i think nevermore is good an any white deck, no matter what your playing or what there playing they have at least one good card to name or there general if nothing else. I would refrain on the other guy not sure how much impact he would have.
Have you considered burning earth? Its a bad blood moon.
It was in the originak deck list when I didn't have many non basics. Now I have a lot more than what was in that starting deck so I don't think I'll run Burning Earth. But I do agree that Nevermore is fantastic and needs to go in. I don't know if I want to wait until we see more of the new meta or not, mostly because I really know what to take out....
Hey everyone! I know it has been a while - took a break from these guys while I wanted to try Thalia, Guardian of Thraben out, but now they are back!
I plan on playing them this weekend and show off their new deck list and their new toys, aka Ravages of War.
As I mentioned in my original post, I have changed the deck a little bit to hopefully be a little faster and have the curve brought down a little bit. Some things in the deck are on trial at the moment, such as Gamble. I am really interested to see how it will do at the next event I go too!
Anyway, just wanted to mention that as a update. I'll hopefully have the match write ups within a few days of the event.
I can't believe I never noticed Rally the Righteous all this time (I've been playing Dauntless Onslaught in that spot). RtR seems mostly better (although perhaps not strictly better). I think i will make that change.

Jokes aside, I really like the updates you made to both your list and the post (like really sweet looking thread!!!). And good job on your level 1!
How has Militia's Pride been versus Goblin Assault. Obviously Militia's pride has a much higher potential, but Goblin Assault does not require the mana commitment or other creatures on the board to work. Another thought I had was Sunhome, Fortress of Legion. You're playing a decent amount of colored mana, and Sunhome is a pretty strong utility land (sad there's no enemy-colored man/womanlands).
I also feel that there's a couple stronger cards you can play in the place of Pyrokinesis. I've generally found Pyrokinesis pretty underwhelming - I think its really only viable in an elf heavy meta. I think Unexpectedly Absent, Chain Lighntning or Sword of Feast and Famine are just much better and more useful cards.

Militia's Pride has always been superbly fantastic for me. Every time I have played it, it has created a HUGE amount of board potential. Like, huge. Having the option to make 3-4 guys a turn is just awesome. Also since it is 2 cmc I get to play it before Anax and Cymede or before any of my 3 drops. Or I could have a 1 drop, play Militia's Pride turn 2, and then drop a 2 drop on turn 3 and start making my advantage.
Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion on the other hand seems like a very large mana investment when I'm actually trying to make this deck faster than it was. It effectively is saying "Pay 5: Target creature gains double strike." I'd rather be playing Balefire Liege or any of my 4 drops instead of activating it. I feel like it is just a waste of mana. /shrug
Also, about Pyrokinesis.. it has super secret tech. I can target one of the damages at Anax and Cymede and now everything is bigger and has trample!!! Pretty tech.
True, but Sunhome's effect doesnt really cost a card as you don't have to pay it and makes mana otherwise. Its kinda like a weaker Kessig Wolf-Run. Obviously, you're going to play a card over activating the Sunhome, but it gives you something to do when you run out of other plays. I think you could sneak it in your deck in place of a color-producing land and be fine.
I get the super-secret tech of Pyrokinesis, but I feel like at 6 mana, you're going to need to be discarding a card to use it, and it's other applications are still kinda meh. 2-for-1 yourself to lightning bolt and heroic is ok, but you have so many better options than that.

I can see your point about Sunhome, I just feel like every time I've ever used it I've always been underwhelmed because most of the time I'm playing cards out of my hand because it will have me gain more of an advantage. I might try it after the next tournament.
And with Pyrokinesis, I'm still a fan. It's gotten me out of a pinch many a time. It's nice to get rid of dorks or be able to alpha strike. I've never been let down by it.
No sunforger, I thhought that was the best equipment in Boros? Have you considered running a sun titan as a single 6 drop just to get your dudes back or a black/white sword to do the same function? Id almost recommend running one of the mono white Ajanis the 4 drop one seems good in your deck just for the counters or the new Chandra to play the top card of your deck since Boros has a hard time with drawing cards and keeping cards in hand

I think Pyrokinesis is a great card in the current meta. Deals with T2 Animar/Marath/Jenara nicely, while still allowing you to advance your own board state. I've been a fan myself.
As for the decklist, what made you take out Steelshaper's Gift? Being able to grab Skullclamp seems too important to omit in my opinion.

