If you're running that heavy on the creature side I think Domri Rade should probably be an autoinclude. You're already starving for card draw which that will help with and your removal's pretty light, his fight ability helps shore that up. Plus, he's a 3 drop o.O
Another 2 cards that you might want to take a look at are Dryad Militant and Fleecemane Lion. The militant's good if you want a little more pressure early game, and getting rid of flashback stuff/snapcaster targets is pretty nice. The lion's a 3 drop for 2 that gets huge when you have a spare mana sink.
It seemed like in a lot of the matches you said you just weren't quite fast enough, so maybe taking a look at cutting the curve down a slice and running more of a zoo list might be something to consider? If that's a direction you think you could go than maybe Goyf could find a home as well.
I know slots are hard to find in these lists >.< A couple cards that I've always found just a tad too slow in an aggro match are the Mirror Entity, Ranger of Eos, and Gideon. I understand Gideon clearing the way for an alpha strike which is nice, but @ 5 mana it's kind of slow. Ranger's good, and a hand refill kinda, but it's almst always just getting Mother and then maybe Nacatl, it seems like that slot may be able to go to something a little stronger on it's own. And the Mirror entity was always a mana sink when I was dropping dudes and didn't want to tap for it. Late game it's nice if you happen to draw it, not have another threat in hand that you want to drop, and also have a bunch of 1/1's (Something I found pretty unlikely to happen in my experience)

If you build it right... And you can drop weenies and haste enablers. The problem would be a turn 5 drop (turn 3 if you're dropping dorks left and right). It just gives muscles but not the speed. It only has muscles and boost when attacks. Marath is like a Swiss Army knife which can do a lot of stuff in a race.

Man Acardus, that list is looking really solid. I'll have to play you sometime, I'd like to see how Skully is for this match up. Love what you're doing with the deck, this seems like a ton of fun to play.
Marath is definitely stronger than a lot of people realize imo. People are talking about Prossh and Derevi but I definitely think Marath can do some work in the meta.
Agreed. Now that I'm actually used to Derevi it's not quite as horrible. Still a tough match but definitely doable. Prosh, on the other hand... that card's just... stupid. lol.
But yeah, Marath allows for a hyper aggro zoo-esque list with an amazing utility general that gives it a lot more reach and flexibility. I love that Naya has a go to now for 1v1, it's sweet
@BbearZ: Marath has some annoying potential. Much better than Gahiji, Honored One because of its utility and its cost. Sooner or later someone will break him.
@Feverous: I haven't played against Derevi lately. I assume that it's evolved since the last time I played against him. Prossh is still hard. We just need something to keep him locked out. And thanks for the compliment. I have other version but the aggro is more challenging to face different decks. On the other hand, it's really fun to play.
As for my deck... I just realized that my deck isn't as fast... after facing Animar , I'm happy that I put back my Elesh again. She's so useful against him. On the other hand, I retweaked my deck again adding more spot removal.
For some reason, I really can't drop some of the cards for aggro version.

Note: Need to add pyroclasm against him. Glad that I decided to put Elesh back. The reason I won those two is because Elesh via Birthing Pod on Primetime via Natural Order on Dryad Arbor and the other is by mana screw.

Even though I haven't played the games, I love watching other Marath players do their thing. Some are using standard ramps and others are using Zoo.
I know that sooner or later, someone will use Elfball strategy (Darkent). It beat the standard Zoo ( T.Deck-Skilla's... with some pretty standard contents) but it can't beat Ever's Oloro (1-2) and Iname (2-3). It's close but it can't recover from *** and the new Toxic Deluge. On the other hand, I've seen T.Deck using Boros Charm for indestructible from his own Wrath of God.
Why no death touch? Marath loves nightshade peddler, basilisk collar, even Bow of nylea. 1 manna and 1 counter to destroy a creature yes please!

I should probably put my own list together as I find it to be quite different to the approaches I have seen here.
Nightshade Peddler is an interesting card choice to add... however I find it hard to replace any cards that's already utilize Marath (such as turn 0 land, turn 1 dorks, turn 2 disruptions, turn 3 tech, turn 4 beef or tech, turn 5 tech, turn 6 techbeef and turn 7 finale). If I want Soulbound, Lightning Mauler, Silverblade Paladin and Wolfir Silverheart (Stonewright is more for Radha).

IF you have enough mana... I wouldn't call it infinite.
But yes, it's because Marath doesn't have a clause "x, Remove X +1/+1 counters from Marath: Choose one — Put X +1/+1 counters on another target creature...." Removing one and targeting itself CAN create 2 +1/+1 counters.
@TGroHB: Champion of Lambholt is bit pricy to play. On turn 3 or 2, you either cast Marath or Champ. Let's assume that you want to drop Marath with 1 or 2 extra mana for access so you'll drop Champ on turn 3... would you drop her for 1/1? It feels weak against much more aggressive decks. I would rather drop cards like Boros Reckoner or even Eternal Witness. It can get bigger because of her ability but it can't do anything at that time.
I've been thinking about adding Bramblewood Paragon to avoid chumpblock all day long. It's a solid bear and can make use at least 2+ warrior in an aggro deck and the pumped counter creatures can do a lot of damage. The problem with it is which cards would you rather drop. In my case, I haven't found a spot for him.

