He's a pretty recent printing but damn do I always enjoy seeing Gonti, Lord of Luxury. I really like this version of the effect. I'll be honest, when WotC first announced that the WUB Precon this year was going to have a "top of library matters" theme I immediately got my hopes up that there would be an Esper legendary creature that just Gonti's everyone's top card (but also lets you play exiled lands so they're not total misses). That's actually probably my biggest wish right now but it obviously won't happen soon since we're on Ravnica again for 3 damn sets. Here's hoping for next years Precons I guess.
It has given me MANY wins and losses with my Nekusar combodeck.
Play a Mana Geyser, do you thing, end with Final Fortune and continue.
Sometimes you need it to take a turn before the next player untap.

I love these two aswell, though I only play Last Chance since it's a bit easier to use from the grave, when you have both Past in Flames and Recoup. Ditch it early to looting effect, use it later when needed.
I really love Tornado. Sweetest green removal there is, and it only gets better with Power Conduit. Durdle much!
One day, i aim to kill at least 1 player with either of them. Last laugh moreso. 'Tis a bit like "sac half my permanents, attack with rakdos the defiler, hit you, then you sac tonnes of your stuff, then last laugh triggers. har har"
I had a combo win with kaervek's spite, saccing academy rector and barren glory at the beginning of my turn in a (very) janky tier 5 legacy deck. never tried it in edh though, but i imagine it'd fit in too.
Man, this thread already makes me painfully aware of how my definition of fun diverges from the "norm".
(snip)
I also dig some of the high-skill cards like fact or fiction and intuition. Really wish gifts was unbanned (or at least I think I do).
I agree with that opening statement so much.
Regarding Intuition and Gifts, I have mixed feelings.
Commander is not a balanced format, so I would agree that it doesn't make sense to have one banned and not the other. I certainly miss using my Gifts, as it has been one of my favorite cards since it was printed. I do not know why it took other people so long to understand that it was essentially a demonic tutor for four cards for four mana. Even 2004 was a world with Yawg-will and other graveyard recursion.
Intuition and Gifts are both cards which should win you the game upon resolution. In my Mizzix deck, I often just get Mystic Retrival, Runic Repitition and Time Warp. No matter what you give me, I will loop infinite turns and win. There are other combinations with Recoup, Past in Flames, Yawg-will and so forth.
When Gifts was still legal, I had games where I would go turn 1 sol ring and turn 2 "end of turn Gifts" into graveyard reanimate combos an just win on my third turn, because it simply doesn't matter what you give me. If I can protect my graveyard from exile, it is game over, and the same is true for Inuition.
A couple other example piles are: 1)Cabal Therapy + Uburial Rites + Academy Rector. No matter what you are given, you will be able to reanimate and sacrifice the Rector for Omnicience, which you should be able to win off of.
2) Snapcaster + Yawgmoth's Will + Doomsday, then pilot a Doomsday pile.
That is why I do not think it is THAT skill intensive.
A total scrub doesn't know what to do or when to cast it, so it does take a modicum of skill, but any research into it and should be fine.
Honestly, that kind of stuff is what I love most about this game.

