Would you mind shedding some insight on how this list plays? My buddy just built a Thrun Duel Commander deck and when it explodes, it EXPLODES (Fastbond, Forest, Forest, Forest, Forest, Thrun, the Last Troll go? Turn 2 Swing, Hunter's Insight draw 4 go?) but when he dumps his hand aggressively and has no steroids (either didn't draw or they get removed/countered) he tends to grind to a halt and either gets through on virtue of Thrun being ridiculously hard to trade with or dies slowly.
What kind of hands do you keep and which are throwaways? Besides things like Harmonize, Hunter's Insight and the like, what can he do to draw more cards so that he doesn't run out of gas? Would running some other threats alongside Thrun work well? He has a Baloth Woodcrasher now as an example and... well Turn 6 taking a equipped thrun and a 8/8 trampler was not fun
Thanks!
Fastbond is not advised as you will most likely have no other plays than Thrun. Fastbond is much more playable in Sigarda because she has flying. Thrun has no evasion by himself and can be chumped for days. I only run 37-38 lands and when you get fastbond, you might not always get enough lands for it to be relevant. Do you mull until you get enough lands and hope you have action still? I don't think so. Even if you have action, it may very likely be mana dorks or more ramp which is not what you want.
Baloth Woodcrasher seems pretty bad. Why not Terra Stomper? I don't run that much land ramp in my Thrun build because dorks are cheaper and can be used with Natural Order. You also don't even fetches most of the time so the landfall can't even get there. I don't like to waste slots on vanilla fatties in my build.
He slows me down and bit and gets a scary Angelic Destiny on Geist turn 4, I handle it with Bramblecrush. He misplays a bit by Cyclonic Rifting my Snake Umbra instead of Thrun himself and wastes Supreme Verdict when I have regen mana up. GG.
I thought you had only one mana up when I wrathed, and was hoping to at least delay you long enough to draw a sword of feast and famine or a tutor for it.
The coughing fit I devolved into that game did not help my concentration though... nor did drawing dead.

Tantarus: It didn't make the gaka greifer level, so it should be fine
I agree with a lot of these except for Vow of Wildness and Fastbond.
First of all definitely include Prey upon and Scavenging Ooze.
Your worse match ups are decks like Krenko, Ezuri, and Animar. Prey Upon is a cheap solution to this.
Scavenging Ooze does so much against so many decks. It prevents gy strategies, gets big, and gains you life. You need it.
Keep Vow of Wildness. While O'Naginata and Rancor are just better. Vow can act as a Pacifism (sort of). It hasn't been relevant but it works. Vow is also a very good card against Doran. Rancor and O'Naginata sucked against Doran. Big time. Vow however was amazing. That's the reason why I use it. There is no other 3 mana aura that gives evasion (trample) and a decent +3/+3
Don't add Fastbond. It is better in decks like Sigarda. Sigarda has it's own evasion and with white, they have so many more options. Thrun however cannot use fastbond effectively because it just gets chumped. Most of the time you won't have 4 land hands. If you mull for Fastbond, you lose too much CA. Only THrun alone is very underwhelming.
Cut Savage Summoning. Uh... Thrun is uncounterable. You are worried about your auras/equips/disruption to resolve most of the time. Savage Summoning seems like a card that does nothing most of the time.
Cut Uproot. Its 4 CMC.... You can't have too many 4 CMC cards competing with Thrun. Fallow Earth works because you can go. T1 Elf. T2 Fallow Earth. T3 Thrun. Uproot cannot be played effectively and definitely cannot be played imo.
Cut Vorrac Battlehorns. It's too situational. Might as well use Kitesail since it helps with fliers and gives evasion.
Add in Natural Order and Primeval Titan. Prime Time into Rogue's Passage, Mouth of Ronom, Wasteland, Rishardan Port seem pretty good.
Cut Recollect. Too expensive. Regrowth and Eternal Witness are fine. I guess. Witness can carry a sword and get Natural Ordered. I don't really like return graveyard cards. Most of the time, you really just want establish Thrun/Disrupt them. Once you get there, you usually have already won. I have gotten hands with only lands, ramp, and Eternal Witness. Those hands were just terrible.
Desert Twister and Rain of Thorns are really expensive. You really want to get established before you get 6 mana.
Take out Krosan Grip for Seal of Primordium. Three mana is just too much. Take both if you want. Enchantments and Artifacts like Oath of Druids and Sword of Feast and Famine really just beat this deck.
Ptaq, here's a few reasons why seal of primordium is worth running:
-You pay for it early and save mana for later, so instead of spending a turn answering a threat, you can keep doing what you want to be doing with no tempo loss.
-Despite your opponent seeing it coming, it gives you more information about what's in their hand. For ex: Your playing against geist as thrun, he cast's a runechanter's pike when you have seal of primordium on the board. Why would he do that? He has a sword of feast and famine in hand, or a way to tutor for it.
-Because it often comes down early, it can slip by a lot of counters.
I might have messed up. I'm not done revamping the first post yet. lol
I don't like Brutalizer. It's too expensive. I used to use him but he just doesn't do enough for me. A 6 mana tutor is very expensive. Summoner's Pact is just better. His Tuck is meh. Primal Command is simply better and does way more. A 3/3 vanilla creature is not what you want.

