So I wanted a thread to discuss sea monster EDH strategies. And questions in general.
For anyone else playing this deck, is Stormtide Leviathan losing favor with anyone? The fact it restricts my own sea monsters while not protecting against fliers is becoming a bit troublesome. I keep it because it locks down or stalls out threats like Eldrazi or Blightsteel, etc. But I often find myself resenting this card in play, even as an unblockable 8/8. But there's nothing more beautiful than casting a Scourge of Fleets with him in play.
I am so divided on this card for this theme. Thoughts?
I have a friend who runs it in a Maelstrom Wanderer deck with 12 flyers/islandwalkers. It's one of his most annoying card and can save him in desperate situations.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
I also have a War Barge lying in the deck to help out with the other creatures. If running this card don't forget Merfolk Assassin and that you can target your opponent's creatures in response to it being destroyed.
I play a sea monster deck in EDH, and I definitely still play Stormtide Leviathan. It generally becomes a must-kill for the board, and I can set up lines of play for if it gets removed.

Although 8/8 evasion is good anyway, plus you have Inkwell Leviathan, Harbor Serpent, Segovian Leviathan ? to play into a board with the Stormtide as well.
There's also islands matter good stuff like Vedalken Shackles and Mystic Sanctuary.
