Norin the Wary is awesome. I decided to make an EDH deck around this guy because he is a straight beast. The main wincons are having Electropotence or Pandemonium out at the same time along with Norin and slowly pinging away. What is Norin the Wary most afraid of? A messed up battlefield full of a bunch of deadly dangerous artifacts such as Black Vise, Smokestack, Static Orbs, Oblivion Stones, etc etc. I want it to make sense that Norin the Wary keeps running and hiding
Combos are Confusion in the Ranks with Norin the Wary-Norin trades with other strong creatures, then when he leaves the game again he comes back under my control.
Norin and Pandemonium or Electropotence-slow, embarrassing death for the opponent
This deck is looking pretty good to me. With the rack drawing effects I can go through my deck every 7 turns or so. I haven't playtested it yet but I can imagine more land tapout or land destruction effects would be useful.
High Market+Confusion in the Ranks+Norin the Wary=I can take creatures, attack with them, and then sac it if I feel like it-reusable.
Also any stalling lands, or lands that greatly accellorate artifacts would be good. Also any good mana accel that is useful to speed up paying colorless mana can probably help this deck out.
I want to create a deck that locks everyone out. People who aren't familiar with the deck will see Norin and expect a joke deck. Lol I want to play out the most brutal battle field possible, I want Norin to be running all time for a reason lol
i have an idea to play every single fork effect possible.
Maybe I should remove some of the chaos effects and add in the red akroma as well, so this deck actually has a chance to win.
Too bad Norin the Wary coming into play and dealing damage through pandemonium doesn't count as General Damage, that rule needs to get rewritten
Krark's Thumb and Chance Encounter look like a good combo, but I'd need more cards that let me flip a coin lol, but most importantly cards that let me search for these cards. Coinflips and forks need to be emphasized. I can fork a counterspell correct and then use the forked counter to counter my opponents original counter?
Yeah, you can Fork a counter to counter an opposing counter. Also, Norin + Pandemonium/Electropotence does count as general damage. when Norin ETBs, the effect reads "The creature deals damage equal to it's power." It's the same as that BR 3/1 that has "2, sac a creature: ~ deals 2 damage to target creature or player."

Only combat damage is general damage. Any non-combat damage dealt by your general is normal damage.

O Rly? Then that means that guy with that BR 3/1 doesn't have a bomb easy way of dealing General damage. Which also means that Darigaz, the Igniter's ability isn't General damage either...
Do you guys know any good stalling artifacts or red cards in the same vein as Smoke, Meekstone and Winter Orb that could help me to stall out everyone to help annoy and trap people while Norin continually and uselessly flickers in and out of play? Null Rod is looking nice

The start of game procedure for EDH is as follows:
Players announce their choice of General and move that card to the command zone.
Players may then sideboard if the optional rule for sideboards are being used.
Each player draws a hand of seven cards.
Players may mulligan, using the modified "partial paris" method (detailed below)
Being a General is not a characteristic[MTG CR109.3], it is a property of the card. As such, "Generalness" cannot be copied or overwritten by continuous effects, and does not change with control of the card.
If a player has been dealt 21 points of combat damage by a particular General during the game, that player loses a game.
As for Norin, Surgin Chaos is right with the Genesis Chamber and the rules thing. That doesn't mean norin is not fun, but that you will need to work harder on the 'not die' part so you get enough time to kill ppl. I suggest Oblivion Stone if you can generate the mana for it. Nothing says "LEAVE ME THE **** ALONE OR I BLOW UP THE FREAKIN' WORLD IN RESPONSE TO YOUR PRECIOUS DECLARE ATTACKERS!' than an untapped 'stone and 5 mana. Maybe I have a bit too much experience with that phrase...
Anyway, definitely stay with Norin. One of the funniest generals out there.
Cheers!

