Ajacobik has a very solid decklist that you should be able to get started on. It has more counters and board wipes than some other lists so it's probably safer to play in multiplayer as a beginner. Plus I believe he's said many of his wins came from negotiating so you can get familiar with multiplayer politics too.
I should of worded that differently... but I do play multiplayer a good amount... but I have never really been into it or built my own deck, i would just use my friends lists. I am a more competitive player in Legacy, Vintage and French EDH. But I wana build a very competitive combo version of Sharuum. Ajacobix, your list looks awesome but like you said, more of a control shell... is there a good more heavy combo list? Or what is the best way to build Sharuum in multiplayer? Is it combo or control? Thanks!
So if you come from a vintage /legacy background, Jostin has a list that is very competetive and full of the interactions you're looking for. There's a decklist somewhere in the first third of the thread - I think it might be page 6 or 7.
Jostin123, can you explain how this work? You posted:
"3) To generate infinite mana using Salvaging Station an artifact clone, copying Salvaging Station, and Karn, Silver Golem's activated ability".
Why do you need the an artifact clone copying Salvaging Station? You sacrifice LED generating three mana. You use one to animate with Karn. LED goes to the graveyard where it is returned to play with Salvaging Station. You have two mana floating and again start the cycle.
I've been a little out of the loop with EDH, and am coming back to playing Sharuum. Has there been any new additions in the past few months that I may have missed?
Also, I saw some discussion on running mana eggs instead of rocks, what eggs do you swap for rocks? Do you feel that you miss out on some ramp?
You're correct about needing only a single Station, Karn and LED. Let me clarify the order of activated abilities though.
1. Sacrifice LED/Lotus Bloom. Float 3 mana
2. Tap Salvaging Station, bringing it back.
3. Activate Karn's ability. LED/Lotus Bloom dies as a state based effect. Salvaging Station untaps. 2 mana floating.
4. Tap Salvaging Station to bring it back. 2 mana floating. Rinse and repeat.
Not that we really need infinite mana to win games, but in some cases it can be useful, like dumping it into Thopter Foundry/Sword of the Meek.
Great thread. Been building jostin123's list but of course am couple power cards short.
Wondering if you'd be kind enuff to share your opinion on the inclusion of Treasure Cruise. If so, what would you cut?
I know the delve is counter-productive to the graveyard recursion but ancestral recall effect is raw draw power.
Have you done any testing with Altar of the Brood?
I also want to fit in the Leyline of the Void / Helm of Obedience combo , swapping out (Timetwister / Bazaar) cards I don't currently own. But one day
I copied his list except for the following
Intuition - Gifts Ungiven
Wasteland - DustBowl (Also have Tectonic Edge, Encroaching Wastes, Ghost Quarter)
Grim Monolith - Basalt Monolith
Timetwister - Leyline of the Void
Bazaar - Helm of Obedience
Entomb - Altar of the Brood
Ancient Tomb - Mana Confluence
Constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This is wrong.
The end result of step four is a tapped Salvaging Station. If you sac LED for mana, you will not get to untap Salvaging Station to bring it back after what you have above. If you try to keep animating it with Karn, it will die before you get a chance to get mana from it, and you will have one less floating. The ways to get around this are Mana Crypt (infinite colorless and triggers), Mox Opal/artifact lands(infinte triggers), or 1 cmc trinkets+KCI (which I still strongly advocate). Alternatively, you have a second Salvaging Station, which will let you bring it back twice per loop, which is what you need for the combo to function short of any other pieces.
KCI is extremely good with Salvaging Station and Karn, by the way. Like I said above, it lets Karn+Station go infinite with nearly everything, it lets ThopterSword get you infinite mana, if you have any trinket then Thopter Foundry+KCI+Station goes infinite, it makes Spine of Ish-Sah+Sculpting Steel into (1): Destroy Target Permanent, it protects close to 70% of my deck from targeted exile while giving me absurd amounts of mana, and its generally all around insane.. I think those of you playing a list similar to jostin's should test it out. Even with concerns about Mindslaver blowouts, the card is so extremely good that I can't imagine playing an artifact deck without it ever again.
I'm gonna keep pushing this, because good card is good. The arguments against it don't compare to the work its done for me over the past seven or so months.
@Indybear: I've personally found brood to be a nice, easily tutorable, second copy of Extractor Demon. The card is rather solid, and I definitely am in support of it.
The steps that Axelsior posted works for infinite mana with Lotus bloom, but I don't think it does with LED. Only thing is that you'd have to tap Lotus Bloom for mana before animating.
Avvina, do you have a link to your list as well?
I don't run KCI, but your arguments for it sound fun. Mindslaver isn't really a thing in my meta, so I'm not overly concerned.
Oh, I overlooked that fact completely. My mistake. Of course you're right Avvina, definitely need the presence of a second Station for it to work. If it doesn't work with a single Station for Led, it won't work for Lotus Bloom either. Like you said it will work with artifact lands and Mana Crypt, but mainly just to combo off using Altar or Bitter Ordeal.
My fiancé just gave birth to my first little one, a beautiful little baby girl. I'll be away for a few days helping out to get little Marai on a feeding schedule that lets us sleep for at least 3 hrs. I'll check in again once things calm down and she's used to the house. She's got 3 step-sisters that are itching to spend time with her.

