Was wondering if someone would be able to help me with some opinions.
EDH is not my first port of call magic wise, but I'm interested in getting an EDH deck to play some casual games of 1v1.
Because EDH is not my main focus, I'm trying to build on a budget, say 50-75usd. Because I will play solely on MTGO, two things apply:
- Most cards are far, far cheaper in there. For example, Survival of the Fittest is a penny a dozen type of card.
- Most EDH decks you find in there are in roughly two groups, multiplayer decks going for the occasional 1v1 game, fully blown firing on all cylinders 1v1 EDH decks.
I'm trying to find what would be more suited to be built on a buddget based on the above?
I've considered building a Geist deck, but when you start going through the support cast the bill starts going up really fast, so I'm eager to listen to other options that are more suited to be built on a budget. I also considered a Sisay toolbox, but Linvalas are expensive and hell, and so is Teeg and so, again, the bill was growing very fast. These are two styles of play I like, putting a threat in play and defend it as I bash face, or toolboxy type of decks that are never dry whatever they find.
Obviously, my objective is not to win any tournaments , since there none in MTGO for EDH, but having a deck that is entertaining and varied to play and that will not get buldozed by the first Dareti deck it finds.
I would suggest Yisan, the wanderer Bard. He can be quite competitive without spending too much money. He plays more like a blue deck because of his tap ability that lets you put search for a creature in response to your opponents spells. There are also a lot of creature combos that let him get out of hand really fast.
