This is my first real shot at a commander deck. I have been interested in the format for awhile, but I haven't been able to find the right general. I finally found that in Animar. After browsing the forums I found gelf's 1v1 list for Animar and decided to tweak it for multiplayer.
The deck is very similar to gelf's list, but to make it more resilient. I'm not sure if this list is yet, but it's definitely a blast to play.
The cards that I have on the chopping block are:
Genesis - I haven't had too many situations where this card shined.
Capsize - It's only been a "win more" card.
Mimic Vat - Fun, but is often un-needed.
Sol Ring/Mana Crypt - They are often dead cards.
Fauna Shaman - I want more CIP triggers, Fauna Shaman doesn't do that.
Artisan of Kozilek - He's the worst "fatty" in the deck.
Mind's Desire: Interesting choice...but seems excessive. Has it played out well for you?
The main reason Mana Crypt + Sol Ring have remained in the deck are Mind's Desire + Tidespout Tyrant. I also agree on all the creatures you suggested, they are all slow and clunky, so is Solemn. I haven't formed an opinion on Green Sun's yet.
I like to Green Suns's Zenith for Dryad Arbor on turn 1 to accelerate and protect Animar from sacrifice effects. The green creature restriction can be a little annoying at times.
just commenting on your Avatar. You brought back some memories! Operation Ivy was my favorite band for most of my youth..when I was 14 I even ran into Jesse and Lint at a record store in Berkeley and I played Roshambo with Jesse (Pizza Slice vs Autographed CD)...I lost! However they still signed a copy of Energy for me...one of my favorite memories ever.

Sol Ring/Mana Crypt: Not worth the space in this deck
Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Keep: So low utility, much better to have a fetchable land
Okina, Temple to the Grandfathers: see above
Oracle of Mul Daya: too slow. Azusa has been excellent, but this one has never been worth the space
Body Double: Why? Seems win-more, and completely unnecessary.
Genesis: I cut this. Too slow, rarely useful. Animar is just way to fast to need this card.
Now, I'd love to hear how these two have been for you:
Green Sun's Zenith: I use Chord of Calling...I've never felt this was necessary. How's it been for you?
Mind's Desire: Interesting choice...but seems excessive. Has it played out well for you?
Optimal Arcum-Control
Teferi, Lockdown Mage
Animar, Aggro-Combo Beatdown
Grand Arbiter Augustin IV: Total Control
5-Color Control
The main reason Mana Crypt + Sol Ring have remained in the deck are Mind's Desire + Tidespout Tyrant. I also agree on all the creatures you suggested, they are all slow and clunky, so is Solemn. I haven't formed an opinion on Green Sun's yet.
When are you going to get around to updating your list?
I like to Green Suns's Zenith for Dryad Arbor on turn 1 to accelerate and protect Animar from sacrifice effects. The green creature restriction can be a little annoying at times.