Going to play some Marath later this weekend. Been watching a lot of Marath and they're fun as a spectator as well as being the player. So far, different Marath in a mirror match has the tendency for rockxpaperxscissors outcome but most of them managed to outdo Oloro.
I'm curious why he chose Flameblast Dragon? Maybe he needs to restrict the Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite because she cost 1cmc more? I wished someone asked him how the dragon perfrom.
I allready thought it would be not that easy to find a Spot for the Guys
But i dont only think on the Champion as a 1/1 Creature on Turn 3. I would rather think of it in the middle game or Lategame when the Opponent has enough Blockers and you Drop it and go Bonkers with putting x +1/+1 Counters form Marath or Pumping him with Kessig Wolf Run and Suddenly no Creatures with Power lets say 8 or lwaa can Block
It depends entirely on the race. Even if you drop her, it's still a 1/1. In addition on all the stuff that's been assemble throughout that 1 game, what about having her and not having enough stuff? Can she do it on her own while all the necessary stuff are still in your deck?
I have to say my Meta isnt Competive enough to compare so it will probably still go in my Deck along with the Bramblewood Paragon but your Points are completly understandable.

Voice of Resurgence and it count as double mana for Marath's ability. So turn 2 he's out and by turn 3, land drop and you cast Marath and you can do anything for 2 mana.
Is Duergar Hedge-Mage a Possibility or is it too weak eather? 2/2 with possibility to destroy an Artifact and an Enchantment seems pritty solid. Is the Mana Requirement doable?

Feels slow tbh and it's not every day that you can drop 2 of certain lands by turn 3-4. By then you'll be quite open to a lot of stuff. If you have them by turn 3, you're set.
That's fine... each player has a different take on how we build... we just make sure that we get the ups and downs on on certain cards. Say, Magus of the Moon is a bad card to some people but to me, it messed them up more than it does to me.
Laury on the other hand decided to drop Rev and skip the 5cmc... whereas most of the creature-based Marath players that I've talked to and watched used Rev endless (if they drew it).
Is Flameblast Dragon possibly a mis-transcribed Thundermaw Hellkite? Hellkite seems pretty good as a curve topper in an aggressive deck like that.
Also, what does everyone think about Sigil Captain? a 3/3 for is not ideal but perfectly workable. You can curve Marath, Captain, then 3 3/3s for 3 mana.
I'm the one who has 1-5 score with you (check your game replay with my Ikaoru acct). My list bit old and in need of an update because of the tourney results and thus a large spike of players interested with the winning deck which is a good time to test a lot of old and new decks on 'trice.
My current match ups are doing just fine but I haven't faced Prossh in a while... haven't change my decks and it still doing fine. Probably Prossh and Animar are my current problem right now regarding to the zoo deck (aka not using ramps and other variants).
So sure, we'll talk about it and play.... mmmaaayyybbeee next week because I have tons of tests to take so my gameplay is reduced dramatically 'till then. If you see me playing, expect a full match and not one of those 3+ straight games (minimum of one game).

Gaddock Teeg= useful against blue... stops MW
Combust= really useful against Animar or some other white decks.
Phyrexian Revoker= stops that annoying Deveri
Linvala, Keeper of Silence= stops mirror or elves or something

gbordes' still using good stuff (Aftershock, Wrath of God, Lignify, Oath and etc)... managed to get the upperhand against Prossh.

Basilisk Collar has been a consideration since day 1. The way I see it, it's a turn 1+ drop and a turn 2+ equip. Sadly, I find that it's not really useful unless you're focusing on ramps and rocks variation (it IS possible to build and performing quite well). For zoo variant, you need to drop every tech you get your hands on. Collar doesn't make the cut for me but //gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&name=+[sword">+[of]&subtype=+[%22Equipment%22]&text=+[protection]"]Swords, Skullclamp and Jitte do since they do a lot of stuff than collar.
IF you have enough mana... I wouldn't call it infinite.

Even with Birthing Pod, he definitely skipped the middle-5cmc-man (usually Reveillark).
He definitely maxed out the usual 1cmc dorks
I'm curious why he chose Flameblast Dragon? Maybe he needs to restrict the Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite because she cost 1cmc more? I wished someone asked him how the dragon perfrom.
Since he has 2 basics, it's understandable to drop Blood Moon and Magus of the Moon.
Glad that I'm not the only one using the fetchxdual package (aka 15 land slots filled).
So far, I haven't seen anyone using Ajani, Caller of the Pride on 'trice. Probably cheaper than Ajani Vengeant and more aggro oriented over control.
Maze of Ith... not sure about that.

It depends entirely on the race. Even if you drop her, it's still a 1/1. In addition on all the stuff that's been assemble throughout that 1 game, what about having her and not having enough stuff? Can she do it on her own while all the necessary stuff are still in your deck?

Voice of Resurgence and it count as double mana for Marath's ability. So turn 2 he's out and by turn 3, land drop and you cast Marath and you can do anything for 2 mana.
Feels slow tbh and it's not every day that you can drop 2 of certain lands by turn 3-4. By then you'll be quite open to a lot of stuff. If you have them by turn 3, you're set.

Laury on the other hand decided to drop Rev and skip the 5cmc... whereas most of the creature-based Marath players that I've talked to and watched used Rev endless (if they drew it).

Also, what does everyone think about Sigil Captain? a 3/3 for is not ideal but perfectly workable. You can curve Marath, Captain, then 3 3/3s for 3 mana.

My current match ups are doing just fine but I haven't faced Prossh in a while... haven't change my decks and it still doing fine. Probably Prossh and Animar are my current problem right now regarding to the zoo deck (aka not using ramps and other variants).
So sure, we'll talk about it and play.... mmmaaayyybbeee next week because I have tons of tests to take so my gameplay is reduced dramatically 'till then. If you see me playing, expect a full match and not one of those 3+ straight games (minimum of one game).
