I am slowly building this deck right now, and was wondering what you guys think are the advantages/disadvantages of the slower lists vs the faster, low-curve aggressive lists.
I enjoy the more slower lists in terms of playstyle, but if it is not nearly as viable as the aggresive lists then I'd prefer to just go that direction.
The advantage of the faster list (Yu Song's list) is that you can lay down creature beats faster. This will help somehow against fast decks like elves (although they still ramp faster) and increases clocks against control based decks quickly since they won't be able to counter every thing. You don't need to worry about board wipes since it's actually in our favor. If opponent wraths the board and you have 4 creatures, surely they'll think twice in paying 12 lives or not (or choose which to die). Also, you don't have much big beaters in this type (like Divinity of Pride) and you tend to rely much on Athreos.
For slower builds (like mine) it plays like a midrange deck. We lack faster drops but the moment we gain momentum, it will be hard for the opponent to keep up. Will they want to kill your Reveillark and pay 3 life only to recur something or return it back to your hand and do it again (barring evoke)? The slower build also have big beaters like Divinity of Pride and graveyard tricks like cycle your Eternal Dragon and Twisted Abomination and then cast Victimize (if you have creature) to get them ready for action - and the sacrifice triggers Athreos. Wake the Dead is an excellent surprise too. The disadvantage is that we can get swarmed by faster aggro decks if we can't wrath on time. Also, control decks can somehow keep up with our threats unless we draw to lots of discard spells and effects.
