TANeoK vs. HalfonE (Laransoft on MTGS) 0:0 - Intentional Draw HalfonE wanted to play, but actually I'm kind of busy and not enjoying the game lately, so I'm glad he took a draw.
Dan Pyre (Nin) 2-1 over Hellstotheyeah (Captain Sisay)
GGs man! Thanks for playing!
Now I need to go through and input the rest of these results haha
And a general reminder to everyone - the round ends in about 23 hours from this post, please make sure to contact your opponent to complete your match and make sure to post in the thread if you can't play or didn't so that you are not dropped for inactivity.
And that's time in the round, folks! Doing a little logistics here and dealing with those who didn't post/play their match and then the final round will go up!
Edit: Jivanmukta, metamorf, Jester831 and tabulartony dropped for inactivity. As always guys, nothing personal, just gotta make sure we keep things rolling here. Reminder to everyone for Round 6: Please make sure to complete your match ASAP since I can start the Top 8 once all the matches have been confirmed
I did not create any rules regarding ID's for this event. I intended for it to play out just like a paper tournament would, which does include the chance for players to intentionally draw to get into the Top 8. There will not be a penalty for players who ID nor will I change the rules on them this late in the game.
That said: I am considering altering this rule for future events. The reality is that players have a week to complete their matches every round - there are very, very few instances where this should not be possible. I would appreciate if all players COULD play out their final rounds so we could get as close to 'real' standings as possible.
My 2 cents: draws should get zero points. this is a tournament mostly for practice, metagame data, etc. yes we all want to win but at the same time i think we all want to play magic. then again, I do not disagree with those ID'ing - I might even do it myself, because its within the rules of the game, but yes I think moving forward it might be better to just have zero points for a draw. plus this is more incentive to finish your matches AND play a deck that can actually end a game in a reasonable amount of time.
And that's time, folks! If you haven't submitted your results here or posted it will just be a tie. I should have the Top 8 tournament bracket up shortly. Stay tuned!
This stupid ID just kill tourney. Sneaky players just waiting end of last rounds, deciding play or not.
Which is why I won't be doing it going forward, however it is a valid strategy in paper tournaments which is why I hadn't made rules against it prior to this.
Top 8 players, please remember to use the modified Play/Draw rule when starting the games. That is to say, the person with the higher seed gets to decide on whether they will play first or not. (Seed is the number next to your name in the bracket linked above).
Me (Jace VP) 2 - 1 d3m0ng3r (Clique). Pretty dumb games, g1 I kept a 3 lander with 1 island and 2 nonbasics, jace got countered and I never drew another land, but drew extraplanar lens and a bunch of 5 CMC+ cards that I couldn't cast. Conceded on turn 5. Games 2 and 3 were the opposite, I drew relevant cards for my early game and my opponent drew noninteractive pieces so I won easily.
I guess there will be a Jace in the finals now, too bad there won't be a Jace mirror final!
Whoever is interested our QF match starts in 55 min at 11 PM UTC+3/10 PM UTC+2
Dan, JFYI, we have forbidden draws in our local leagues. As Loxmatii said above, the logic is very simple
a) We are playing untimed rounds, draws are naturally impossible
b) People join the leagues to play and most are playing for the glory. Being able to ID contradicts the sportsmanship side of the deal. If you are good - you are going to make the cut, if not - we are running 4 leagues per year so you are welcome to prep better and join the next one.
Hi guys, an short explanation for the Play/Draw ruling was in the Top 8 post here.
As for ID's, no worries - basically everyone is against them for the online events going forward (myself included :P) so they won't be an issue from this event forward (that I run, anyway.)
I'll input the scores from the reported matches now.
If you would like to post your replays, feel free to do so but I won't be requiring them. I've been working overtime every week for the past month so I'm pretty frazzled and don't have much time to do videos at all at the moment. Sorry!
Remember to use this bracket to determine your seed and use the Modified Play/Draw rule to determine who gets to play first (higher seeded gets the choice.)
Good luck!
Top 8 players: Remember to send me your decklists if you have not done so yet.
Unfortunately for my opponent, he mulled to 5 both games. Needless to say the games were pretty one-sided. Very nice opponent, I hope we can both make finals in the next MTGS tourney.
Loxmatii(Animar) 2 - Agent of Cuba(Meren) 1
Good luck on the rest of tournament
