I liked how shadow worked better then flying, not being able to block was a major downside while flying is all upside. This card showcases how much more design space that lent the mechanic.
Just missed discussing Marshal's Anthem, an old favorite card of mine. Very useful in almost any Selesnya-colored deck.
Dauthi Trapper would be more likeable for me if it were 1/2 but I guess it's versatile; still, such an effect feels more like a Limited star than any kind of Constructed one.
The Meaning of Life: "M-hmm. Well, it's nothing very special. Uh, try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations"
Onering's 4 simple steps that let you solve any problem with Magic's gameplay
Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!
I'd generally prefer Dauthi Embrace for shadow granting shenanigans. It does cost to activate, but can be used multiple times per turn, and is much less fragile. Still, Dauthi Trapper certainly has its uses if you're in the market for a source of unblockable.
I liked how shadow worked better then flying, not being able to block was a major downside while flying is all upside. This card showcases how much more design space that lent the mechanic.
Masques used flying similarly. Some of the creatures with flying can't block creatures without flying. That's where you get:
(Yeah, I don't know why they dialed back the power on creatures after Urza block.)
Oddly enough, this trend didn't continue into Prophecy, a set known for sucking in general. (No place for "CARDNAME cannot block creatures with flying if an opponent plays 1." I guess.) And it was only on blue and black cards, even though flying is in all five colors in Masques block.
On the plus side, now I want to add Robber Fly to Nekusar. I know I own it, but I'd completely forgotten about it.
Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Well tbh I'd say air bladder is better than flight.
Did you want to give your creature evasion to attack? Cool, then the blocking clause is irrelevant.
Did you want to give your flying so they could block flyers? Still works fine.
But then it's got this third option, where you can put it on an enemy creature so it can't block your ground forces.
Main downside is if you were the aggressor but find you need to block, or if you have one defensive creature you'd like to hold back air and ground attackers.
Anyway the way shadow works on trapper is pretty cool, but still nothing I'd consider for commander. Worth noting it can be used to help enemies through other enemy's defenses, though, so that's a plus.
It's something that could maybe theoretically have use, except there's really no color combination that has directly problems with creatures. I suppose I could give it a try in Hope of Ghirapur?

It's nice and flavourful, but pretty narrow in use. I guess it could be in like, a charge counter tribal proliferate deck? Maybe under everyone's favourite angel?
Otherwise, pretty much every color has better options, sadly. If the ability exiled instead of destroying, I'd be a lot more interested personally.
If you can blink it with something like Brago, King Eternal you've got removal on a stick. Consolation Ox is also one of the better ways to remove a creature politically.
I have yet to play with it but what I like about it is that it is an unobtrusive problem remover. It is something that someone might say "hey, that's neat" as they proceed to watch 3 creatures die over 3 turns. Plus you can use it two times with derevi or blink it with aminatou/brago to just keep dealing with *****. Plus it is permanent based removal for permanents matter decks.
It's a decent, if little clunky, option for creature removal - getting multiple uses out of a single card is always a good thing and in this format the oxen aren't that relevant, but sorcery speed really hurts for spot removal. Thing is, in this day and age, you can find good removal in all colours so it's a little awkward to see quite where it fits in. Maybe if you've some good artifact synergies or are looking to be very heavy on permanents in colours that can't get that much removal on them.
Oddly enough, I wouldn't really worry too much about getting more counters on it. It's nice to have, but if I just got three uses out of this, I'd be satisfied with my investment.
Transmogrifying Wand
I think the most impressive thing about this card is that there weren't any red squigglies under "transmogrifying" when I type it in.
I like it! It's clunky and it doesn't seem great, but...
It's repeatable. It can be dug up with Sun Titan. You can add counters to it in numerous ways. It could very easily lock someone out of their general, which has to be worth something.
I don't think anyone would really be doubting this card if it exiled instead of destroyed. Still, as-is it has a silly trick with indestructible/regenerate which must count for something. Also, yes, it's hard to think repeatable colorless removal is bad.
Depending on what serves your purposes better, this can either say "target creature is almost unblockable" or "target creature can't block".
I missed this, so I'll go now. I'd rather play Dauthi Embrace for the far less fragile tool than a 3cmc 1/1. Keep using shadow until people figure out that Phyrexian Splicer removes my killer evasion option.....
It's not so bad if you have a way to sac artifacts plus Sun Titan, or if you have a way to blink it or proliferate. (Gilder Bairn will work in a pinch.) There is a bit of a flavor fail in it destroying rather than exiling or creating an aura token named, I dunno, Bovify, with enchant creature, "Enchanted creature's base power is 2 and its base toughness is 4.", and "Enchanted creature loses all abilities." (probably a little too complicated there, though I do think auras are the best spot for blue's transformation ability), but that's probably for developmental reasons, same as Pongify.

Still ok in edh tho. Tech for voltron style!
Legacy - Solidarity - mono U aggro - burn - Imperial Painter - Strawberry Shortcake - Bluuzards - bom
Masques used flying similarly. Some of the creatures with flying can't block creatures without flying. That's where you get:
Cute, if strictly worse than Flying Men
Because I'm going to block with a 3/1 with evasion
3/2, evasion, and a nice synergy with Rising Waters
And in black
Shade is more expensive.
Oh come on! Was Flight really that busted?
So, you see, for another mana, you get +0/+2
(Yeah, I don't know why they dialed back the power on creatures after Urza block.)

This card is funny because of just how bad Dandân and Rag Man is. This is one of two cards which grant shadow, of which it's decidedly the worse option, though it might be okay in Voltron (so long as you don't have a Sword of Light and Shadow, Sword of War and Peace, or Mask of Law and Grace on).
