What do you guys think about running a Vedalken Orrery? To use some of those aura's as a kind of combat trick?
Also, first post, long time lurker, EDH noob...
Vedalken Orrery (and blue-exclusive brother Leyline of Anticipation) don't just turn your auras into combat tricks. They also give Bruna pseudo-haste when you cast her at the end of the turn right before yours. Or whenever people are tapped out. Or you can turn Bruna herself into the awesomest combat trick ever! Imagine flashing her in to block, triggering her ability to take ALL THE AURAS!
So yes. They're very good. I just haven't put them in because the deck is crowded. But I do encourage trying those out and share your findings here!
I'm working on some kind of bruna list at the moment where I plan to run atleast the leyline and perhaps the orrery aswell. Really new to deckbuilding but I thought I'd give it a shot. Planning on throwing in Omniscience, Dovescape and some other stuff coupled with a rector mostly because it's fun to play big scary things.
Will write a line or two when the leyline or orrery pops up in a game and how well they work.

You're making a little monster there. Tell me how it goes!
A few suggestions with what you're rolling with: Academy Rector is so much more effective if you have a High Market ready; Dovescape is so good with Guile, but it's also great for when you just want to prevent everyone from playing Wrath of God after you play Bruna, Omniscience is a bit redundant, since Bruna already makes most of your stuff free.

Thanks for the suggestions! Thought about dovescape with guile but I want to avoid infinite loops. And it's mostly for some of my friends creatureless decks. And for the occasional Replenish through boseiju play. Still contemplating how many tutors I ant to put in. Guessing I'll find out what consistency I want after some rounds with it.

I've had a Bruna deck since she was released and I just wanted to share this gem here since the thread is active and seems to be full of fellow Bruna lovers. One of my absolute favorite cards to see in my opening hand when playing her deck is Dreamscape Artist. I stumbled on this guy accidentally and of all the "ramp" available in blue/white he a powerhouse. Granted I run with more of a looting theme, but this guy does so much work because we can pitch auras to his ability and not care too much about them, and the lands he fetches come into play untapped, so his ability ends up only costing 1 mana!
Decided to skip academy rector in the deck since most of the time she's mostly a slow unreliable tutor vs the decks I play with. Sticking her in a child of alara deck that's already got a decent amount of sac outlets
So far my list is somewhat similar but somewhat more controlly and carddrawy. Will need to recieve some cards in the mail and playtest it a bit before posting a list.

He also digs out the basics from your deck, making it less likely to draw into them later. And he's a body that can wear an aura or two in a pinch. Thanks for the suggestion!

That's somewhat the standard for Bruna decks, from what I observe. I think I'm just being stubborn.

so finally, I got to post in this topic !
I'm a long time reader of this wonderful primer and have finished gathering all the needed cards to make my own Bruna's list.
As I play both 1vs1 and multiplayer commander (non cutthroat competitive but still optimized), I have crafted a list which satisfies both banlists to save me the pain of switching cards.
I would like some advice/suggestions on how to improve it and if there are some crucial cards that I may have missed that would be good, especially in 1vs1.
Of course, my list is directly inspired from Jylichan's most recent one, so don't expect much innovation (more than 90% in common)
I think this is a great list. As was just suggested, you can also pick up a copy of Dreamscape Artist for next to nothing. I think he'd be a great inclusion.
I also have a copy of Divine Reckoning that I got just in case I'll need it. You can also test Armageddon or Catastrophe if you can find them. Catastrophe, in particular, because you can either use it defensively to wipe creatures before Bruna comes in, or offensively to seal a win once you get her out. :B
Divine Reckoning is an experiment of mine. I thought it would be good with Bruna or with any other creature of our list that is enchanted.
And even more, I can pitch it to the graveyard with the "loot" spells, as it has flashback.
For Dreamscape Artist, I'm not so sure. There's always the problem of summoning sickness, so I'm reluctant to put creatures without ETB effects.
And we don't have that many basic lands in the list, otherwise I would have put Terrain Generator (as in your old list) and Foil in place of Force of Will.
Finally, MLD spells are frown upon in my playgroup, so I avoided Armageddon. Catastrophe is more flexible, but in my opinion, if Bruna survives the first turn, the game should end quickly !
On another note Jylichan, when putting the cards together yesterday, I noticed that you don't have Command Tower in your manabase.
Is there a special reason ?
Cause it has nearly no downside, apart from not having the plains and island subtypes, and there's no budget issues with it..?
It's only not there because I forgot. Long ago, the deck focused on having a lot of basic lands, mainly because I didn't have multiple copies of a lot of the duals (or didn't have them at all). That has obviously changed, and Command Tower really should be there.
I'll fix that soon. I'm not at home at the moment, and I want to change the primer list live as I physically change the deck.
Just to be clear to everyone: there is absolutely no reason not to run Command Tower.
UPDATE:
It's spoiler season once again! I don't expect to find anything for the deck in this set, so one good aura would be awesome. That said, it's been spoiled today that the allied fetch lands will be back. While Flooded Strand is already in the deck, I'm thinking of getting a Polluted Delta and a Windswept Heath just to streamline the deck. These were out of the question before, since fetches were crazy expensive, but KTK is presenting the chance for a little optimization at a more reasonable price. What do you guys think?
Just to be clear to everyone: there is absolutely no reason not to run Command Tower.
Your meta is nothing but Back to Basics and Ruination decks that run every non-basic hate they possibly can.
I've always been interested in Bruna, but any goodies you've seen out of KTK thusfar?
Well, that's one reason. Although in a nonbasic hate environment, I still think Command Tower is one of the cards you should risk. Bruna's cost is somewhat color-heavy, leaning on white, and most lists I've seen are heavier on the blue, so some fixing is required.
To answer your question, nothing yet other than the fetches. We're still about 20% in so there's still a good chance!
Clever Impersonator is mostly a goodstuff-card that could probably work but isn't "ZOMG".
With all the discarding card-draw dig through time or treasure cruise should be easy to cast cheaply for some card-draw. But I personally prefer repeatable draw.
Stubborn Denial could be a nice counter to protect Bruna but there are better options unless you go really heavy on counterspells I think.
Apart form that nothing really stands out.

