Purphoros is obviously awesome, especially when combined with the likes of Abhorrent Overlord, Dragon Broodmother and Mycoloth. Hero's Downfall is both flexible and reasonably efficient, so that's a keeper. Reaper of the Wilds is good for the filtering, although I'd rather have pure draw personally than conditional scrying.
Xenagos, I don't really have my finger on him yet, so I couldn't say one way or the other.
One card that I didn't see in the list of the deck history that you might want to give a try is Spitebellows. Evoking it makes it a great cookie for Kresh, getting him probably an average of 10-11 counters. Not bad for 3 mana. Have you tried it?

If you ran more dual lands (Bayou, Badlands, Taiga, Stomping Grounds, Overgrown Tomb, Blood Crypt) and Fetch Lands (Bloodstained Mire, Verdant Catacombs, Wooded Foothills), then it would be a much more efficient deck as far as mana is concerned, which would allow the use of more creatures, which makes using Kresh more efficient, because his ability will trigger much more often with the use of creatures to fetch mana. Also, just a side note, it is completely ignorant to state that your region is the best in commander, or more competitive than another. How can you be so sure? Is everyone that lives and plays outside of the area that you do somehow less intelligent, thus worse deck-builders? I somehow doubt that is the case. I have seen great players all over the country, some of them, that never play outside of basements. The world is a whole lot bigger than "your region."

I know I need the Duals and fetches. also I know we have one of the best because I have yet to see anyone from my area not go to a GP and skull**** everyone in there games with their(our guys) worsted decks. So that kinda helps.
Add: Overgrown Tomb: finally got the last Rav Land Vampire Nighthawk: I missed having this three drop, so i out it back in. Liliana Vess: one of the best tutors out there as long as you have protection for her Xenagos, Reveler: this guy an either net me a creature or a ton of mana, I love both options
Updated the Thread thoroughly, and am sending this back through for the Primer committee tomorrow Night, but first does anyone see anything wrong with everything I have so far?
December 31,2013 Update:
I just put Decree of Pain in Kresh, I can't wait to see what happens.
January 12, 2014 Cut: Bojuka Bog: there just was not enough reason recently to have this land in the deck. Temple of Abandon: needed room for a new (to me) tri-land. Night Soil: not enough creatures in the yard randomly to use this.
Add: Darigaaz's Caldera: A try land with a ounce effect to use on cycle land or anything i need bounced. Insidious Dreams: the Hive Mind , Enter the Infinite + extra draws annoyed me so much that I search for a card like this just for situations like that. Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre: Another card to counter act the problems of shenanigans.
more or less other than the land, this is to patch up a hole in my toolbox. last month I drew a game where the GroupHug deck after a few turns of my killing of generals finally played a Hive Mind and a Enter the Infinite with a Otherworld Atlas on the field with three counters on it. This made me realize that shenanigans like this and Mill are a weakness, now I have something for it.
February 17,2014-Born of the Gods Update I
Cut: Ooze Flux:Hasn't really been used, so I'm cutting it for updates Defense of the Heart:This was a hard cut, in all honesty probably didn't need to be cut but there are somethings I'd like to have. Deathrite Shaman: Another hard cut, but might try to put it back in.
Add: Mogis, God of Slaughter: I love this card, and can't wait to play him. Astral Cornucopia: people complain that i should run Chromatic Lantern, So I'm testing out this for now. Flame-Wreathed Pheonix: I think this will be an amazing card, hopefully it will be amazing.
Why isn't Kessig Wolf Run in this deck? If you want to check my list for more available options it's more of a voltron type of deck with Kresh but you have to keep him alive by any means necessary in order to be on top.
