Counter-point: We can't activate this super often. But how many free-to-hand universal tutours do you need to win a game? One trigger, maybe a second?
I'm not saying that it isn't powerful. He's scary, though no Griselbrand. I'm just thinking that you aren't running enough creatures to get him to trigger even once most of the time. Hell, I'm running your Legacy version (that runs roughly twice as many creatures) and I think that even then I'm still light on creatures to sac even once.
Your Fellowship list runs only 16 creatures total besides the missus. Out of those, we can count out Tidehollow Sculler, Master of Cruelties, Sire of Insanity, and Iona, Shield of Emeria as cards that we wouldn't trade out to tutor for something. Either we sorta really want them to stay out because of what they do by just sitting out, or in the case of Master of Cruelties, we just one shot'd them. A few others that we could add to this list to a lesser extent would also be Grand Abolisher, Blinding Angel, Baneslayer Angel, and Steel Hellkite. This is leaving you with almost so few of targets that you'd almost have to tutor for one of the remaining creatures just so you can sac it to the beast. You'd actually be running one fewer target just to make room for him in the deck.
I'm not saying that he's bad or anything. Let's face it, a 8/8 flample is nothing to laugh at. It could end the game in just a few swings by himself. I would prefer to run something like Gisela, Blade of Goldnight instead though.
Though... If you do include him, that might make a case for finally slotting in Bitterblossom...
I really need to get to theory crafting this Wildfire version. Been doing Alesha things, Zurgo things, 1v1 things, now Glissa and Jund Partners things for ages...
I just know, for sure, there's definitely a case to be made for something that tutours virtually at-will for no mana investment.
A Wildfire / Burning of Xinye version? That'd be epic! I'd be so down for that!
And yes, there IS a huge case to be made for it. My only issue is that this build wouldn't be able to work it. Now, maybe a token build variant or multiplayer (though she really doesn't do multiplayer) could work. Hmmm...

Yeah man. I had the idea a few nights ago thinking about Earnest Fellowship both protecting Kaalia from it, playing the oh-so-important geddon role, but not completely wiping our lands, but also playing well with our rocks. Rocks and disruption are at odds in the same list, making this rock version a multiplayer list. Since I LOVE me some Wildfire, and will try to justify adding it to any deck that plays R........
Now I just have to figure out how I will go about it. It's certainly untested waters haha. (FWIW, Burning of Xinye is actually quite bad as it does not scale to multiplayer - it is targeted. It's also not sacrifice).
Hello, I am a new Kaalia player and I am building my deck in MOL and in RL.
In MOL is focussed on 1vs1 and in RL in multiplayer.
I won't post my lists yet because they need a lot of fixin and I am reading the 168 pages of this post (currently in page 42), I have learned a lot of those first 42 pages and improved my deck a lot and I asume is going to be better.
Every list I see only play the enchant, how often Kaalia survives one turn in 1v1 or in multi without that? our best scenario is playing kaalia with halls of the bandit lord at turn 3 or t4 with boots but at least in my experience (MOL) this is not happing as often as I want.
Is not a concern?
2) Mana rocks, maybe I have not yet red the page you talked about it, but why we don't play chrome mox? just as jeweled amulet it provides us another t3 kaalia.
4) Maybe I am just playing Kaalia bad, I am a control player normally and this is my very first aggro deck in more than a decade playing MTG, I only have a pick-nick against mono colored decks (green or red) and suffer a lot against ramp / voltron ones except if I can land early earnest fellowship that shuts some buffs.
5) I am thinkin maybe I have not the mindset of an agro player (ALL-IN) and perhaps I should build a kaalia stax kind of build but mayb I am wrong, Kaalia stax is any good?

3drink's Kaalia build isn't an all-in Kaalia deck. If it was, it would really be focused on attacking and creatures. His deck is designed more to control the board and disrupting the opponent until he has a clear opening for Kaalia, which can allow him to put another creature on the battlefield that also does something to the board or opponent.
In 1 vs. 1, 3drinks' card choices are designed to deal with the opponent's hand and board. In that sense, he doesn't need as many protection cards for Kaalia, because he is disrupting the opponent's hand or taking away something from the opponent's board. For example, he can take away a removal card from the opponent's hand using discard spells.
For multiplayer, discard doesn't scale, so most players either choose a Stax strategy, pillowfort, or a reanimation strategy.
been out of the loop very a very long time on kaalia. is the original decklist still valid? haven't seen any updates to it for a very long time.
The main reason is, to write a mostly new list is going to rewrite large chunks of the information in the Primer as well, including going through the Primer review process. Those that were around years ago remember the painstaking time it took to make them realize this is THE list. I don't...really want to go through all of that again, lol.
The other is because I've been doing Alesha things, cube things (Mardu allstars cube specific) and all my games here in this area seem to be multiplayer, where Kaalia doesn't do well. "Oh, it's a 2/2 flyer that might do something! Get her!!!" ....Meanwhile let's completely ignore the Derevi pilot whom has a Seedborn Muse and a Teferi, MoZ on board. Couple that with my innate ability to draw people's hate whether I'm on Alesha Slivers, or pulling a random 61 out of a 252 card pool.

