I love it in my Rakdos, Lord of Riots deck. My friends don't but Rakdos isn't for friendship lol.
I have been thinking of slotting this one into my own Rakdos deck. Then Blightsteel Colossus might have a competitor for "most hated thing in the deck."
I don't. I looked at this last one ever since someone played this card against me I don't know how many times and I just don't get the joke. Am I just too darn serious here?
Because they can't cast even mana spells (or block). So they can't even.
As in the phrase "I can't even" which is commonly used as an abbreviation of the type of phrases that start with "I can't even..." such as "I can't even believe it" or "I can't even handle it" or etc.
Oh... now I get it. I know what the saying "can't even" means, I just didn't catch the euphemism from the card.
Every time I have ever put void winnower in a deck it has backfired, I don't like it in a format where you have a chance of running into any number of effects that can steal it from you.
Generally the stuff you tutor for with Eye of Ugin is much more destructive and card-advantagy, but this eldrazi might be far and away the best representation of Lovecraftian horror as far as his ability goes. What is this I can't even!
A very good reanimator target, or in a Jalira, Master Polymorphist deck, as it has a very powerful effect simply for being on the board, but if I'm hardcasting a big Eldrazi, I'd tend to prefer the titans for the great on cast effects.
I'm not big in the camp of "worse as a creature cause of board wipes" for most enchantment-turned-creatures situations, but card advantage engine that costs 5 and dies to board wipes suffers from not being the enchantment.

Still convinced the guy on Beseech the Queen is wearing a Mitra-type hat. Wake up sheeple!
The effect is great, but there's a lot holding this back from being a good card. The P/T to CMC ratio is not good, neither is the blue heavy casting cost. It's not unplayable, but it is probably too easy to remove, meaning you're not really going to take advantage of this for long.
I guess its playable in a wizard tribal under Azami or Inalla, but whenever I've played it, it's really only space holding.
Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
I play this Magus in Heidar, which has a wizard tribal sub-theme, and he does the job there. I can tap him with Azami, Sigil Tracer, Patron Wizard, etc. He even once helped in a beat-down thanks to a flipped Docent of Perception. Not exactly wild about the casting cost, but he plays his part. I don't think I'm likely to play him anywhere else, though, while I play Future Sight in two other decks.
Ive always like future sight style cards, so of course I like this guy. That said, I don't just stick him in any deck. Wizards tribal, Thassa, Ephara (which is human tribal and 40+ creatures. He's solid as futere sight #2 and occasionally just on his own when his types or being a creature matter.

Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!
I love the things with offering, and this dude is plain scary. Almost like a legendary Seedborn Muse, and with flash if you're playing snakes! Just be careful, it untaps all forests and green creatures, not just your own.

Pretty fun enabler of a game-ender in Jolrael, Empress of Beasts. Where it's usually twenty untapped forests.

I think it's pretty dumb that it untaps other people's forests.
Back in the day, making effects like this symmetrical was a way of reducing power level a bit. It was a flavorful tool as it meant that cards that boosted a type or color were sometimes weak against that color because it boosted your opponents stuff as well. Same idea behind black removal not hitting black creatures or black creatures blocking fear.
Color used to matter a lot more, and I don't think the game is necessarily better for losing that. It's better that we have access to black removal that hits black creatures, but the nonblack, non artifact clause could easily be slapped on some of the overcosted limited chaff in order to shave a mana off.
Basically, I think we've swung the pendulum to far, and while I dont want to go back to black creatures being almost removal proof and symmetrical tribal lords, I don't think the current "all upside" approach is good either.

Well, with black back in the day, there's also the fact that Alpha/Beta/Unlimited had 18 black creatures. Of those 18, ten were undead, two were demons, one was an imp, and one was a wall made of bone.
Any knowledge of how offering works if I sacrifice a creature with a different color mana (or hybrid mana or whatever)? I likely wouldn't do it with most of them. Patron of the Orochi wants to be in a monogreen deck, Patron of the Moon and Patron of the Nezumi use creature types only seen in one color outside of changelings, and Patron of the Kitsune is something I might play in Oloro but it's weak elsewhere and again there are no blue or black foxes outside of changeling? But Patron of the Akki, there are some playable goblins with B, G, or (R/G) in their cost, and any aggro, tribal, or token deck can use that ability. (Especially decks that like playing extra turns.)
This one is a mana doubler. I suppose it has a nice side effect of letting you block, but it mostly doubles your mana from lands and mana dorks.

It does a lot more than just double mana. He lets you get tap effects on every players turn. His power there is limited because its only green dudes, but there are some strong non mana tap effects.
That being a three turn clock is its worst application says a lot.

I'm not saying it's bad. There are things the Magus can do as a creature that the enchantment can't. Being brought directly into play from the library via Tooth and Nail, Defense of the Heart, Green Sun's Zenith, Eldritch Evolution, or Wild Pair. (I'm sure you can find a 0/5, 1/4, 2/3, 3/2, or 4/1 creature.) Or being reanimated with Animate Dead, Reanimate, Necromancy, or Phyrexian Delver. Trigger ETB triggers and death triggers, though it is more likely to die. Or just giving Animar, Soul of Elements or Ezuri, Claw of Progress a boost. Or triggering Kefnet's Monument. And I will say, the Future Sight Magi are some of the better Magi, just because they all give you the option of attacking and blocking. Only Magus of the Tabernacle features that for a non-Future Sight Magus.