Sun Titan costs too much in my opinion for this deck. The only reason Balefire Liege is in at 5 is because it makes my Lightning Helix do 6 damage and I gain 6 life - it just has an enormous advantage while I feel like Sun Titan costs too much for the effect. I took out Sword of Light and Shadow because it "costs" 5, which I feel is too much for that effect.
Sadly I did take Sunforger out just because of the same reason: it's too slow. It effectively costs 8 to cast a spell from my deck, and feels like it doesn't do as much as Sword of Fire and Ice.
Mono white Ajani's don't feel necessary in this deck. I'd almost always choose to play another creature instead of him. New Chandra though? I really should consider it. Not only is her 0 ability good, her +1 has creatures not block.

For right now, I already have Stoneforge Mystic and Enlightened Tutor to find Skullclamp. On top of that, I'm going to test out Gamble for right now, just because it hits something that /isn't/ and equipment. If I need to find Blood Moon or Armageddon, it also gives me the option to do that as well.
I will agree that the deck has a lot of bad matchups, that being said I know the deck was an experiment because no one really had ventured into boros and I really wanted to try it out.
I still love the deck, and I still play the deck - that doesn't mean it is good. I can do well in certain match ups but other will just beat you unless you have a god hand. At the last tournament, I had such match ups.
I am excited to see the new god come out for Boros and I definitely plan on testing him because I love the colors and playing in the colors. But either way, it was a fun experiment and a fun deck to keep around.
Well I'm glad I found this thread, recently I decided on creating my own build of Anax and Cyme, so obviously coming across a thread like this is gold. Lots of good ideas mined so far…I'd like to make my own observations and share them.
Like for instance I agree like said earlier 5cc spells have to go or at least be infrequent (for this type of deck) one card I'd like to mention though is Curse of Bloodletting in theory it should let you drown a player in damage. One of the biggest problems I've noticed in EDH is players who are playing aggro using control cards in aggressive decks, aggressive decks want to kill not go back and forth with an opponent (since time is not on their side!).
Another observation is the overall speed of Boros as far as drawing into fresh cards, Skullclamp seems like a must as listed since the deck uses so may small creatures anyways. One approach I've thought about doing with an aggressive Boros deck to speed up card draw is Cantrips, lots of Cantrips, and fortunately many of the Cantripping spells in Boros colors are also spells that target your own creatures: Perfect for the Heroic mechanic.
Also there are a number of spells that target creatures that have scry as well, cards like Gods Willing, which targets and gives protection, perfect for a ground assault or anti-removal. The scry mechanic smooths out incoming draws (hopefully) pulling you into more gas.
@Dust Thanks so much for the input about the deck! It's nice to see what people are doing with it and how they have it built.
That being said, Anax and Cymede is a weird deck for aggro. You have to find a good balance between your creatures and your Heroic trigger spells. The issue I found with early versions of this deck was that I had waaayyyyy to many spells and not enough creatures. The goal isn't to cast a spell targeting Anax and Cymede every turn, it's to use it once or twice to kill your opponent as an overrun. So with the newer version, its more creature heavy instead of being spell heavy.
Skullclamp is fantastic in this deck. It's soooo goooooooood. I love card advantage. Also, I feel like cantrips are a good idea, but that being said, remember that this is an aggro deck and aggro decks need creatures to win - try not to focus on having all instants that target. If you don't have creatures, then it's kind of pointless to have all of those spells in your hand.

Thats right, the right creatures are a must, just as a fun project for myself I plan on using creatures with the Heroic ability many of them are cheap CC and have decent bonuses attached to them if your using lots of targeting spells, a good example is Arena Athlete, although I'll try the majority of them to see how they "feel". As I weed out the unimpressive Heros I'll fill those creature slots with more traditional aggressive creatures...maybe.
One thing I thought was a really interesting was the interactions you found with Pyrokinesis so I've been looking for other cards I could cast on A&C to similar interesting effect, two that might be worth mentioning are Stun & Embolden, Stun could do what the card intends or draw you a card on your turn while targeting a Hero, getting an effect, then attacking (not terrible for two mana), Embolden seems slightly scary with A&C as it has flashback and can trigger multiple Heroic abilities.
It's funny you mention Anax and Cymede as an overrun, thats the conclusion I came with it today thinking about it, it really is kinda of a strange commander with neat abilities and a good CC, fun times ahead!