I chose not to play mana dorks and am instead running the land searchers. Even with all the elves and wild growth etc. it is not super consistent at getting three mana on turn 2 and give your accelerants a vulnerability to sweepers like pyroclasm and fall out and having mana to regenerate thrun is important. Going from two to four is in my opinion more important and easier to do and when you don't have turn three thrun which most often you do you will likely have a stone rain effect. Enchantment artifact hate is good in most matchups since mana rocks and equipment not to mention oath are all quite popular. The focus should be stick a thrun and ride him the mana dorks while good can set you back and draw removal which we don't need to draw out since our general is so resilient.

I don't think I would ever take Krosan Grip in any of my green decks. Split Second is one of the strongest effects in the game, and I have had many games where I could of won if my Naturalize effect had been Krosan Grip instead. I'm not trying to say Seal of the Primordium or Nature's Claim are bad (in fact I'd play both K-grip and Nature's Claim in Thrun), but rather that there is a very good reason Krosan Grip is preferred in Legacy and Modern.

Just my thoughts
Are you that worried about Pyroclasm? You really shouldn't be. I really disgree with this list. It's too slow imo. When you play Doran and Jenura, they will have plays like turn 1 dork and t2 commander. If you play this list against something like that, you will just get beat before Thrun does anything.

I actually agree with you but given my meta game lacks these more aggressive generals and my lisit provides more midrange staying power. If things became more aggressive and there were more aggressive generals as opposed to controlling uw Ones midrange decks and things like wanderer I would see the swap to mana dork being more reasonable for me. The number of three drops you're likely to see in your opening hand and want to play on two statistically is also highly relevant.
Or im noob or this new enchant will be so op in Thrun???
Well Thrun comes out T3 preferably. You put this on T4 and you get him +1/1 every turn if he attacks? And then you HAVE to sac it for a free T6 Ranger's Path assuming he attacks every turn and no counters are lost from the aura?
Eh. I think it's really bad. lol. You can try out tho.
You cant count that so simply This deck is voltron not Doran Here you have 20+ cards who will bust Thrun stats for one turn or longer So troll clock is not so easy to forecast
Not like in Doran where you have only few bust : Sword , Jitte , Elspeth , Paladin So you cant count it to general clock
Oh my mistake. It adds counters on Thrun. Well It's still a two mana aura that does nothing when it hits the field. It takes 3 turns to get 3 counters. I don't see why this is good. Like TS said, even if it gets you a three turn general kill, that's assuming Thrun won't be chump blocked. Why not Ring of Kalonia then? That seems strictly better imo.
These are old matches that I only recorded the result. The only match ups I remember was Godo where he consistently got Basalt Monolith or Grim Monolith into Godo into SoFaF.
Game 2
He plays Avacyn's Pilgrim into Jenura into Glen Elendra Archmage and Mother of Runes. My plays were BoP into T3 Thrun. For my 4th turn I misplay and waste his Glen Elendra counter on Spider Umbra while playing Loxodon Warhammer . He plays Gaea's Cradle with Phryexian Metamorph copying my Warhammer and puts it onto Jenura. That's game.
Game 3
I start off with Elf into Wild growth and Boreal Druid and Lignify his Noble Hierarch. I then Primal Command his only land search for Prime Time. I play Prime Time next turn which he metamorphs the next turn after searching for it. He attempts to stabilize with his Prime Time but it is too much.

I don't think MGA for Thrun. The reason why Ezuri works as mono green aggro is because its fast and consistent. It swarms before a lot of decks can stabilize.
Sacrificing the extra reach other aggro decks use and not using Thrun's hexproof/uncountable trollness is something I'm not a fan of. Mono Green Aggro Thrun just seems like a bunch of fatties that don't affect the board state unless they are allowed to turn sideways.
But let me know how you do with your list. I would like to see how mono green aggro works out in DC.
With that being said, I don't think there is anything in Theros for the troll.
Theros Maybes:
-Nylea is a 4 drop 6/6 with no trample for herself. Thrun gets trample but needs to get pumped with it. It also contends for Thrun's 4 drop slot and that's that what we want. The format is also swarming with exile and counters. Nylea seems better as a commander than helping out the troll.
-The Bow- People will be chumping Thrun if we don't give him evasion. The Bow doesn't give him Evasion. It gives us a bunch of irrelevant things that are cute but not great. I wish it affected target player's graveyard instead. Then it might be usable since I'm always looking for good graveyard hate.
-Boon Satyr - 4/2 Flash for three is value but it's just another creature. Bestow is too expensive.
This is what I am running for the tournament, its not optimized because I had to send in a deck code asap since I was late
It's a little different from the list on the first page but it's getting the job done. Theros gave us nothing and I hope Born of the Gods
is not the same
Provoke looks very good! I will probably test it. With Natural Order banned, I think I might take out Tdon and S Prime and maybe even Prime Time. This actually hits us pretty hard.
I would cut Savage Summoning, Predator's Strike, Vorrac Battlehorns, Dragon Fangs, Tiger Claws, Vow of Wildness, Excecutioner's Hood, Uproot, and Boar Umbra. You have a lot more trample than you're gonna need, and cards like O-Naginta and Rancor are reusable and better than a lot of your other auras or pumps. I'm also surprised to see no Fastbond or Scavenging Ooze. I would also suggest some more targeted removal like Prey Upon, to help you deal with problem creatures.
