Another problem card is Mimic Vat. A person w/ a vat out can run all your guys through it was they die and nerf Shirei's ability. Although I never point that out in game. I just like to warn other Shirei players that it could happen.
I was browsing through some cards just now and I saw a card that you might find interesting Lifeline. Essentially it acts the same Shrei, but has no creature requirements. Maybe you could use it as board insurance?
ok, so this deck looks serious and i understand from a power perspective why you don't run it, but for this to actually be a casual deck as the thread states, you're going to have to include a copy of Shizo, Death's Storehouse. just for style points.

So, between having fewer on-site duties and more chances to play EDH with my change of location, I think I'll be able to start giving this thread the attention it deserves again.
Firstly, it's worth mentioning that, despite the list not reflecting it until a few minutes ago, I acquired a Liliana 3, and have been giving her a spin (thoughts: okay but nothing special, will keep her for now). The mostly superfluous Reassembling Skeleton was cut for her.
Perhaps more interestingly, RTR provides two soon-to-be-staple cards for monoblack decks: Grave Betrayal and Underworld Connections. Neither are remotely relevant to Shirei specifically, but they are, of course, both powerful cards in their own right. Connections seems like an auto-include. I will almost certainly be dropping Infernal Tribute for it (the latter seems great on paper, but for whatever reason is rarely useful). But I'm a little hesitant to include Betrayal because it is such a generic MBC threat. With the singular (and, I must admit, rather odd) exception of Avatar of Woe, I've tried to stay away from such cards. How do people feel about Grave Betrayal? Is it so powerful and potentially synergistic that I should just shrug and run it anyway?
Quick note: someone pinched this deck at GP San Jose. I really need to start chaining my decks down...Anyway, I'll have it rebuilt in a week or two because it's very easy to do, but I'm certainly not going to consider pimping it out again for a while.

take avatar out for the grave and never look back, at least "grave betrayal" has flavor with shirei a gravekeeper
all is dust
oblivion stone
nev's disk (cant spell it so no autocard)
Niv-Mizzet Ramp 'n' Wheel
Godo: Strap him up and turn him sideways!
Also there is
Karn Liberated
with
Karn, Silver Golem if you are running it you can animate the spine and sac it which is profit I guess to keep annoying things off board.
