Spending your FAFSA money on Magic cards? Isn't that a little risky, since that money is supposed to be used for school expenses? I presume you've already accounted for your school expenses, so this is some leftover money.
Of course. School expenses come first as one would expect. Last term when I purchased my math book, it was good for my course and the next two classes in the sequence. Since I am in math again, that is an expense I can save on this term. And, I'm getting involved in workstudy as a math tutour so that helps as well.
Maybe I'll even be...*puts on shades*...a Grim Tutor. >____>
@the rebuilding deck- could you also post a 'dream' or 'final' build please?
It is fairly close to the current rebuild (I plan to keep Confidant in there all the time, lol). Although it's gonna be hell to add the last few cards lol. (Probably wind up replacing a couple fatties towards the end. Maybe A-Fury too but I hope not...)
Maybe I'll even be...*puts on shades*...a Grim Tutor. >____>
At its current price of around $200, one Magic card buys a few college textbooks (maybe even only one book if it's a STEM book!) or a few credit-hours. I guess "paying college off by selling my old Magic collection" has some truth to it!

Indeed it does - Magic has grown expensive in today's age!
While it's true that it has a relevant typeline and a pair of abilities we can appreciate, and I did have my eye on it as it was first revealed - the fact remains that we can't control which ability we will get. And if we can't control it...then why are we playing it? Bottom line, as ajprokos stated, it is too unreliable.
Speaking of Will of the Council though, there is another card we could (read: should IMHO). Council's Judgment. I saw that thing on MODO last night. Card is amazing.
I'm also intrigued by Act of Authority, though it's likely it isn't for this deck.

It is one way to get rid of diving top basically a 3cmc sorcery speed exile perm. Best part is in multiplayer, no one can vote on any of your stuff. But in 1v1, it will just be 1 perm of your choice (granted they choose what you chose).

If they don't, then you exile two permanents ("exile which one has the most votes or is tied for most votes"). So either way we will hit what we need to.
Have you every considered Orim's Chant or Silence? as a way protect Kaalia before you cast her or to protect her before you attack? Just curious I am building a Kaalia deck and in my early build I have it in there. I am thinking of swapping them out for Swiftfoot boots or Lightning Greaves or even sword of Fire and Ice as I have one.

Orim’s Thunder- I actually get a lot of flak for this one, but I would much rather cast a Return to Dust any day of the week than an Orim’s Thunder. Even if I just exiled two mana rocks(which is a good tempo move anyway), I’ve found Return to Dust to just be the stronger two-for-one anyway. As of 2/7/13 I would actually like to slot this card in, but I can't quite fit it in over any other card I have -- I just have slightly better options for this slot.
Also, note that it is in every other build (budget, demon, angel).
Correct on the swiftfoot boots and the Lightning greaves and I have replaced them I knew they were in the list I just hadn't put them in mine. However Orim's Thunder and Orim's Chant are different cards. I thought that in Multiplayer especially they might be good to play before casting Kaalia because an opponent would have to counter an Orim's chant or a Silence before they could counter Kaalia. I suppose if one wanted to run both equipments and the silence effects one could that way one could play the equipments, Silence opponents cast Kaalia, equip Kaalia swing drop a fattie.
It's just a different form of disruption, one could also use the card to stop an opponent from playing spells on his/her turn.

sorry for the mix up. I feel Aurelia's Fury is stronger due to the ability of getting a free attack in. It can also kill creatures.
Yea, Orim's Thunder was "pushed out" officially with the printing of Wear/Tear - it's just not quite good enough to make the cut nowadays. Although SoFaI isn't part of the deck. Our objective here is to create a board state where we can attack safely, and repeatedly without hindrance. To this end, Swords do not help with this strategy - they only give bonuses to when I am able to break through already. This makes them #WinMore and therefore are non-essential.
O-Chant, on the other hand, has never been in this deck (I've never owned one, heh).

Hi. Great card to discuss!
I don't think I would play O-Chant, no. If we need to push Kaalia through a counter wall, better to use Cavern of Souls. Further Trying to hold this up while playing Kaalia on the same turn just delays our overall gameplan. And thirdly, if she doesn't have Haste, the Chant was useless since they'll be able to untap and play whatever sorcery-speed removal on her. Better to go with Grand Abolisher instead. If you must use something like this, might I suggest Red Elemental Blast and Pyroblast? These win counter wars and can stop other spells that we'd rather not see as well (I've countered many-a Jace, the Mind Sculptors with them on MODO).
No worries ajprokos I can see where fury would be better.
3drinks I see your point on cavern of souls I forgot it existed (took a break from magic during that set, actually from right after the first Ravnica set to the next one here. Missed some good stuff.)
My current list looks like a budget list with its creatures but features some great supporting cards like Mana Crypt and Thoughtseize. I'm just building it as I go and luckily I had some older staples to put in. Overall I love the idea of this deck. What do you think of Whip of Erebos? I really like it because I find lifelink relevant plus the second ability to fling something at an opponent from the graveyard seems pretty cool. Take it with a grain of salt my meta is not uber competitive.

Take careful note of Mana Crypt - I find that the extra colourless isn't as helpful (we sometimes "waste" the colourless because we have a lot of tight colour requirements) as it would seem (I'm doing a similar thing with Ancient Tomb since I don't own a Crypt). Right now I believe Tomb will get the axe as I suspect Crypt should get an axe from your list as well.
I don't think the Whip is very good (for us here) because, ideally, we don't play very many critters so you're playing it mostly for the lifelink - at which point Vault of the Archangel is better.
I run Vault of the Archangel as well and I am thinking of selling my Crypt anyway. I also have an Archangel of Thune because I pulled one from a pack Its ability with Lifelink is pretty cool though I realize she isn't in many lists, I lack a Baneslayer at the moment. At any rate I am really enjoying tuning this deck.

Cool. I think you could find a place for both Baneslayer and Thune.
I probably wouldn't sell the Crypt, it's pretty hard to acquire. You don't have another deck it'll work in?
I do money's just tight. At any rate the nice thing about this deck is that I had plenty cards to start with. I actually traded for the Kaalia a month or so ago which got me started down this road. I have to say it is a nice road to go down. Hopefully M15 new sets bring other cool stuff. FOr now I'll find some budget money for Avacyn, Rune-Scarred, Iona, Thundermaw hellkite and so on. Right now I have both Akroma's maindecked and even a volcanic dragon $200 Mana Crypt in a $200 deck lol

I can certainly understand that. I'd just be sure you're absolutely OK with selling Crypt because of how hard it would be to reacquire (make sure you won't miss it).
The one thing I love about this commander is that, we will always get more toys to play with. Angels, Demons, & Dragons - these are all of the most popular tribes Wizards likes to print. (Although I feel like Kaalia's existence has altered the way they would produce those tribes now).

not worth it at all. Allowing choices is very problematic. It destroys Kaalia pretty much 99% of the time.
