So, I popped open a Yeva during the m13 Prerelease and I decided one night to build a deck with her as the general. The original design was pretty fast, but I've fleshed out some strategies, played around with some cards, made a few trades and I like what I have now. Though there are still cards I want (like Worldly Tutor, for one), the deck as a whole works pretty well. It's incredibly straight-forward and can be disabled somewhat easily, but hell, when it works, it's fun to pilot.
The general idea here is to get Yeva, then ramp in to fatties and just pound away at the opponent's life totals. I feel like I need some new lands to have instead of just pure forests, and that's reinforced by a little story I'll tell later on. There have been a few times where I've managed to flash a Primordial Hydra on to the board just before my turn to practically give it haste. Seedborn Muse is Yeva's best friend.
I do have a heavy bit of Saproling generation in there (Verdeloth, Mycoloth, Verdant Force, etc.) for the ridiculous and semi-gimmicky win condition of Life and Limb, Coat of Arms and Predatory Focus. And actually, not only is it fun to say "I swing at you with 30-some-odd 30/30 Saprolings that deal damage as if they weren't blocked", but Life and Limb provides some incredible Mana Ramp when combined with those guys.
I actually played a game in which I had 5 mana off of 4 lands. I played Life and Limb, planning to, on my next turn, play Mycoloth and actually devour the forests for a little bit of delayed acceleration. Devour for 8 counters, get 8 Saprolings next turn, wait a turn for Sickness, then just start getting ridiculous amounts of mana. Sadly, one of my opponents played Elsh Norn. Two more turns and I would've had a Coat of Arms on the board. And THIS is why I feel like I need more G producing/utility lands. So that the whole land bomb from Elsh Norn doesn't happen again.
Anyways, this is my current Yeva build. Constructive criticism is appreciated! I don't intended to spend big amounts of money on singles, but I'd be willing to take suggestions of things I may be able to trade around for.
If you're looking for a good beater, might I suggest Primalcrux. Alone hes a 6/6 trampler, but with a few other green permanents on the battlefield, he becomes a force to be reckoned with.
I'm also hesitant about Coat of Arms. Do you have enough of any one creature type to make it worthwhile?
think it could use more card-drawing green creatures, as well as the meanest to play with flash: Deathtouch creatures (it'll make opponents scared to attack you). Load up on those nasty spiders and basilisks.
I think a card tailor-made for this deck is Arboria, since once Yeva is out you'll generally never play on your turn.
