How did I come up with the idea for this deck, you might ask? Answer is simple: I wanted some change. My local meta had evolved more and more into "T2 - Kaalia with haste, combat, Iona, GG?" -type of goodstuff-decks, and even though my Sisters of Stone Death (which too was partly goodstuff) faired quite well, I wanted some change. So, I came up with the idea to do such a deck that I didn't have any kind of chance of accidentally turning my deck into goodstuff. So I went with tribal.
Then, after I had decided to go with tribal-theme, picking vampires wasn't a hard choice, as it seemed to have good and powerful creatures (and no one else had vampire deck in out meta, unlike wizards or goblins or so).
So now I had to finally choose my commander. Why Anowon, but no someone better like Olivia? Two reasons: At first, Anowon seems a tad unused and rather cool commander and just pretty much screams "Build a tribal around me!". Secondly, I wanted to do a mono-coloured EDH to limit my choices more and to avoid having to get any duals (and so to save same money, since I just HAD to get duals if I decided to make a multi-coloured deck).
The Deck
So after coming up the commander and tribal-theme, I had to choose what I decided to with my deck. As I have a heart of a blue mage, the answer was simple: Control. And in mono-B, it meant only one thing: No creatures for others. Removal, forced saccing, wipes.
Core cards:
- Grave Pact/Butcher of Malakir are the most important cards in this deck and on VERY high priority to search for if you happen to get a tutor and don't have either of these two on the field.
- Bloodghast a vampire that can be sacrificed again and again...
- Sengir Nosferatu may seem like total crap, but 2BB for triggering EVERY "whenever a creature dies"-effect in this deck (and there are quite a lot) and it can be used as many times as I want...
- Damnation & co., since at times you just want to kill everything. And there has been a few times, when playing damnation while having Anowon with Blade of Bloodchief and Darksteel Plate just won the game for me.

- Phyrexian Tower/High Market produce mana and are uncounterable sac outlets? Yes please!
