What do you think about Malicious Affliction? Double black may be a problem (especially when we need a removal on T2). Otherwise it's solid card advantage..small creatures love to chump-block :). I will give it a try.
I don't like conditional removals tbh. It can only hit non-black crits, so it's a dead card vs black generals.
Edict removals or -3/-3 ones are better imo.
From my testing of Anafenza - Doran is a way better beater. What a surprise, right? There are the games where we have lousy 4/4 without relevant ability that dies to Flametongue Kavu or 5/5 commanders. But she hoses Child of Alara or Mimeoplasm so hard. And when you get manadork on the table (or any other attacking creature), she almost balances her "4power disadvantage" and is as good as Doran. As ninjajinx wrote, just a metagame call.
You can definitely make a hatebear deck in Doran colors. I already run Gaddock Teeg, the best hatekithkin there is
Brain Maggot and Mesmeric Fiend are good crits, but IF your meta has fast aggro, early red sweepers and too few control you should take them out. Add Marath to that list too.
Hushwing Griff (haven't tested it ever) imo is not very good in duel commander because there's not much etb to hate.
Aven Mindcensor, on the other hand, has already proven itself simply because of fetchlands.
Yixlid Jailer, idk what it's gonna shut down.
Kataki only hoses ramp decks who uses artifact ramp, it's another meta card. And that's if you don't use swords in your build.
Anafenza pumping infect crits is too slow imo. And I haven't seen Rafiq Infect show in any tournament lately.
Doran is pretty strong option, but for it to be effective you need a good manabase. If you can build in lines of 6 duals/9 fetches (then everything else, filters, pains, checks etc.) the rest of the deck will come together nicely. This deck needs its mana to be really flexible to go like T1 Elf, T2 Doran, T3 Elspeth. Or next game maybe T1 Hymn T2 Courser, etc. This is only achievable through good (also expensive) manabase.
EDIT: Seeing your signature (decks) i think you can put together good enough of a manabase:)
Against Narset, disrupt their mana ramp (strip the lands, discard or disenchant rocks) and go for early Doran. Dont overextend into Wraths (and your elves into Fire/Ice or such). Edicts are good, like Liliana of the Veil and Chainer's Edict, also Diabolic Edict (instant speed via Tainted Pact when Narset is hasted). I guess that if you can stick and protect Gaddock Teeg (via Mother of Runes, equips), it can be awesome, too. Council's Judgement, well placed Mana Tithe (against some 3cmc mana rock or Narset herself) and Armgaeddon. Card advantage like Phyrexian Arena early can be good, too, but i think for turn 2 i prefer Doran, since you have to kill him early.
hello, thanx for trying my list! Havent seen the championships. I think you can add that edict if voltrons are rampant in your meta. and mulligans a large part of winning, i mulligan aggresively, down to 5 good opening cards still win the game!
Against Narset I'd say it depends on the opponent's list. The more classic way I have seen is a kind of maelstrom wanderer, no counterspell build. In my opinion the easiest deck to beat because it has the combined weaknesses of geist + wanderer. Hence both anti-hexproof removal (toxic deluge, council's judgment, liliana being the best) and mana denial (geddon, wasteland) are great. Against the winning list the build is a bit more different, it looks more like a GAA/Nin/Ruhan build. Here I'd say the speed is a bit less important because there is no jokulhaups/upheaval shenanigans, and more removal and disruption. So I'd rather mulligan my elves/moxes and try to stick a threat while not exposing myself to wraths, and prevent my opponent to gain too much CA with discard (for exemple, I probably duress away a tutor/card draw spell over a counterspell).
About Doran vs Anafenza as a general, I still wonder which one I'd rather play in my next tournament. During the few testing I have had, I have found they are roughly equivalent in terms of damage output, the +1 counter often offsetting the -1 base power on Anafenza. I also find Doran slightly better against Wanderer, Marath and in the mirror. They are both bad against Prossh, but both shut down some kill conditions. I think in the end Anafenza is still preferable because she is so good against reanimator, it must feel good that for one time, the aggro general is a trump against what the opponent could be doing (like animar is against us). But I have not experienced this a lot yet, and I am still looking for opinions on the subject.
hello well aside from it being very pricey, it's hard to use, if they have removal for your threat, e.g. Doran, you'll definitely lose, specially if your opponent relies on the late game
it might work if you have lots of hand disruption though.
but I think geddon and ravages are enough as the 4 drop finishers.
anyway, thinking of removing skullclamp for and edict, and thinking of a card to replace Diabolic Intent... maybe another edict too, or a 2 cmc crit, but still don't know what
just came home from an 8-man 3 round cut to top 4 tourney. Finished 1-2. Lost to Mimeo and Prossh, won last round against Thrun.
