Ok hey everyone I'm building a deck with atraxa as my commander. I want it to be a deck that is "nice" to everyone and it isn't group hug because it isn't supposed to help me more then everyone else I have no intent on winning with the deck I only want to make the game more fun and interesting for everyone so if you could show some cards that would do that, it would be great thaks.
The obvious thing for Atraxa group hug EDH is putting +1/+1 counters on opposing creatures. Aku Djinn and Erithizon spring to mind, but Wall of Shards can also be interesting.
no no no group hug makes it so it helps people but it helps you more what my deck will do is make the game more interesting with effects that effect everyone
what my deck will do is make the game more interesting with effects that effect everyone
...that's group hug. A deck that helps itself more is just pretending to be group hug.
yep.
Is there a reason you want to run atraxa over kynaios and tiro of meletis? I know they aren't perfectly symmetrical, but they're a lot closer than atraxa.
It's also worth noting that many people don't like playing against group hug, especially the "I have no intention of winning" version. So if your goal is to make the game enjoyable, you might be doing the wrong thing. I think the game is most enjoyable when everyone is trying to win, and crazy things happen because of that goal. In which case, I'd focus on running cards that make crazy things happen WHILE making at least a token effort to win. Like, idk, Plague of vermin maybe? That card is hilarious. Or Goblin Game. Some of the voting cards are fun, too. In general cards that give your opponents choices are fun.
Just letting everyone draw a billion cards off font of mythos isn't fun at all, imo. It just tosses most strategy out the window and makes careful deck construction a waste of time because CA becomes meaningless. And I don't think that's a minority opinion.
Do you mean you want to play cards that affect the board state, make it more complex, without being group hug? In Atraxa colors you have punisher discard effects in black Polluted Bonds, taxing effects in white like Aura of Silence, blue has plenty of taxing controlling effects like Aura Flux and Arcane Laboratory, blue also has fun for you effects like Mind's Dilation and Dismiss Into Dream.
What you really want I think is red though with cards like Possibility Storm, red has some of the best game affecting effects.
I dunno about making it group hug but I went for a different approach to Atraxa than everyone else. I ignore the proliferate.
Without Proliferate Atraxa is a 4/4 flying Lifelink, Vigilance and deathtouch for 4 (WUBG)
This give you access to pretty much EVERY tutor in the game (There are I think like, 2 in red?)
So what do you do with all these tutors? Well you have options. I did a voltron build. White and black allowed me to find equipment i needed where as Blue allowed me to find the tutors i wanted (Or in artifact search blue, find the equipment) and green had worldly tutor and Tooth and nail. Where i go search for some game enders, or something that will allow me to bring back my tutors (Eternal witness for example)
so how is this nicer? Well it sis not your typical Atraxa deck, so instead of building atraxa as a nice general, how about building atraxa as a different general? Sure you could proliferate, maybe even keep an infect subtheme (Secondary wincon). People forget Atraxa has more than just proliferate.

Ditto for my Atraxa deck. Even if you completely ignore her triggered ability, she's still a strong commander. My Atraxa deck is enchantress-curses, and the only cards that produce counters are The Eldest Reborn (proliferating it gets me to chapter three one turn sooner), Phyrexian Scriptures (it creates a +1/+1 counter on a single creature, and gets me to chapter three one turn sooner), Curse of Vengeance (does literally nothing until the enchanted player loses), Curse of Predation (creates +1/+1 counters on any creature that's worth attacking with), and Opal Palace (puts +1/+1 counters on Atraxa).
I like how the OP posted about how he wants a deck with the goal of making the game interesting - with atraxa presumably as an afterthought in the command zone - and people latched onto atraxa and started sharing deck ideas that have nothing to do with what the OP wanted to build, other than playing atraxa.
Also I think there's a strong chance the OP won't find this thread again, having been gone from sally for a week, and the thread having been moved.
