He was already a powerhouse for us with that -X and now we can add in a little bit of recursion just for him at basically zero cost to us (since the land still taps for colorless). Also makes Steel Hellkite a bit more valuable I suppose but I'm still not a big fan of that card.
I'm hoping to see a few more colorless dragons before I go deciding what to do with this. I'm hoping that the Name & number crunch allows for a mythic colorless dragon legend - hopefully with useful abilities.
EDIT: Or - y'know - with like, no abilities at all. Whatever, it's cool...
Besides the addition of the new Haven of the Spirit Dragon, there's not much to be added to the deck.
Sure, I've monkeyed around with it's configuration over the past few months, but it remains predominantly the same.
I don't think we'll be seeing any new things for the deck until Magic Origins later in the summer - and I've got a sneaking suspicion about Commander 2015 this year.
hello all i am planing on building this deck and i am just wondering were to start if i don't have an insane budget. like i have 200 max to spend on cards i could proxy the really expensive stuff but does this deck cost a ton?

Short answer: No, It doesn't cost a ton. None of the high-price top-end expensive stuff come up frequently enough to be vital to the deck. Most of the landbase can be surprisingly cheap. The big-mana artifacts are all pretty cheap - I'd leave grim monolith out of this.
I'd focus the available budget first on cards that are vital to the deck (voltaic construct) and then those that are EDH staples that you can use in all your other decks (Mana Vault, Rings of Brighthearth, Scroll Rack). So much of this deck can be adjusted to taste that there's no hard-set rules on what has to be in here. I find that mana rocks, untappers, mana reducers and good utility seems to go a long way, though.
I'd start with the mana rocks and the utility artifacts first - most of the lands are usually tapped every turn for mana, so they're easily replaced with the cheapest colorless lands possible with no noticeable loss to the decks ability - panoramas and others like that.
Finally got my hands on a Mishra's Workshop and dear god does the deck get dumb when you throw one of those in.
After many months of playing this now, the deck has been amazing. I honestly think the best card in the whole deck is Shimmer Myr: I can't tell you how hilarious it is when I flash in the Myr in response to a Deceiver Exarch at the end of someone else's turn only to instant speed slam down a Mindslaver to stop them from combo'ing-off on their own turn. Or when I instant speed flash in Blightsteel Colossus into an attacking Commander. Or simply instant speed combo'ing-off on someone else's turn when the blue player finally taps out. It has provided some of the most entertaining and interesting exchanges I've had with the deck and all my friends hate the little thing, it's perfect.

My EDH/Commander Decks: x Kozilek, The Butcher of Truth WUBRG Sliver Overlord UR Mizzix of the Izmagus
My Legacy Decks: WUBRG/x Dredge UBR Storm
My Modern Decks: BRG Smallpox WUBRG Slivers WUBRG/x Lantern Control
I'm definitely going to agree 100% on the shimmer myr - It's consistently amazing and one of the few ways for us to interact at instant speed. I really wish Veldalken Orrery had flash also.
Here's hoping they print us a few more flash-enablers with flash.
It's been quite some time since i posted in this thread
I've been playing around with Kozilek, Butcher of Truth for quite a while, and i must say he's so fun!
Since my group would hate playing against a stax deck and my deck usually ended up as a bad aggro deck with combos.
But i've kinda changed my view on things, Kozilek can make ppl scoop after the first attack. Sure i can understand that and often times i have to spread the love so nobody won't get locked out of the game.
It could be fun with a sideboard!
Im eventually getting together a sideboard as well with 10 cards. Gonna have all the nasty lockdown pieces and Blightsteel Colossus.
Im planning on switching for Karn soon to try him out again.
I haven't managed to get a hold of a foiled Haven of the Spirit Dragon! They're kinda difficult to get a hold of in foil in sweden, i think i have to order it from Europe...
And i agree with you guys, i never cut Shimmer Myr, it's too good! Especially with Blinkmoth Urn.
Ring of Ma'Ruf was in my original build of Karn far before I ever built this primer. We don't use the optional sideboard rules in any group I play in and I don't see that changing any time soon.
I've got a haven of the spirit dragon - but I still need to get my Ugin from my old pal next time I'm down his way.
Out of a stable of Marath combo, Derevi Enchantress, Melek Wheels, Optimized Krenko and a few others, it's pretty much become one of my most easy-to-hate out of a game of decks - which for me is fine, since I usually win with the same combo pieces when I play it and it is successful.
if i wanted to be able to interchange with kozelik would i have to change the deck list at all but i think i will main karn still
What are the chances that they will print barry's land in the upcoming set return to zendikar. or what ever the set is called
How's the deckbuilding progressing?:D
When i switched out Karn for Kozilek i basicly took out the Karn pieces:
1x Voltaic Construct (this feels like the nr 1 Karn piece)
1x Tawnos's Coffin (im thinking of putting it back in)
1x Scarecrone (felt too slow and it can't reanimate kozilek)
1x Nevinyrrals Disk (Still deciding about this card)
1x Mycosynth Lattice (self explainable, sure it kinda combos with some cards)
1x Liquimetal Coating (^)
1x Lodestone Golem (I love this thing but it sucked in my meta, many players plays alot of artifacts, barerly slowed them down and it slowed down me from casting kozilek)
1x Howling Mine ( don't know about this one)
I replaced them with these pieces i had laying around.
1 Everflowing chalice (amazing manasink)
1 Nemesis mask (Won me a couple of games, difficult decisions were made :D)
1 Mind stone (amazing, can cantrip later on)
1 Swiftfoot boots (Kozilek needs the protection)
1 Ur golem's Eye (not bad at all)
1 Unstable Obelisk (amazing card, too bad we can't foil it)
1 Strionic Resonator (AMAZING with kozilek, must have! I drew 8 + cards some times i cast him, you could even untap the thing to draw even more cards! And it combos with Annihilator)
1 Walking atlas (This made some turns quite busted and it's not that bad to drop turn 1-2 or even later in the game. Amazing when you're about to abuse Memory Jar)
I also added Palladium Myr, a second Worn Powerstone is not bad. Don't know what i cut for it tho.
These are just the things i had laying around at home and the deck works quite nicely
So add manarocks, mana is power. That mana will give you a 10 mana 12/12 monstrosity with Annihilator 4.
Im my last game kozilek got cast about 5 times lol, ppl were just focusing on him instead of trying to win the game and i don't blame them.
2 Hits and you're almost out of the game!
I feel like the switch has been a good experience for me, soemtimes as Karn i felt like my stuff got blown up even if i never was a threat, NOW i give them kind of a clear reason to do it.
Sure you get targeted but you gotta count with that.
Honestly i have not built anything yet i keep changing my mind on what general to make. I just wish some general would slap me in the face and say make me but i have still been unable to pick the General for me. I Just want a deck that i can play forever and have fun without worrying about being to powerful or underpowered. This feeling is so weird I Have legitly been trying to pick out a commander now for 5 months
Commanders I have though about making. ( Momir, Animar, Tasigaer, Karn, Sydri, Sharuum, Halfdane, Merike, godo, Krenko, Toriwuzio or however you spell it, Norin, Edric, Karador, Nin, Xiao, Melek, Saffi, and Hanna probably more those are just the ones i started to build then take apart.) Do i have problems or do other people have this issue i really just want to play fun games with my friends and not kill them or die instantly. Every commander i find has good ability and such then i see there huge weaknesses and it scares me away from them.
What do i Do? I can't have too many infinite combos in it and can't be group hug those are my requirements.

