I realized I miss playing with Ihsan's Shade when I saw his name in the database of unused Generals. I used to put him in my black decks all the time in the good old days...he was such a house! And impervious to the allmighty Swords to Plowshares...oh, those where the days...:p

Eh, anyway, I saw they made him into a Shade Knight, which is a very cool combination...it just sounds cool, and I looked it up....he's the only Legendary Shade! *kicks Mistform Ultimus. Shut up you!*

So I build a sorta Tribal Shade deck. It generates loads of swampy mana and makes the most use of it!

What about Black Knight!? I'm outraged that he's not in here. He's like a mini Ihsan's Shade. That practically makes them bro's.

I can't think of anything Ihsan's Shade hates more than white; therefore, I vote more white Hatred with something like Western Paladin.

Well, actually it's more the other way around. He was seduced by the powers Baron Sengir offered him and he resents HIM, not the Serra Paladins he once belonged to. But the Paladins are very angry at Ihsan for betraying them.

Very very cool deck idea. I saw the general and was like... well that's a waste. There are better mono black generals, but then again who am I to judge when someone creates an awesome deck around a card they have personal love for?

As far as suggestions go, Damnation is the only one I can see that I would add personally.

The main reason i didn't add Damnation is purely because it's an expensive card.

this deck construction you made has helped me a lot because ihsan's shade is also my favorite but can't really use him because he's old, but in the commander format, which makes him stronger, lets me use him. I would add Butcher's Glee because it gives target creature +3/0 and life link until end of turn.

How about Rogue's Passage and Bojuka Bog, far as lands go?

Also, there are some other "pro-swamp" type creatures, like Nirkana Revenant (also a Shade!) and Crypt Ghast.

Great additions, main reason they're not in this deck is that the cards didn't exist in 2009 ;).

It's not shade-themed, but Distorting Lens (maybe Scuttlemutt, too) is something I'd want to keep around if I was a 5/5 with protection from white...

Nirkana Revenant? Or is that also too expensive?

Everytime I see someone use a Homelands legend as their commander I cry a tear of nostalgia :).

I made this deck as an idea. I had a lot of time at work in 2009 and I was creating decks for all unused Commanders :).

Part as a way to entertain myself, part as a to have a sample deck if anybody wanted to build a deck with one of the weaker but still very cool Commanders.