While Intuition is a strong card, Gifts is by far the stronger of the two. And the downside that was built into Gifts (the cards you get must have different names) simply doesn't exist in this format.
Been really digging a lot of the flip cards, especially the land ones from ixalan. I like cards that create a sort of minigame around them.
I also dig some of the high-skill cards like fact or fiction and intuition. Really wish gifts was unbanned (or at least I think I do).
Agree with flip card assessment. A couple of hoops to jump through isn't the worst thing in the world, and transform is a cool, fun mechanic. Some are better than others, but the Ixalan ones were fantastic, and the flip-walkers from Origins are great, too. Special shout out to Nissa from me.
I really agree with the 'high-skill' cards, too, although I think 'difficult choice' cards fits better. Fact or Fiction is great because it presents an opportunity for the caster to gain advantage, but also an opportunity for the opponent to deny said advantage, IF he or she chooses well enough. An interesting variant of this that I've known about for a while but only seen in action recently is Choice of Damnations. It wasn't cast on me, but it really took a few minutes of head-scratching for me to assess how I would've answered it, and I'm not sure I had it right. That's what cool about these cards - the best answer is totally open to interpretation.
Intuition and Gifts are both cards which should win you the game upon resolution.
While they can be built that way, I think there is lots of space to play with them fairly, and that's where the skill comes in. If you're just fetching the same 3/4 pieces every time then they aren't skill-intensive or fun imo (from a play perspective, probably fun for building).
All the equip synergy is in GW for some godforsaken reason...still annoyed about that.
What equip synergy is there in Green?
primarily whining about nazahn - he definitely reads as W or RW. Absolutely not WG. Also a little annoyed about balan, wandering knight. He makes total sense in mono-white, but there are already plenty of mono-white equipment synergy commanders and I suspect he might have been RW if he didn't have to fit into the GW cat precon. And his ability would have been REALLY cool in RW - in mono-white he's pretty meh.
I really agree with the 'high-skill' cards, too, although I think 'difficult choice' cards fits better.
I think the defining attribute of those sorts of cards is the large number of options available. A simple FoF gives you 16 different options (by my calculations). Gifts/intuition aren't as complicated for the recipient but can require skill from the player casting them. Choice of damnations is hilarious, but unfortunately it's also rather bad.
Recross the Paths. It puts any land into play untapped. I use it in my Mayael deck which has a high average cmc, so I often win clashes. I usually cast it 2 or 3 times before I lose a clash. I can also stack my deck with Mirri's Guile or Sylvan Library to ensure I win a clash.
Selvala's Stampede. Absolutely insane in multiplayer and you almost always get your mana's worth. Heck, sometimes you hit the jackpot with this thing. Plus it gives opponent's choices so they feel like they're contributing, and also has that wildcard surprise factor.
I would have to say that my favorite card to play in EDH is a kicked Rite of Replication. There are so many creatures that you can copy where getting 5 copies is just insane value but not so insane as to be an auto-win.

Good choice. The high-value options are practically endless, and the potential hilarity is also quite high.

Great story about Stampede in My Scion Deck, Game had gone long, had a few boardwipes..I have Stampede in hand card in hand and a Divining Top, I spin the top..see nothing great, rearrange my cards. Flip top on top to draw a useless card I can't free in.
I cast Stampede, name Wild..everyone else names Wild and for a few minutes my opponents discuss if they just all 3 want to name Free, eventually they come to the conclusion that I have Dragon Tempest, Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund or Sarkhan the Mad in hand, and Nicol Bolas in the top 3 so all of them name wild so I can't swing.
Bribery is like a white elephant gift at Christmas. Hope you choose the right player! And hopefully its something good! Like an Eldrazi! And the reactions from other players is always amusing. Some people don't say a word and immediately go to pokerface.exe.
Telemin Performance in kind of the same way, but even more absurd randomness with the occasional super mill to combo or control player.
Gather Specimens is awful in that you need to keep up 6 mana, but can offer some incredible (and hilarious) swings. For example, the Selvala's Stampede player, or Rite of Replication kicked player. Terastadon can be just backbreaking. I'll take your Terastadon, destroy three of your permanents, and take the elephant tokens, too.

Well GW gives you access to Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith and Sigarda, Host of Herons. These two are great reasons to play with an equipment theme in GW.
Additionally the Cat matters equip cards such as Raksha Golden Cub could benefit from the strong cats that green offers (Qasali Pridemage, Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist, Arahbo, Roar of the World)
A lot of great ideas have been shared in this thread. Thanks to all who shared your experiences. Keep them coming guys!
Esper - Sydri - Alternate take on the Artifacts meta
Orzhov - Regna and Krav - Tokens and Lifegain and +1/+1 counters
Mono Green - Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar - Land Matters
