Do you have two decks that use the same commander but are very much different?
- Atraxa, Praetors' Voice: Planeswalkers and Infect
- Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim: Tokens and Combo/Reanimate
I have also seen people use the same deck with a different commander. And it isn't for the colors.
Same dragon deck but will swap back and forth between Scion of the Ur-Dragon and The Ur-Dragon
At one point I was using an "Ayli" deck that was built around tokens, sacking, and planeswalkers and have 4 viable commanders: ayli, gco, teysa 1.0, and tymna+ravos. I think Ayli was the strongest option though from my experience.
I guess I technically had the same commander for 2 decks: yisan, the wanderer bard. One was a toolboxy sort of deck, the other was just trying to see how quickly and reliably I could pull off my dumb combo win, which I only played in a few 1v1 games iirc. All the other times I've revisited a commander - phelddagrif, glissa, zirilan, kaervek - have had roughly the same idea as the first time, just better refined. Zirilan there's some relatively small variations - whether or not the deck is trying to recur/perm/exile the dragons, mostly, but they're all dedicated to zirilaning out dragons.
Now I remember I had a thread of making a Orzhov deck that could rotate all of its "life matter" generals therefore generating different experiences depending on your choice.
I run a Zombie deck (http://www.mtgsalvation.com/decks/1052-grimgrin) that swaps between Grimgrin, Thrax, and Gisa and Geralf for commanders depending how I feel, whether two headed giant or player numbers. Thrax adds red but I leave the deck as Dimir colours.
I also run Mogis as the god of minotaurs in one deck or the god of punishment in another... and sometimes mix and match between the two styles.