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

update-ok i changed this deck alot, trying to make it lean more toward the brutal lockdown side then i would towards the goofy chaotic side. i want to try to make the most brutal lockdown ever, can u guys help me with that?
i think i need more ways to lockout massive creatures
can you reccomend any more global lockdown red or artifact spells, or just annoying cards that are really hard to get around??
edit-found a really good card that goes with Norin-Pyrohemia. Just wait for Norin to phase out on your opponents turn, or attack with it during your turn, and then hit with pyrohemia, killing everything hopefully, then Norin comes back in and you don't have to sack Pyrohemia
thinking about adding that which was taken as well but maybe its not needed. My best friend plays a deck with about 20 control magic spells. I also play Confusion in the Ranks, so I wanted all of artifacts to still have the same global effect even if my opponent chooses to take control of them so a global soft lock is always in place, unless of course an opponent gains control of one and sacs it in someway.
I would suggest Gamble? Just because it's red's only tutor. Although I havn't thoroughly playtested the card, it can get your Pandemonium and Electropotence when you don't have your planar portal out. Or better yet, you can just get the planar portal with gamble!
added gauntlets. Can you reccoment any more prison style artifact or red cards? I want to have potential to get a hard global lock lol. Long slow drawn out death by Norin the Wary is the worst way to die imo
Mogg Infestation is one of the few red *** spells. Of course Norin never dies from these. I don't know if you want to give a opponient a lot of goblins but this card will kill target players creatures.

And you might want to add Goblin Welder, the original STAX king, because you can keep recycling smokestack, or get rid of something for your turn and switch it back during your opponents.
Also, Damping Engine I think is what it's called? The original ward of bones. Kinda.
Yeh I just assumed Goblin Welder was banned in EDH, but it's awesome that it isn't. Dampening Engine looks good. Do you guys think I should add Mycosynth Lattice for the Lattice+forge combo so all my enchants and little goblins are indestructible?
Also can you guys reccomend good colorless mana generators, I can't shell out $10 for another soul ring and even grim monolith is a little out of my range but I'll get another if needed.
Thinking of taking out Risky Move for Damping Engine, and something else for Mycosynth Lattice, can't think what though
-took out Ivory Tower for Mogg Infestation-good suggestion!
yeh ensnaring bridge combos really well with Bottled Cloister, atleast I think that combo should work. took out worn powerstone for ensnaring bridge, i dont think i should need many accelerators because apart from Goblin Game and Obliterate most of my cards cost 5 or less mana. I'd still like to go up 2 more lands atleast. can anyone reccomend what to take out? Also I might need ivory tower back, to gain life so I dont kill myself from Pyrohemia incase I dont Viseling or Ebony Owl Netsuke. also want to add some gorilla shaman somewhere
Forcefield is a strong protection artifact i would consider.
Looks real good. Also I am going to fit Iron Maiden and Miser's Cage into this thing Even then I need to take out 2 cards to add in atleast 2 lands. Took out Goblin Game, it is a fun card and decent but too overcosted at 7 mana for what it does
Not sure if it's work running Bottled Cloisters for how it combos with ensnaring bridge, bottled cloisters is real dangerous if it gets destroyed I lose my hand.
That's my hilarious Norin deck. It hasn't technically WON any games..but it warped them enough that no one else could win while I stayed in. So far, I've been able to prevent 3/4 of ALL combat damage in a 4-way game as well as destroy almost all of the creatures in the game, too(Including an animated Maze of ith, but that was due to a Plane card affecting it.) Also once used it in a regular casual constructed game. I got everyone down to 8 life before they finally killed me off.
This deck is random as anything, but downright hilarious. Even if you just constantly say, "And he runs away again!" or "He's attacking you! Nope, you're too scary, he's hiding in another closet." Also, the deck, like I said, has a habit of ROYALLY screwing up combat for other players.
That said, I've been meaning to get an Extraplanar lense and also Gauntlet of power for the deck, to self-ramp. Also, I'm pretty sure I have an extra Puzzlebox around somehwere I should put in. The deck lacks any real sort of card draw/card fixing, and it's something I really should try to fix.
Storm World looks really good for my deck, cant believe I missed that. Your Norin deck looks chaotic to play against, I originally went that direction with my design but then I instead i decided to try to make mine brutal to play against, so it makes sense why norin keeps running away. I guess Norin is a pretty versatile general