I ended up cutting Intent for the Edict.
Still thinking about cutting the clamp though. I'm thinking that I almost always use clamp to draw for answers, and Intent goes straight to that answer.
Smallpox as usual is underwhelming.
12 teams, 3 person per team, duel commander. Teamed up with Sharky the Geist Player.
We were Geist, Doran and Wanderer. Finished 5th after 4 rounds, cut to Top 4 though.
MY matches went 1-3.
Lost to Thrax, Prossh and Wanderer. Won against Talrand.
i've been thinking what if I change Hymn to Appetite for Brains?
sure Hymn is powerful but without giving information on their hand, it's still a very random effect.
thinking of putting Despise in the 99 too, since aggro has been the meta here.
19 man tourney, 5 rounds, finished 10th
Rd1 win vs Oona, Rd2 loss vs Radha, Rd3 win vs Sigarda, Rd4 draw vs Narset, Rd5 loss vs Kaalia.
Haven't yet posted the last tourney report, will probably come along with this one, I don't know when though.
Removed Diabolic Edict for Despise, drawn it once against Radha and it looks promising. Still doubting Hymn in my build.
Sinkhole is fine, I personally don't own the card and not the card for me, but it's very good even late game draw
Anyway, joined an 8-man tourney yesterday, 4 rounds, ranking after Swiss. Finished 3rd.
Rd1 win vs GAAIV, Rd2 loss vs Mimeo, Rd3 win vs Sidisi (he had to go home early),Rd4 loss vs Marath.
Sorry haven't got the time to post tourney reports.
I'm thinking of trying Anafenza but I'm still weighing the pros and cons, or I might just end up trying a new card like Retribution of the Meek.
Personally I love Teeg and I still can't imagine my deck without. It's too great versus control
I tried running Anafenza earlier in a 4 round-8 man tourney and I won!
Rd1 draw vs Thrun (misplayed game 1 forgot Anafenza has flying); Rd2 win vs Marath because I went t1 dork, t2 Ana, t3 Linvala both games; Rd3 win vs Wanderer; Rd4 win vs Jhoira.
Damage output of the deck is massive and more spread out than Doran and I will join another tourney later.
Removals: I run Dismember, STP, T.Deluge, GffT,Abrupt Decay, Putrefy, Beast Within, Vindicate, CJ, O.Ring + LOTV + SOFAI.
I can't find myself removing O.Ring since it's tutorable with Enlightened and it can answer Emrakul, haha.
I tried Batterskull a long time ago, and imo it's only good when you can cheat it in play with SFM.
I still believe that if it's a 4 cmc or higher, it should be enough to win a game or gain massive CA like Ad Nauseam.
I'm thinking of evolving this thread eventually to Abzan Aggro-Disruption; Doran and Ana decks run almost the same cards but the play styles have slight differences, yes they're both aggro and disruption but Doran seems more voltronesque than Ana.
When i finally find the time to do it, I hope I give it justice.
I might change generals but still the siege continues!
I've never been fond of Vengevine toolbox in this kind of deck, it only shine versus slow decks which the deck already has a high percentage of winning against.
What made me try Ana was Oona's Blackguard because I love that card when I was playing casual standard in Lorwyn.
Added some tourney reports and changelog! 2 more reports to add next time
EDIT: Added the last 2 tourney reports! I'll start testing Anafenza more, and will likely work on how to evolve this thread into AGRRO DISRUPTION ABZAN!
EDIT: Ended up making a thread for Ana to avoid confusion in the future.
Mana Tithe has won me many games, it's just a matter of when to use it. Hope you find the spot for it in your 99 again.
I personally was on the wrong end of that Mana Tithe from Ninja's deck more than 2 times already. Although Sinkhole can make Mana Tithe more effective when you draw both at the opportune time.
I've seen an article in mothership(?) bout that variant, and concluded that doran will just be insane in that
Did not really paid attention, sorry imo, why play less if we're already playing 100 cards
*ehem* I posted the format (Tiny Leaders) in our Groups Page. Anyways, TL Doran and DC Doran are 2 completely different animals. Have fun brewing and playing.

I've read the linked before you posted it.
And as you've said their different because of the number of cards I'm still loving my 100 cards
