A search for Misdirection didn't really turn up much recent or relevant, so I thought I'd start a new thread.
I'm wondering what the juiciest possible Misdirection targets might be that you actually run across fairly frequently in your meta. I don't specifically mean cards you find yourself Misdirecting, as it seems Misdirection is a relatively little-played card, but cards that you see pretty often that, if you stopped to think about it, would be awesome to Misdirect and might even blow out the game.
I'm debating the merit of running it in a reactive blue-based deck, but I also just think this is a fun thought experiment. Looking forward to your replies.
Someone actually used Channel\Disintegrate in a 3-person 60 card game recently to stop someone else from winning via a tricked-in Blightsteel. I won the game ultimately because I was not the target. I will say Deflecting Palm has killed more than one person in my group by sending a powered up killbot back at the owner. Fun stuff.
And while Channel is banned in this format, there are about a billion-jillion ways to generate similar mana. Misdirect seems a pretty good toolbox card no one will see coming.
Surprisingly low amounts of cards in my meta that this would even be good for. There's the Beacon cycle, a couple of cards in the Zenith cycle, one person plays Clone Legion, and a couple of extra turn spells (most of which don't target). I'm typically the one playing Beacons and Zenith's though.
I like the card a LOT more when you are playing a commander who brings a lot of heat their way like say Brago, King Eternal or Edric, Spymaster of Trest where its a very high chance that spot removal will be coming your way.
Obviously there are the options of redirecting a Time Stretch / Time Warp but I think ultimately the reason I would run Misdirection would be based upon spot removal and the expectation to be the recipient of it.
