Most less useful legendary creatures from Legends have either a funky ability or at least a relevant creature type. But poor old Pavel is just Human, nothing else! And since Human Tribal just ain't cool, I decided to focus on his ability to pump himself.
The whole and sole purpose of this deck is to deal 21 combat damage with Pavel! Buckets of mana, double strike, double damage, more mana and some tricks should do it! If you give him double strike, shadow/trample and are able to double the damage AND attack a second time, you could kill multiple opponents in one turn!
And I think I can say for sure nobody, and I mean nobody, ever said to you: "You've been killed by Pavel Maliki"
"We all know the legend: Pavel wanders the realms, helping those in greatest need. But is this a measure of his generosity, or of his obligation to atone?"
Now we know. It's just a ruse to kill Planeswalkers like you!
Do you have some sort of fetisch for taking useless generals and build around them? Is this for flavour, or because nobody else is doing it? xP
I think I'll just take this as a compliment I got intrigued by all the unused Generals and wanted to build decks around them. And since I think flavor is more important than power in EDH, they tend to be very Vorthos I hope you like them
How could I forget! Swapped them, no place for both.
Sewers of Estark ... just ... do you want any more medals for usually useless, extremely old-school and yet dripping-in-awesome cards? Damn you, man.
Thank you It does the job, and it's just cool. Imagine Pavel sneaking through some sewer to get to your opponent....
Also, I might suggest some kind of unpreventable damage angle.
Partly to offset Fiery Gambit/Impulsive Maneuvers and partly 'cause a COP Red is a real kick in the teeth :-P
I can't think of names at the moment but I'm sure someone can.
Is Fireshrieker worth it?
It's no Rage Reflection, but it's quite hot. Wound Reflection also makes people dead very quickly, but it doesn't make many friends ...
Oh, Shrieker's in there - my bad.
Yeah, it's in. Wound Reflection is no combat damage, so no General damage, so a no go
Browbeat is just a slightly lower-cost Lava Axe that goes to the enemy with the most HP. You don't see many of those in EDH for a reason ...
True. Kicked out.
Also, the statutory Loxodon Warhammer is a) Awesome and b) A brilliant reason to jam in Hatred.
That'll finish someone off (most likely Pavel, but hey) in ... well, one swing.
I thought of Hatred and then forgot! He's in with the Hammer
And if you get another combat step, you can make that 2 someones.
Sod it - play Seize the Day and it's 3. Why the hell not?
nobody, ever said to you: "You've been killed by Pavel Maliki"
Nope, never been told, or said, that particular phrase.
On your list, I think you could improve a few of the manafacts to more - dare I say 'normal' - generators like Darksteel Ingot and Rakdos Signet to help pump Pavel and/or accelerate into him earlier.
GL on our list, and I am glad to see such an oddball general!

Thanks, good idea. I added these and a Thran Dynamo instead of one-shot effects.

Thanks I posted several oddball generals, but I like this one because it even has a chance to work
I think I like it a lot better than your previous ones because of the flavor you weaved into the list. Rather than organizing it in the same fashion as everyone else, you DID organize it, but used titles that refer to the strategy instead of card types (only matters if Tarmogoyf is your general) and referring to the flavor text of the card. Very well done!

Thanks! Sometimes it's just easier to list the stuff I put in as "artifacts" and "enchantments" etc, but this is way cooler, I agree. I'll try to change some of the other lists as well! Flavor is so important
EDIT: I fixed ALL my EDH decks by giving them cool names
Just wanted to say this is an awesome r/b good stuff beat down list. I love your commander choice, at first i wasn't going to look at the list because my thoughts were Pavel Maliki wtf??? but I am glad I did. I bet this is deck is a blast to play and i can only imagine the looks on players faces when the get killed by Pavel lol
The character of Pavel Maliki seems to be at odds with his colour identity, in terms of the modern colour pie. Atonement, generosity, and helpfuness aren't typically RB traits. Although, maybe he's like the Incredible Hulk... after all, he does get bigger!

Added them. Took out some flip-a-coin damage doublers and a random managenerator. Thanks!

Yeah, Everlasting Torment, Flaring Pain and Unstable Footing. They're in! Never occured to me they can prevent the prevention from Desperate Gambit and Impulsive Maneuvers. I only play the Gambit, there's just no room!
