I have gotten rid of my praetors over the years they are good but they feel win-more to me especially with how most of them are costed there is just so much more I would rather do for 7, 8 or 10 mana.
It's nice that she's able to edict your opponents usually before she eats removal, since she triggers on their upkeeps. She's like a big Shriekmaw that presents a recurring value threat. She can really run over a game if she sits on the board, but she doesn't feel obnoxious like Vorinclex does.
I love her from a character design standpoint but never in all my years of EDH have I never seen this still very widely used card do much of anything. Maybe make people sac a token or a thing they wanted dead anyways and then all the sudden she's exiled long before her controller gets to revive a creature. She just bothers the entire table way too much to live longer than 10 seconds. I want to say she's definitely one of the most overrated cards in all of kitchen table magic but that would imply that she's inherently a bad card which is far from the truth.
As cool as I find her overall, I'd rather just accomplish everything you'd hope she would do all at once with a single card at a cheaper mana cost: Living Death.
When New Phyrexia came out i had a new, huge group of friend starting EDH. Each of them was making 1-2 decks and black was a popular, so i remember us buying and or trading Sheoldreds every week almost like they were candy. Her price now is almost 5 times higher than that period, ykes!
And, yeah playing in a meta where everyone could slam a Sheoldred was a little boring

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
One of the more overrated cards in the format. That's not to say that she's bad, just that she's really not as good as most people think she is.
Praetors are definitely cards you want to cheat into play. Thankfully, she's black, so you'll think of something. It's like how I don't normally use Reya Dawnbringer except in my Kaalia deck.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
I love the card but reading through these comments makes me feel like I shouldn't really be playing it. I mean, you get what you pay for and for 7 mana I expect to basically have the game in hand but I feel that Sheoldred does that or more commonly bites removal on sight.

EDH BRGKresh the BloodbraidedBRG, A box of lands and ideas.
Modern: RG Titanshift. A deck made of cards too stupid for EDH.
Retired: Lots. More than I feel you should suffer through or I should type out.
Used to have her in Mazirek, kraul death priest but she just draws far too much hate, in a 4-5 player pod I can't remember her ever lasting until my next turn, usually she was simply straight countered/removed. In which case there are simply better forced sac options.
Sadly missing lands. (I understand why not enchantments.)

I had been running Abrade in a few decks and made the swap. You will always have a target. It is so important to play artifact removal in EDH, and this makes it easy because it will always be a relevant card.

What do you mean sadly?! 3 mana instant speed land destruction pffft these days it would have to cost 5 mana and be a sorcery if it hit lands without replacing them with a basic. Heck even in the old days they knew better than to make sinkholes and stone rains instant. Wrecking Ball is like, the best we will probably get for that.
Double black makes the cost a bit more annoying but it's a pretty decent piece of spot removal overall. Exile though is being pushed to the point where I fear someday targeted destruction will be a thing of the past.
Only playable where 5 drops define the format. Removal should not cost more than what it removes, I would prefer a draw back like lightning axe to a three drop removal spell.
The plural of "Swords to Plowshares" is "Swords two Plowshares" which is phonetically confusing most of the time.
*dual form
I kinda have to debate if it's Swords, though. For color pie reasons, it only affects attacking creatures, which is a huge downside in this format.

On the card itself, it’s good, but not that great. A reusable 3 mana quasi-swords isn’t great. Gives you a discard outlet though, but not that amazing in white.
Good memories

It's been a long time since I've played a praetor. And an even longer time if that praetor's name wasn't Elesh Norn.

Unfortunately, there are no nouns left in Swords to Plowshares for me to make plural to describe this cards. Swordses.
And if there are three of them?

Actually, when you have Swords Three Plowshares, it's a lot less confusing.