Additional Changes when testing is complete:

Jostin has already gone into far more detail on certain cards than I can. Commander's Sphere interest me in that it cantrips, and that's about it. I've been looking for an excuse to get rid of Darksteel Ingot for a while-it appears it has finally arrived. As for unstable Obelisk, I feel confident in the list's capacity to deal with problems already, so I won't be testing it unless I happen to get one in trade.
As an additional update, I tested Metalworker-I'm not sure how the performance has been for everyone else, but I found him sadly lacking. He was almost immeadiately killed without fail, and rarely produced enough mana to matter. I know this is probably contradictory to what the rest of you have experienced, but it appears as though my meta is starting to shift in the wake of green's rising popularity.
I know this list hasn't changed drastically since the last time I posted, but when a list is this tight, I don't take changes lightly. LED is the only card I've yet to obtain that I feel undoubtedly will add power to the list.

Of note is that I play 33 lands, which is rather low, don't currently own ABU duals, and have a serious problem; I traded my Consecrated Sphinx for a Mox Opal (seriously awesome deals yo). That goes in over nearly every card in the deck. Why the dreaded sphinx? Because its dumb, I win 8/10 games I resolve it in even against opponents with ample spot removal, and it justifies playing an extra reanimation spell to help against reanimator decks. Whenever I get a replacement, I put back in Titan, C-Sphinx, and Anime Dad in the name of abusing broken cards.
As for the lands, I'm an aggressive player in this format, unlike everything else I do. I'm fine curving out with two or three thanks to the ramp I get from rocks, and I don't need more than two or three colored sources a turn anyway. A lot of my deck is currently designed around abusing KCI for arbitrarily large sums of colorless mana, so a bunch of the deck is crafted with that in mind, ie Spine of Ish Sah over Vindicate. I know its stupid, but mathematically it hurts me in a very small percentage of games, and having those 2-3 extra answers has allowed me to win a solid handful of games that I wouldn't've otherwise.
guys, any discussion whatsover regarding arcane lighthouse? Seems good in general, but especially in my meta (thrun). Metalworker has been lackluster for me too. Not sure if going back to darksteel ingot is the right call vs the possibility of running unstable obelisk or commander's sphere? If anyone has had any experience with this, would be sweet. Also, someone on the last page said Intellectual Offering was an instant add to the deck. Seems kinda silly but potentially busted early starts with mana rocks could make it pretty cool. Seems hard to find a fit for that one, though. Plus giving your opponents more cards isn't the sweetest deal. Maybe it's awesome if you know you're gonna draw into gas to combo off based off something like top? idk, feedback would be appreciated.
While I run eggs and enjoy them greatly, it should be noted I run some really dense rocks elsewhere. I run Crypt, SR, Vault, Grim Monolith, for acceleration. Chromatic Lantern/Ingot/eggs are all for mana fixing. Personally, I've enjoyed adding the eggs to the list, but I was leaning REALLY hard on Salvaging Station to begin with. The eggs don't accelerate you-they filter your mana and cantrip. So long as you're compensating for this elsewhere, it shouldn't be a problem. The list I have posted hasn't changed much in the last year, and I'm at the point I wouldn't trade out the eggs unless I was doing an overhaul.
On Lighthouse:
This is an extremely meta specific card, and I would run it only if hexproof decks were a problem. That's pretty much all I have to say.
On Intellectual Offering:
I am really not a fan of symmetrical cards. They always tend to bust in my opponents favor. Maybe I have bad luck, or maybe I'm extremely bad at politics, but Offering seems like a card that is almost always going to draw you three cards, unless you absolutely need to untap during your opponent's step, in which case it will set off a "red alert" as a sign towards trying to combo out. I haven't tested it, and I'm biased, but I feel like Turnabout would be beter if you're wanting some shenanigans, or Cryptic Command if you can afford the mana.