Kaalia gets pre-game hate easily due to her ability. No one wants to be shut out of the game or killed by turn 3/4 (via Master of Cruelties or Iona, Shield of Emeria) no matter how much politics you play. I do the same thing against Jhoira of the Ghitu...turn 2 kill her on the spot.

Oh no, I get it. It's just...imagine auto-hating a non-U commander that is easy to interact with at all points of the game instead of the more egregious offenders (such as the aforementioned Jhoira, or better yet this is a format with Zur and Edric legal...but Kaalia too OP). It's just frustrating.

I played two games last night where a friend across the table was playing Kaalia. To his right was a Talrand, Sky Summoner deck - very turned with 0 creatures. The friend's deck was not that powerful, just heavy hitter creatures. But everyone ignored the mono blue and guess who won? lol

#Vintage awful threat assessment. Scared of "big creatures" that every deck can handle at all phases of the game. completely ignore the deck you need counters to stop the busted combos for.
I took a much different approach, few extra bodies to help fuel Razaketh. A bit heavier on rocks to work with my preferred wrath, and some early play/proactive disruption. I built under the premise that "there's no such thing as an auto-include crd", hence why some old "must haves" may not be in the list. Yet, there's still our old faves...*waves to Master of Cruelties & Rakdos the Defiler*.
This is also built for multiplayer, or as best as I can attempt to figure multiplayer crap out. Enjoy.
I play kaalia in multiplayer in a semi competitive group (we play for fun but our decklist are pretty tuned but without reserved list cards etc.) I put razaketh after prerelease and he is a house. A question I have Razaketh and Kaalia in play. I attack with both. Kaalia trigger on stack in response i sac kaalia to razaketh and tutor a card. Kaalia ability resolves so I can tutor what i want to cheat in?
This 100% works. Much like responding to Kaalia's attack trigger with, say, Tainted Pact or Demonic Consultation to get what you need right now.
This is a treat, was not expecting another revamp here.
How has this deck fared for your? A lot of card draw in this build.
Pain Seer - How has this performed? the 2/2 body means that as long as the opponent has a blocker, this will be blocked. Eternal Dragon - Is this in here for the plaincycling and potentially the return to hand ability if you need to sac it to Razaketh? Springleaf Drum - Do you have problems using its ability when you dont draw Bitterblossom? Sarkhan's Triumph - What dragon do you most often search with this ability? Isn't say Diabolic Tutor's flexibility or Gamble better in its place?
I cut Tango Lands from my deck because I only run 3 basics, on average, does Smoldering Marsh enter tapped?
Also surprised that you aren't running Armageddon with so many mana rocks

Pain Seer also works with Drum.
Eternal Dragon was a slow and clunky way to rebuild post wildfire. I'm not sure it was ever good enough. But finding duals is a fave past time of mine...lol.
Drum taps a lot of things for mana - Bob, seer, vandal, and etc. It's performed slightly better than jeweled amulet for every time after the first use.
Triumph is an instant tutour (respond to Kaalia trigger). That's huge. Most often it gets hellkite tyrant or steel hellkite. In 1v1 it could find thundermaw to force a swing through...i like it.
Tangos. Fetchable duals. I love fetching duals so...worst case you fetch this first then abus, then untapped shocks if you need them.
Lack of geddon was a conscious choice as i tried wildfire. I liked fellowship protecting our lady from it while still giving us that resource denial.
Seems like if you were going that route you would keep the sword, as it directly helps you win in conjunction with Razzle Dazzle. Or is this win more? I like winning more though.
Don't understand other directions you took with this build. And what exactly are the two spells that aren't supposed to be Volrath's Stronghold and Isolated Chapel? And again, why would you remove Volrath's at all if the idea is to help fuel Razzle Dazzle.

