My playgroup has gotten wise to my Cabal Coffers and/or Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth shenanigans in my mono black list. I'm thinking of slotting in Crucible of Worlds as they frequently are the target of removal. However it's not enough of a reason to include it, so I'm trying to put together a small Crucible package to take advantage of it.
I am already running the following cards that have some synergy with Crucible:
But I don't consider it enough to warrant Crucible's inclusion. Does anyone have any suggestions for cards that interact with Crucible in mono black? The only things I am not interested in are fetches (off colour fetches bug me), and strip mine effects (playgroup is not that cutthroat).
Only card I've come up with so far is Lake of the Dead. I've never played with the card, looks to be very powerful initially then become weaker in the long term without a way to make additional land drops? Even still, not really enough cards to make me think Crucible is worth it. I feel like it would often not do anything.
Yeah, I guess I understand if you don't like off color fetches, but Strip mine and company are definitely needed at times. No one said you had to abuse it, but it gives you an out to others shenanigans.
Also be careful with how many non swamps you include if you rely heavily on Cabal. You may be tutoring that one up frequently, but can't always count on Urborg.
Ultimately if you are just using it for an emergency Cabal Coffers rez, my suggestion is actually to use Yawgmoth's Will instead of Crucible of Worlds because it can function the same but unless you have a LOT of synergy with the card such as really high priority targets + proactive use plans I think I would be hesitant.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Might not be a Yawgmoth's Will, but Grim Discovery is amazingly mana-efficent and the other mode is nearly impossible to be of no use in a mono-B deck.
I can only speak for myself, but Grim Discovery and Fortuitous Find are heavily underplayed.
Spellshapers are generally a good option, since you're just moving a land from Hand 1.0 to Hand 2.0
Bog Witch: Really good option. Cackling Witch: Must have for Voltron. Divining Witch: Just no. Not ever. This <hc bailey>will kiiiiiill youuuu</hc bailey> Greel, Mind Raker: A meta call. He's often too slow to deal with combo but great against control. Instigator: Another fun one for Voltron until you give your commander evasion abilities. Notorious Assassin: Must use. Plague Witch: A bit weak. Ridged Kusite: Also a bit weak. Skirk Ridge Exhumer: I'm generally not a fan of the creature spellshapers. The best one, Llanowar Mentor, is still too slow for this format. Toymaker: I only mention this one to screw over affinity players. Undertaker: And now you've got recursion with your recursion. Urborg Syphon-Mage: At least it says "each".

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Unless you are running self mill of some sort or off color fetches crucible isn't worth it in mono-black. Even with off color fetches and a few other targets it can end up being a dead card sometimes.

Rings works well because many red artifact commanders have activated abilities but I'm sure you can shoehorn this anywhere.