Ezackly. I somewhat expected this, considering that KTK is a wedge set, so I'm not totally bummed about it. As far as this deck goes, I was resigned to simply liking the fact that I can optimize the mana base with fetches without needing to sell my firstborn. Let me just mention that the deck thinning from fetches is quite important for Bruna because you have a lot of card draw that directly translates into killing power.
I find it problematic that Taigam's Scheming actually causes you to lose a card (the spell itself), but 5 cards is pretty deep. Will give it a shot. Meanwhile, have any of you guys experimented with the KTK delve spells Dig Through Time and Treasure Cruise? The deck does a lot of self-mill, and you only need to keep the auras so you can delve away the rest. That sounds fine in theory, but I'll have to try it out for reals. Anyone already gave it a go? Share please!
I don't think there's anything in the new Commander product for the deck. What's notable is that a lot of decks will be piloting Arcane Lighthouse, so shroud and hexproof aren't as strong anymore. Protection, however, is a tad stronger because of it. Spectra Ward may be a permanent include now.
Anyway, it's been a while, and good auras and other cards for this deck's specific needs are quite far apart. I'd welcome any stories and developments on your end.
Has anybody tested a build that's more dependent on artifacts for mana and that runs more MLD? I'm thinking of building Bruna and this seems like one of the best route to take. I could be wrong though, I rarely play aggro in EDH so that's why I'm asking you guys.
It's viable Vile_thinker. My build runs a control build with an emphasis on artifact ramp to get Bruna out quickly. It finishes through resource denial (MLD & Winter Orb) and taking extra turns to take out multiple enemies before somebody else gets to untap. To compensate, I have to run a large number of tutors and very few auras. It's a spiky strategy that increases your perceived threat to an EDH pod (assuming that they know your decklist). It's a very "safe" strategy that gets all of its pieces very quickly and can defend the strategy better than .
tl;dr it's my personal build and I'm satisfied with its performance at EDH tournaments; but it plays like a control deck with a finisher that you can drop at any point out of the Command Zone to wrap things up very quickly once you tutor all of the pieces
A hard aggro build would essentially revolve around stripping most control pieces, keeping tutors, and emphasizing ramp + ways to access your auras. The downside is that this strategy is more risky and susceptible to disruption whereas a control-shell would help negate interference and would allow you to disrupt opponents in turn.
That's my two cents on the matter, but this decklist is quite solid. You can use it as a template and switch some of the "just land-drop" forms of ramp to hard pieces of artifact ramp and it'd perform great from what I can tell.
Extra kudos for using Temporal Mastery and Savor the Moment! These are the lesser used time magic spells because they usually don't stack up well against Time Warp and the others, but in Bruna, they're just amazing.
Broliver's list is a great example of just how control-oriented Bruna can get. I'll certainly give it a whirl one of these days for a change. With notable auras being so few and far between, I figured I'll try out entire lists! There's nothing crazy like Mana Drain here, so I think I can cobble it together. I have thought about mana denial as a strategy before, but I just figured that messing around with tons of auras is the most obvious route, and the one I should take to start with. I'll hopefully start once I get a Swan Song.
Depending on how quick your meta is in adapting new tech from the Commander Set that came out, you might want to put in something like Ghost Town or Tectonic Edge (or Wasteland if you're lucky enough to have it) to get rid of Arcane Lighthouse, in the case of my more shroud-dependent list.
Vedalken Orrery (and blue-exclusive brother Leyline of Anticipation) don't just turn your auras into combat tricks.