Sorry 3drinks but you lost me bro.
As to the lands. I wanted more ways of making all my colours and minimizing tap duals. As I recall, i had it down to a tango and bandit lord - and the tango you typically fetch t1 so really bandit lord was the only tap land.
As to sword. Our goal is to set up a board state where she can attack safely and repeatedly, sword doesn't help with that - it merely enhances the way she attacks. That's the definition of win more.
On the other hand, Sword of Light and Shadow grants protection from two colors known for removal spells and effects. In some multiplayer metas, it does allow Kaalia to attack safely and repeatedly, so it is not necessarily just a win-more card.
Some players feel that Darksteel Plate is an enabler for Kaalia, not just a win-more card. However, in multiplayer, color protection is generally more desirable than indestructibility, because of the abundance of exile effects and spells.

I find Earnest Fellowship to be superior in this aspect, and it also disrupts the odd enchant-based voltron build too (and as I randomly watched first-hand, has hilarious results towards Zada, Hedron Grinder...)
Honestly, if I needed another similar protective effect, I'd rather have a Sylvan Safekeeper. But we're not in G so...
EDIT:Glory! That's the one I meant to say! I should probably be playing that as it's more sneaky (people don't pay near as much attention to graves as they should), repeatable, and while 2WIS a lot, it does protect the whole team.

I already have Earnest Fellowship, since you already demonstrated its value two years ago or so. In multiplayer, I'm not using shroud/hexproof stuff as much, since while it does stop targeted removal, it doesn't prevent blocking certain colored creatures, which color protection grants. I still use Sword of Light and Shadow for that purpose. I used to use Mother of Runes, but that creature was too fragile for a 1/1.
Glory sounds like a neat idea in multiplayer and an easy Razaketh fodder.
Hey 3drinks, I wrote a multi-player Primer that I would love your feedback on. I don't pretend to be a personal liaison to Kaalia, but I do think that I have a list that is tuned for multi-player.
Also, Razaketh, the Foulblooded is fantastic in my list. You can sac out hate-bears to get the last Angel, Demon, or Dragon to kill each opponent. Besides hitting for 8 damage, which is an f-ton of damage. I highly recommend playing it.
Hmmm...

Now my questions:
1) I play in MOL faith's shield, stave off, apostle's blessing and one or more 'protect me' card to save kaalia from abuses and prevent removal/copy/stealing of my fatties (I also play earnest fellowship)
Every list I see only play the enchant, how often Kaalia survives one turn in 1v1 or in multi without that? our best scenario is playing kaalia with halls of the bandit lord at turn 3 or t4 with boots but at least in my experience (MOL) this is not happing as often as I want.

3) When I got to play T1 dark ritual + Sol ring + abysal persecutor seems awesome, is aby a bad choice?
4) Maybe I am just playing Kaalia bad, I am a control player normally and this is my very first aggro deck in more than a decade playing MTG, I only have a pick-nick against mono colored decks (green or red) and suffer a lot against ramp / voltron ones except if I can land early earnest fellowship that shuts some buffs.
5) I am thinkin maybe I have not the mindset of an agro player (ALL-IN) and perhaps I should build a kaalia stax kind of build but mayb I am wrong, Kaalia stax is any good?

As to the lands. I wanted more ways of making all my colours and minimizing tap duals. As I recall, i had it down to a tango and bandit lord - and the tango you typically fetch t1 so really bandit lord was the only tap land.
As to sword. Our goal is to set up a board state where she can attack safely and repeatedly, sword doesn't help with that - it merely enhances the way she attacks. That's the definition of win more.

EDIT: Glory! That's the one I meant to say! I should probably be playing that as it's more sneaky (people don't pay near as much attention to graves as they should), repeatable, and while 2W IS a lot, it does protect the whole team.

Also, Razaketh, the Foulblooded is fantastic in my list. You can sac out hate-bears to get the last Angel, Demon, or Dragon to kill each opponent. Besides hitting for 8 damage, which is an f-ton of damage. I highly recommend playing it.
UB Dralnu, Lich Lord
RBW [Primer]-Kaalia of the Vast
BUG [Primer]-Tasigur, the Golden Fang
GWU [Primer]-Arcades, the Strategist
WUB Primer-Aminatou, the Fateshifter
UBR Nicol Bolas, the Ravager
Goblin Green Acres
Worse than Brain Maggot/Sculler, too limited in what it grabs and easy enough to get the card back. I gotta pass on this one.