I built Marath a few months ago and I'd strongly recommend it to you - especially if you have the cards for it. It's very flexible depending on the situation in the game. Airinthe has a great primer together for it and the various directions you can build for it.
You can make it aggro, combo, tokens, control or any combination thereof.
I was the same, i didn't know which deck to play so i've built more that 25 decks by now.
The decks i keep around are:
Ruhan of the Fomori Italian Tribal Giants! Dakkon Blackblade oldborder only enchantress /since i like old cards Nekusar, The Mindrazer / this deck punishes tutors and azami decks does not like it. Also helps nondrawing colors get cards, can bring it our with beginners, sets a timer + gives them resources. Mikaeus, The Unhallowed / Newborder only goodstuff budget deck
Karnzilek (dunno which ones i want to play atm xD) Main deck Azami, Lady of Scrolls / when i want to be an ********
I usually find something i like about the general or the style of deck i want to build.
For example, my next deck is gonna be a Rakdos, the Defiler deck since i feel that cards now days are just TOO SAFE!
And yes, i've gone through quite alot of decks to find these that im keeping atm.
Just think like, what do you like? That's the simplest one
Style
Colors
General
What's the decks plan?
Just because you pick Sedris, the Traitor King it doesen't have to do gravestuff, its nice tho if the general can function well with the rest of the deck.
I found Karn after i went through Animar, Sedris, Riku and some other ones and it just hit me.
"I've tried playing artifacts ever since i started MTG, why shouldn't i play with Karn? He seems like he's made for me!"
Then i read up a bit about him and i really like him!
Then i read up on him on the EDH forums since some said he wasn't legal, how difficult it would be to play colorless etc. Quite the challenge!
I played Karn Liberated in standard, later i played tron in modern, then i played/gonna play MUD Stompy in legacy and if i would play vintage it would be Workshop.
Robots are my thang :D!
And i've had my Karnzilek deck for a couple of years now, never gonna disassemle it
Like i said, make a list with what you like etc. There are so many cards to choose from!
Maybe start with a versatile general?
EDIT!: MAYBEEEEE, looks at the older legends? Seems like you've mostly looked at the newer/really popular ones.
My Colors are: *Blue* Black White
Playstyle: anything that has a strong late game win via 3 or more card combo's or one big finisher
General: Must have a fun ability. I like underrated generals a lot but don't play them do to their lack in consistency.
Decks plan: I don't want to be a target in the beginning Ex: Norin, Momir, Azami, Zur, Rofellos. Control the game have a few creates out for protection and win with some hard to pull off combo or giant finisher.
what are your ideas on Tetsuo Umezawa as a control good stuff general
or so deck that just makes that games fun for everyone but still can win
Or Tasiger or what ever
So I want to pick one of those but don't know what one yet or maybe even play zedruu because it seems fun.

Tetsuo seems cool but he's quite expensive atm because of tiny leaders.
Maybe pick a general like Sen Triplets, has all of your colors you like + it can take cards from your opponents.
Good control general, you can easily assemble combos with the colors.

I had Myr Welder in for a few months when it came out. It's good, for sure.
But one of the tenets that I've tried to build by is trying to make each card useful on it's own. I get blown out so often, I've found getting blown out and trying to rebuild and drawing something like this to be supremely frustrating - so I wound up pulling it out.
So what does everyone think about the new storage land we're getting ? Speaking of land Mark Rosewater stated a solution to colorless basics has been found, so we'll probbly be getting them soon in BFZ or the 2015 commander decks (either a karn deck or a domain list that wants to domain for 6 as was the original intention of colorless basics). Which lands will you cut for basics. We'll lose some utility but gain a better ability to withstand non basic hosers and be able to tutor for basic.
