since I'm at 103 cards right now. kvothe suggested cutting Venser which I may do since he's a little more expensive than I usually like, and he doesn't really work well with reanimate effects.

Fair enough. Still think they're better than the basics anyway

As far as looting effects, I'm mostly talking about the ones that are already in here like Forbidden Alchemy, Frantic Search, Thirst for Knowledge, and Careful Study. I don't really have room to add any more since the deck is already at 103 cards, and I actually need to cut a few things.
The cycling lands also worry me a little because I don't want my basic land count to go too low. I'm running 7 basics right now and that will go down to 6 when I get a Flooded Strand. Since I currently only have one Dual, that leaves me with 10 fetchable lands and 9 fetches, which means I can get into a situation where I have no more lands to search up, which is very awkward if I don't have Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth in play.
Do you have any suggestions for cuts? I really want to get the list down to 100 cards so I can start testing it again.
Yes, it is indeed. I'm not running Timetwister since I don't have even close to enough money to buy one. Also it causes you to shuffle your graveyard and hand into your library, so it's not nearly as useful for filling graveyards as Windfall.

Also, what are your initial thoughts on what could replace sylvan primordial + flash?
