I think being tutored from Artificier's Intuition makes up for a lot of the cards it doesn't work with since they already have so many other targets while AI benefits from additional targets. An x amount of chump blockers that fuel artifact density seems great. I can only imagine that some games a colorless vanilla beater isn't half bad either.
With a high enough amount of mana and a sac outlet, it goes infinite with Time Sieve and Academy Ruins. I don't necessarily think it's worth its weight, but that interaction does exist. Speaking of which, has anyone tested with Day's Undoing?
I recently sold off my collection to finance some improvements for my Sharuum list. I'll post an updated list later today.
Hangerback just seems like it would be too much work to make it fit, It looks good in an Arcum list though.
I've enjoyed HangarBack a great deal in my Glissa deck, but it recurs and extracts value in a very different way than Sharuum. Baleful Strix is probably my weakest creature slot, and I'd never pull it for Hangarback. I'd get Glassdust Hulk or Sharding Sphinx first. That being said I'm open to listening to an argument for walker's favor, but I foree it being a hard sell.
Codex Shredder has become a staple of my list. Ugin is on the chopping block, but I'm unsure what to replace him with. Perhaps Vedalken Orrery? How have you liked Clock of Omens?
Hangarback Walker has its pros and cons. To start with it's cons:
Poor blink target
Poor reanimation target
Pros:
Great artifact for sacrifice effects
Immunity to sweepers
Scales in size with the game
Can fire off single extra turn with Sieve
Insane with all modes of 4 mana tez.
Can be fetched with Artificer's intuition
Interesting effects:
Tawnos's coffin works favorably with this cards (keeps track of the counters)
Great card to grow under ensnaring bridge
Another infi turn combo with Sieve and mana
Can't be cloned
Effects can double counters in my list
With Academy Ruins, Hangarback Walker, Time Sieve, a sac outlet, and enough mana you can cast Hangarback at x=5, sac it, sac five tokens to take another turn, then recur Walker with Ruins to take another turn. If you can cast Walker at x=6, that's infinite creatures and so infinite turns without having to recur the Walker once you've generated enough tokens.
I don't necessarily think it's worth a slot, but it is certainly interesting.
I think I am more likely to try Clock of Omens instead, as I have an empty slot since I have no Twister.
Likewise. It seems that Hagarback is an inferior Thopter Assembly to me; for our purposes anyways.
In other news the spoiled card Shrine of the Forsaken Gods looks to be a solid addition. Maybe not Workshop #2, but it's as close as we will ever get with a modern card.
Everyone else is writing off the land as a win-more, but as we have a very grindy gameplan, it actually makes sense to have one more mana after we've established an engine or two in the lategame. I know I've been just one mana short of a Coffin activation lategame more than once.
What colorless land should it replace? I don't see any of my lands as easily replacable other than my Tec Edge (though the Wastelands y'all are running instead are probably much, much better).

I'm not sure Hangerback Walker deserves a slot either. However, it does things for the deck on a completely different axis, as do cards like Mindslaver, Crucible of Worlds, and Ensnaring Bridge and for that, I think it warrants consideration, even if not now, possibly in the future. Even metalworker was a card that had a slot, and the deck's evolution has changed that.

Now that the tuck rule has been blown to *****, I can see this replacing another land. For those running both petrified field and buried ruin, you can cut PF. ZIf that land spoiled is released as printed, I'm cutting phyrexia's core for it, as I already cut PF for Mana confluence. Core has done its job once in the last 150 games.

If the speculated 4 mana Oblivion Ring artifact that exiles creatures with power 4 or more is correct, it'll be a a nice asset to the deck. It's Ensnaring Bridge number 2, also combos with Sharuum and KCI for infinite mana and death triggers. Hopefully the leak is real.

if it exiles.... it does not create death triggers, nor can it be returned with Sharuum's ability, but it sounds nice for my Derevi deck.

Cast it, exiling Sharuum, sac it to KCI, net 2 mana and a death trigger, Sharuum ETBs, return it to battlefield, rinse and repeat. So death triggers as far as Bitter Ordeal and Altar of the Brood is concerned. Apologies, I should have phrased it better, but I wasn't sure what other term to use aside from 'death trigger'.
Ah, somehow I was thinking Oblivion Stone that exiles, not Oblivion Ring, and not having seen the card I was going from your description, but yeah that makes more sense, but we have to include KCI, I have been trying to avoid that because it does so little most of the time.
Sorry, I don't comprehend this interaction - is this rumored 4 mana artifact a sweeper, or a targeted actual Oblivion Ring effect? The former seems like an awful lot to give a 4 mana colorless spell.
I believe it was said to exile all creatures with power 4 or greater, but I could be wrong. If it's targeted, then it is indeed a combo possibility; if not, it's far too dangerous.
Storyline talking, that artifact make sense: a Hedron emprisonning big Eldrazi, and releasing them if it's destroyed.
If it exiles all creatures as a ETB then could you created a chain of ETB effects with it and Karn?
Basically, turn it into a creature before it's effect resolves, thus exiling itself and then putting everything back into play?
If it happens to be legendary then you could do something similar with Sharuum in play and a clone effect. Sculpting Steel the prison, legendary rule kills it and creates a flicker. Sharum's ETB brings it back.
Still, I think that we can do a lot with this artifact and that it could become an engine and protection rock depending on current needs. I think this might be the best new release for this deck since Trading Post.
Hi Jostin, sorry there isn't an English name yet, but here is the card image and its translated text:
"Leyline of Hedrons"
4
Artifact
When Leyline of Hedrons enters the battlefield, exile all creatures with power 5 or greater as long as Leyline of Hedrons remains on the battlefield.
It exiles our beaters but also Sharuum. I think it can be tricky with a sac outlet.
It does nothing to our army of Thopters.
It should not be considered as a wrath affect, but more a fragile O-Ring (beaters with >5 pow are not common on the battlefield)
OR a combo enabler cheap artifact.

Not with Sharuum, but I do run it in my Angus Superfriends deck. It serves well enough, but it runs options to cast at instant speed.
